Rose's POV
Today is just one of those days where i just want to be alone and think. Ever since Lilac and i have moved here, i have felt out of place in the town, and apparently talking to those guys from the diner wasn't the best thing because now i am getting dirty looks and others are afraid to even socialize with me, but it wasn't because of Michael and Calum. It was because of Luke and Ashton, the jerks who barged in and tried to hit on me and my sister. I roll my eyes at the thought of them.
"Rose!" i hear someone call and when i turn around, i see Michael running up to me. Other than the other guys, he seems really nice and i don't think he is the real danger out of them all.
"Oh, hey Michael" i greet, again, i see people making weird faces at me, but this time i shrug them off
"Watcha doing?" he asks
"Nothing, are you sure it is okay for you to talk to me?" i ask, remembering our last encounter
"Yeah, Luke will have to deal with it" he shrugs
"Someone's a rebel" i giggle
"I try" he says and we both laugh at that. We end up walking around while talking and he seems like a really nice guy so the constant stares make no sense to me
"Hey, can i ask you something?" i ask, wanting answers to why people are always staring at me like i am crazy
"Yeah, sure" he says with a smile
"Why is it so weird for me to be talking to you?" i ask, and his eyes find the ground before sighing
"Promise you won't think differently of me or anything after i tell you" he says and i get confused
"Why would i-" i start but he cuts me off
"Please just promise" he says
"Okay, i promise" i say and he takes a deep breathe before opening his mouth to speak, but he is cut off by a loud yell
"Michael! Where the hell have you been" we hear someone yell, and when we both turn around, we see Luke, and Michael tenses up immediately
"I was just-" he starts but Luke cuts him off
"Running around with my girl like you don't give a fuck about it" he growls
"I am not your girl and you need to get that through your head" i say, not knowing why i snapped like that
"You better watch your pretty little mouth Rose" he says, stroking his finger along my jawline and i get chills from his actions
"Don't touch her" Michael growls at him
"You don't tell me what to do, now go back with the guys before i think twice about letting you go" Luke barks
"I'll see you around Rose" Michael says
"Not if you want to live you won't" Luke says before Michael leaves us alone.
"I should go" i say but before i can fully get away from him, he grabs me by my arm, and i try to ignore the sparks that shot through my arm as he did so.
"You stay away from him" he tells me
"And why should i listen to you" i say, trying to sound more confident when in reality i was scared beyond belief.
"I don't think you want to challenge me here, princess" he says
"I'm not your 'princess'. I am nobody's princess" i say, avoiding eye contact
"Whatever you say." he says before letting me go and i take this as a chance to leave.
Luke's POV
"I watch as she walks away, and i can't help but smile as she does so. She is so cute how she tries to act tough, when we both know she is scared out of her mind. I walk back to where Calum, Ashton, and Michael are, and let me say, Michael is not going to be let down so easily
"What have i told you about staying away from her?" i say to him, and he doesn't look up, his eyes fixed on the grey concrete
"There's something about her that makes her different and if you do anything to ruin that, i swear i will-" he starts to threaten me but Ashton cuts him off
"You'll what? Last time i checked he was the one who is second in command here, so you will follow his orders, no exceptions. If he wants to do something to her, that is his call now if you have any hope to live, i advise you stay away from her" Ashton says
"Okay" michael says, but if i know him, he will do whatever it takes to help her, no matter what we tell him
"And as for you Calum, if i ever see you with Lilac again, i will not take it lightly, and i don't care if they seem different, they will find it much nicer with our lifestyles. If i ever see either of you with our girls-" Ashton says but they both cuts him off
"They aren't yours" they say in unison
"They will be, now as i was saying, if we ever see you with them again if we aren't there again, we will handle things our way. Am i clear" Ashton says, and the nod before he dismisses them.
"So, what's the plan on getting them to ourselves?" i ask him
"I don't know, but i won't let them go before i know how it feels to call them ours" he says and if there is anything that i know about Ashton, its that he is persistent and he will get what he wants, one way or another. The thought of being able to finally call Rose mine was a great feeling to look forward to, but until then, i can't let some girl change my badboy image, no matter how much i ached for her, i wouldn't show my weakness for her.
"Luke?!" Ashton yells to get my attention back from the abyss of my thoughts
"Huh, what?" i ask
"Don't go soft on me now, because i can find someone who actually is worth being my second in command" he warns
"Wouldn't dream of going soft" i say and he nods before dismissing me as well. It isn't possible for her to change me, right?
