She watched as he stood up in the darkness and shrugged on a pair of his jeans. In the pale moonlight shining in from the large window, he had never looked more handsome. But he was right. Physically speaking, only a few feet of bed separated the pair but mentally, for Marilyn at least, lay miles and miles of unscathed territory.

But slowly, after buckling up his belt, Harry's green eyes found hers even through the no man's land. "What's holding us back, Mare?" he finally asked before turning to exit the sanctuary of his bedroom.

I wish I knew, she thought sadly. I truly do.
