Roses & Wallflowers

Twenty Eight.

“So what you’re suspecting is that I don’t know anything about Harry except for his name?” I scoffed and shook my head as we walked down the street.

“Haize, if you don’t even know his middle name, then you don’t know anything.”

“I.. Know his middle name.” I crossed my arms and he laughed.

“Oh yeah? Since you’re so confident with yourself. What is it?” His smirk made me burn with anger and I shook my head.

“I don’t have to prove myself to you.” I snapped and he put his hands up. We were quiet for a moment but I shrugged and sighed. “I don’t know what his middle name is.”

“Ha!” He snapped, giving me a small push with his shoulder as we walked.

“What? He never even told me anything like that. Yeah, we talked a lot. But.. It doesn’t seem like we talked a lot about each other.”

“How long have you known each other?”

“I think since the beginning of this school year.” I shrugged again and he laughed.

“Are you serious? I’ve known Harry since I was twelve years old.”

I scoffed. “Show off.”

“Harry’s middle name is Edward, and he’s been held back once in high school. He was supposed to be a Senior this year, but he failed Science.”

“I could’ve helped him with that.” I smiled and he raised an eyebrow at me.

“Are you a science nerd?” I arched my jaw and looked down. “Oh my mistake. Are you a science lover?” I nodded my head and he chuckled a little to himself. “Do you know who doesn’t like to be called nerds?”

I looked at him. “No.”

He leaned towards my ear and shouted, “Nerds!”

“I am not a nerd! My God! What is it with you and stupid stereotypical people?!” I walked ahead of him and he scowled.

He stepped in front of me and grabbed my arm. “I beg your pardon Ms. Jones but I am not a stereotypical person. I tell people how it is.”

I pointed to an old woman walking across the street and he gasped. “Here. I’ll go help her.” He nodded his head and walked over to her, helping her with her groceries and helping her in the car.

When he came back I said, “Okay. Since you’re not stereotypical, what did you think of that woman?”

“Well I knew that she needed help because she had her hands full.”

“How did you know that she needed help?” I crossed my arms and he smiled.

“Because she’s an old woman.”

“So just because she’s an old woman, you automatically think that she is frail and she needs help with everything? Sure, she could look like it. But I’m sure deep inside, she is way stronger than you are. And since you thought that she was weak and that she couldn’t do anything on her own, you’re stereotypical.” I smiled in a way that I was proud of.

“Okay fine. You’ve made your point. Maybe I am stereotypical,” We began to walk again and he shoved me a little. “And you’re a nerd.” Then he took off running down the street and I followed after him.

Once we reached my house, I saw Luke looking out the window and when she saw Jax, I saw her shriek and she walked away from the window.

“Your sister is crazy.” Jax laughed as we walked onto my porch.

“Hey there’s nothing wrong with crazy. I’m crazy.” I laughed and he took a step towards me.

“I like crazy.” He winked and I couldn’t help but blush. This whole time I haven’t been feeling something for Jax, but now it’s really hitting me hard in the chest.

“Yeah well, it runs in my family.” I went to go inside but I stopped and looked at him. “I had a great time tonight Jax. Even though it wasn’t a date, I’m glad you were there with me. I haven’t been this happy in a long time.”

“Well neither have I cher.” He smiled and grabbed my arm. “And now I’m going to kiss you.” I was shocked at his statement, but I didn’t push him away.

He leaned forward and molded his lips to mine, making it soft and sweet.

He put his hand on my jaw and pulled away saying, “Wow. Harry sure is missing out. I’ll see you tomorrow girl.” He then smiled and walked off of my porch.

Did that really just happen? Did I really just fall for Jax?
