Good Intentions

Ch . 17

LILY’S POV

I lay in bed and Jim joins me. I question telling him about the memory he had today, but decide I had better.
“He remembered a name today””
“Oh really? What was the name?”
“Zayn, and that’s all he said. Nothing else”
I watch Jim’s face and all he shows is a some what quizzical look. “It means nothing.”
I tell him refused a pill and wanted to work.
“Good. He’s ready to move on. He is a hard worker. A little clumsy at times, but a hard worker none the less.”
We lay there in silence and he speaks of it some more.
“Give him time to get to sleep good and watch him. If he mentions him or anyone else, we’ll go from there, and so far he has only remembered or mentioned the other guys name. What was it, Louis? This is actually going smoother than I had anticipated. Meghan transitioned well and he is also. The amnesia is helping us out on that a great deal.”
I nod in agreement. Meghan was young, she was easy. Will has a lot of memories tucked away in his head that are dying to get out.
I hear Jim’s first snore and I slide out from under the covers and grab a blanket and sit outside of Will’s door, listening.

I hear him tossing in his sleep and open the door a bit and look in. He is not sleeping soundly, the dreams are occupying his sleep. He laughs a little and sings the lines to a song I have never heard. He has a really good voice. ‘
“That’s what makes you beautiful”, he says and he’s back asleep as if it never happened.
I make a face thinking what a strange comment, song lyric maybe? Kids these days. I go to the folder in the kitchen and write about todays happenings. The name, refusal of meds, the possible song lyric he said.

I really don’t like giving him the sleeping pills but they seems to help slide him back into the oblivion of not remembering things. His dreams are more intense but he doesn’t seem to remember them.

I go back to the room and watch him. He is sleeping soundly. My only regret is that I know he has a mother who is probably worried about him, possibly a father. That is the only draw back I have. He may even have siblings. Its obvious he has friends that care about him deeply or he cares about them, enough to dream about them
