Roses & Wallflowers

“Haize! Come on we’re going to the store!” My mother yelled as she walked out the door.
I sighed and turned the sink off, draining the water from which I used the dishes to clean with. Then she honked the horn and I rolled my eyes.

I grabbed my wallet and quickly got into the car and she drove away. “Okay. We have two choices for dinner. Sandwiches, or tuna and crackers.”

“Either one is fine mother. As long as I get fed.”

She sighed when she pulled into the parking lot of the grocery store. “Okay. Just get what you need and meet me back at the checkout center.”

For some odd reason, my mother is in a different mood today. She’s actually being, generous. Plus, it is a Saturday, so I guess she’s happy that the football game comes on tonight.

I ran down the cereal aisle and grabbed me a small box of Lucky Charms, then I grabbed me a bottle of tea, and some snack cakes. I don’t guess I really need anything else. I walked around the corner and you are not going to believe who I saw. That annoying boy in my 7th. What’s his name again? Oh yeah, Harry.

I tried to walk past him without being seen, and I almost made it.

“Hey, you.” I turned around and put my hand over my chest. “Yes, you. Come here.”

I shook my head and he stood up straight, automatically making me walk up to him.

“What do you possibly want with me?”

“I need your help.”

“With what?”

He pointed to this small cookbook, and opened it showing a small course meal. “How would I make this? Like, would a girl enjoy it if I made this?”

“Are you trying to impress a girl?” I asked, and he just looked at me. I sighed, “The instructions are all in the recipe Harry. That’s why they wrote the recipes down, so you could follow them.”

“Okay thanks.”

I nodded my head and went to walk away but he grabbed my arm. “Um, why are you touching me?” I muttered.

“What you don’t like it when I touch you?” He smirked, like this was an actual good idea. He grabbed my thigh and I gasped. “Have you never been touched like this baby doll?”

I pulled his hands off of me and said, “No, and I don’t intend to be touched like that.”

He pulled me back towards him and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear, slowly wrapping his arm around my waist. I honestly didn’t know what to think of this, and I was actually kind of scared.

“What do you and that idiot Julian have?” He muttered.

“I don’t really know.”

“Does he own you?”

“Um, nobody owns me.”

“Well not yet of course.” He gave me another smirk and fright flushed through me. I pulled away from him again and smiled.

“It was nice chatting with you Harry. But I’m pretty sure that when we go back to school on Monday that you will be bullying me again. So I am going to avoid all contact with you, and I am just going to leave.” I turned around and he laughed.

“You seriously think I’m bullying you babe? It’s called flirting if you haven’t figured that out just yet.”

“Well flirting isn’t laughing at someone after you humiliate them in front of the whole class. And if that’s your way of flirting, then you need to come up with a new theory because that is a complete disrespectful way to treat a girl.”

“Forgive me.” I glanced at him over my shoulder, and he gave me a decent smile. Then I shook my head and walked away.

As soon as I was out of eye distance, I let out a deep breath and sighed. I’m glad that conversation didn’t last long, because I would’ve probably died in the floor of fright.

And I am not going to have fun trying to talk to him on Monday. That’s it, just don’t talk to him, and you won’t have a problem.
