Apocalyptic Love

Alfie’s POV

“What’s your story?” This guy with a buzz cut said. Everyone looked at me. I don’t know why. I guess they just didn’t want to tell them themselves.

I guess I can tell them. Wait why? Why would I tell these people that we just met and that girl tried to kill me? Who do these people think they are.

“So?” Said Lana looking at me.

“Why me?”

“Because Alfie.” Blake said.

“Why should we tell these people?” Eric said. At least someone sees my point.

Harry’s POV

We just kind of stood there awkwardly while these people bickered.

“Umm if you don’t want to tell us that’s fine. We just ask everyone that.” Liam said, still holding Kylie.

“No that’s alright we’ll tell you.” Said the girl with the faded green hair. I didn’t quite catch her name.

“No we won’t!” Said……. Alfie I think?

“Yes we will!” Green hair girl said.

“Umm could I chime in here?” I said putting a finger in the air.

“What?” Green girl snapped.

“Fiesty!” Louis said. We all laughed.

“Look stripes this is none of your-“

“Umm Green Hair did you just call me Stripes?” Louis snapped back.

“Yeah I did you got a problem with that?”

“Oh it’s on!” Louis yelled as he lunged for her. Lia grabbed him and Alfie grabbed Green Girl.

“And by the way my name is NOT Stripes. It’s Louis.” Louis said.

“Lana.” Green Girl said. No I mean Lana, not Green Girl.

“I’m Alfie if anyone way wondering.” Said Alfie awkwardly. Lia laughed and so did he. I shot this Alfie guy a glare.

“I’m Blake.” Another guy said.

“And I’m Eric.” Said the last guy.

“Anyways, here’s our story…” Lana said. She paused trying to think. She scrunched her eyebrows, deep in thought.

“Well we were all together. Alfie, Eric, Blake, and me. There were these other four guys there named Dan, Phil, Ian, and Anthony.” She paused once again. “We were,” she added emphasis on the word were, “best friends.” By now she had tears in her eyes.

“My boyfriend,” she gulped “Anthony and I walked outside to get a little alone time. That’s when we noticed them. Those things. At first we couldn’t believe it. There was no warning, no nothing. We ran back inside and warned the others. They didn’t believe us. We didn’t have much time. We couldn’t pack anything so we all hopped in Dan’s SUV. We drove all the way from L.A. to here, Chicago. As you can see we lost four along the way. “ She was full on weeping now. Blake tried to comfort her but she just pushed him away. “First Ian in New Mexico.” She was choking on her own words. “Then Phil in Arkansas.” She was crying her heart out and all I wanted to do was tell this complete stranger that everything was going to be okay. “By then we had reached the edge of the country and decided to turn around in search of salvation. One our way back we lost Dan in West Virginia.” She was trying to hold back another flood of tears but failed. “And…..and…..then….we lost….an hour ago.” She said completely breaking down. I had no clue who he was.

“Oh my god Anthony! I’m so sorry.” She yelled as she fell on the dirt ground and all her friends crowded around her whispering things. “YES IT WAS! IT WAS MY FAULT! I SHOULD’NT HAVE HAD HIM WATCH THE DOORS! I SHOULD’VE DONE IT! THEN HE WOULD BE HERE NOT ME!” She screamed at the top of her lungs.

Lia was crying with her head in her hands not being able to watch Lana. In an instant she went from being a good strong leader to an emotional wreck. I walked over to Lia and let her sob into my chest.

“Shhh it’s going to be okay.” I cooed into her ear.

“No it’s not. Do you see what this has done to all of us? I lost my brother! She lost the love of her life! Louis lost Eleanor! When is it going to end?” She whisper yelled as she cried into my shoulder.

“Babe, don’t worry. Nothing else is going to happen to our group. To any of us for a matter of fact.” I whispered into her ear. She was still crying. I just stroked her hair.

“You guys come here please.” Zayn said. We all crowded around him.

“Should we have them join our group?” He whispered quietly enough so they wouldn’t hear us. We all pondered on that question for a while.

“Of course.” Lia finally choked out. “They need someone right now and by the looks of it, they don’t have a lot.”

“I agree.” Niall said. Finally we reached an agreement.

Lia walked up to all of them on the floor hovering over them. She wiped the tears but her eyes were bright red. It was obvious that she had been crying.

“We would like for you guys to join our group. If you don’t want to, we understand. But we believe that we would be stronger with you guys. We also believe that you would be stronger with us.” She said with a cracked voice.

“I’ll let you guys think about that.” She said as she walked back over to me. I wrapped my hand around her waist and pulled her close.

“I love you.” I whispered in her ear. She stood on her tippy toes to reach my ear.

“I love you too Harry.” She whispered.

“Yes.” Said Eric suddenly. “Yes we’ll join you’re group.”

Everyone in our new group had a smile on their face. Even Lia who had been previously weeping. She was actually excited.

She ran up to Eric and gave him a warm hug. At first he was caught off guard then he hugged her back. She did the same with Alfie and Blake.

Lia’s POV

Finally I gave a big hug to Lana. She had calmed down and hugged back. We had a slight whisper conversation.

“Sorry about Anthony.” I said. “I know how it feels. I lost my brother Ian.”

“I’m really sorry. It’s kind of weird. I haven’t talked to a girl in ages.” I laughed.

“Me either.” She laughed and we pulled away from our hug.

I turned around and all the guys had finished shaking hands.

“You are so cute! Oh yes you are! Oh yes you are!” Alfie sais to Kylie in a baby voice. He was the last person I expected to do that with his tattoos and piercings. Guess you can’t judge a book by its cover.

“Well we have an R.V. it’s back there.” Harry said to everyone. “It might be a little cramped but I think we can fit everyone in there.”

“Oh and once we get there we can tell you guys the plan. We came to Chicago to get supplies and we figured out the perfect way to do that.” Zayn said. We all nodded and started walking toward the R.V.

I was in the back talking with Lana and she was so nice. When we first met her she was a total (And excuse my language but I couldn’t think of any other word) b*itch but now that I get to know her she’s really nice.

I told her about how all the guys push me around because I’m female and she totally agreed with me! She said that her guys once did that to her but now she’s got them wrapped around her finger. I couldn’t stop laughing when she said that.

We were in the middle of another conversation when we finally reached the R.V.

But we weren’t expecting what was there.

Hundreds of those things.

And they were hungry.

And they wanted us.

Then Lana said two words.

“We’re screwed.”
