Rose's POV
I couldn't stay there and talk to Luke, let alone face him after he sang me that song. I can tell he meant every word that came from his lips and that fact alone scared me. I never expected our relationship to be one where he would apologize like this. I don't even know if that's what I want to have with him. I expected something dangerous, but now it just seems like he's trying to please me by going out of his way and out of his element, and let me say it is plain pathetic.
"Rose!" I hear the one voice I wish would just leave me alone
"Come on please just talk to me" his voice had a hint of sorrow but it was more of a demand than a plea, and I choose to ignore it.
"If you don't turn around right now, I swear I will-" I don't give him time to finish the sentence as I cut him off.
"You'll what? Huh? Sing me some cheesy song and expect me to run into your arms? This isn't some fucking fairy tale and you of all people should realize that. You're second in command of the most feared gang in Australia and you pull shit like that?! What the hell were you thinking?" I laugh bitterly
"I thought you wanted something like that" he says, his voice cautious like he was watching what he has to say after my outburst.
"I thought I did, but that is what every girl would want, and we both know I am not like some ordinary girl, Luke" I tell him and I see the sides of his mouth curve at the sentence
"I know all too well that you're not an ordinary girl. That's why I fell for you" he says
"Don't go pulling that cheesy shit on me right now. Not after I just yelled at you for it" I chuckle dryly
"Fine, I'll put my own twist to it." he says before beginning to speak "From the first time laid eyes on you, I needed you to be mine, and I'll admit, at first I thought it would be for a one night stand and that was all I thought you would be fucking good for. Than I saw how Michael and Calum grew a liking on you and your sister and my feelings grew into something that scared me shitless. Fuck, Rose, you have no idea how much it scares me. Than you joined the gang, and I'm pretty sure you are going to be our baiter soon, considering how well you baited the guy from your first job, and to know that other guys will be looking at you the way I should, I am going to have to force myself to not rip the guys' heads off. The point to this fucking speech is that you keep me as sane as I possibly can." he says and I wasted no time as I connect our lips, catching him off guard. The kiss was brief as I pull away only seconds later.
"That made absolutely no sense" I breathe out "But I don't even care" I add, making him smile
"So, you're my girl again?" he asks
"I'm no one's to own, but I will give our relationship another shot" I say
"I'll take it." he says before pulling me into an embrace. One that I have been waiting on for a while
"Just promise me one thing" I say
"Not so good with promises but I'll try" he says
"Don't bring up my past" I say "If you do, I'll rip your eyes out" I say and feel his chest vibrate as a chuckle escapes his lips.
"I'll keep that in mind" he tells me before we join the rest of the guys
One week later
Luke was right when he told me the guys were going to make me the gang's baiter. To say I was angry was an understatement. They saw how I reacted the first time I baited someone and now they want me to do that full time for them. I guess it's too late to insist for another position, because we're about to go out tonight and I have to bait for the second time since being in this gang.
"You ready?" I hear Luke ask through the door that is separating us at the moment. Upon arriving, the guys made me change into an outfit they thought would be more appealing to some creep.
"Just about" I reply before looking at myself once more. The guys chose a black dress, the material thin and it barely covered anything, leaving almost nothing to imagine. My hair was curled and my makeup was bold and daring, the exact opposite of my everyday makeup. I barely recognized the girl looking back at me in the mirror.
"Will you hurry up!" I hear Ashton yell as he bangs on the door. I don't say anything as I roll my eyes and open the door. To say the guys and Lilac are surprised with my appearance would be a huge understatement.
"Are we going to go or not because the sooner I get this makeup off, the better" I say, making them all come out of their trance
"Right. Go talk to Michael. He'll tell you what to do" Ashton ordered and everyone except Michael follow Ashton out the exit.
"Why can't Lilac do this again?" I ask, annoyance in my voice
"We tried with Lilac and she almost got herself killed" he reminds me.
It was true. Last week after the whole thing with Luke occurred, Lilac was trying to bait some guy and not only did she fail, but if it wasn't for Ashton, she would have been dead.
"Very true." I say "So, what do I do?" I ask him
"This guy is going to be harder to bait than your last guy. You're going to have to talk to him this time before leading him out" he says and my mouth goes dry.
"Alright" I manage to get out
"You can do it. I've seen you do it with Luke without even trying" he chuckles and I feel my face grow warm at the mention of Luke's name. "After he agrees to leave, take him behind the building, and we'll follow you out there." he adds
"Will you?" I ask, unsure
"Trust me, we will be there for you" he says and I nod
"So, is it time?" I ask and he is the one who nods this time, the two of us walking out shortly after. I just hope this will be semi-easy like the first time I was on the job.
"Don't be afraid to let your wild side out tonight" Michael says before we catch up with everyone else.
"Does she know what to do?" Ashton asks
"Yes, I do, and I am right here" I growl. Let's just say that Ashton and I still don't see eye to eye
"And I am fully aware" he remarks, giving me an evil smirk as he does so.
"Come on, stop fucking bickering already would you" Calum groans
"How about you shut it Hood" Ashton warns, causing Calum to cower back.
"Let's go! Doug is going to be there before we do and our fucking cover is going to be blown" Luke raises his voice, annoyance clear in his voice
"Fine" Ashton says, grabbing my sister's hand before dragging her away, the rest of us following.
Once we got to the club, the boys showed me where to go, allowing me to see a picture of the dude so I would know who to look for and when I get to the dancefloor, I see the man surrounded by girls, desperately trying to get his attention, and they are failing miserably, making me nervous. Michael wasn't kidding when he said this guy wouldn't be easy.
Taking a deep breath, I make my way over to him, pushing the girls out of my way as I do so.
"So, what's a pretty little thing like you being so vicious for?" his voice was deep and rough, and I hold myself back from calling me a 'pretty little thing'.
"Let's just say if I want something, I am not a princess" I say, smiling as he eyes my outfit, a sudden burst of confidence going through me as he does so.
"Good to know" he chuckles, placing his hands on my sides as he pulls me closer to him, and I can almost feel the stares of not only the girls, but Luke as well.
"It's getting a little crowded in here isn't it?" I ask innocently, knowing I should try now before things go further.
"I think it is" he nods, taking the bait
"Let's get out of here than" I say, my mouth nearing his ear as I say so. He doesn't say anything as he agrees with a nod of the head and we walk out, dodging the sweaty dancing bodies that got in our way. I glance back and I already see the boys and Lilac walking from the place they once were.
The cold air hits my almost entirely exposed skin and I instinctively wrap my arms around myself as an attempt of warming myself up.
"You cold?" I hear him ask and I shyly nod, trying not to blow my cover.
"Here" he takes off the coat that he had on and I take it from his hands, saying thank you before placing over my small frame.
"Let's go this way" I suggest and he smiles
"Eager are we?" he says
"Like I said, I'm no princess when I want something" I say
"You wouldn't mind being a queen for one night would you? A king needs a queen sometimes don't they" he says, which makes my blood boil
"I don't think so" I shake my head
"Come on, you look like a princess to me, why not be promoted to queen for a night?" he asks, his hands tracing my jawline
"You know what I'd rather do?" I ask, and he waits for me to answer, which never came, as I grab his neck and snap it without a second thought. A few moments later, the Calum and Michael turn the corner, wide eyed as they see Doug's lifeless body laying next to me.
"What the fuck just happened and why did I miss it?" Calum laughs
"He called me a princess, and wanted me to be his queen." I explain but they still don't respond
"You guys took too long" I say before walking past them, not believing my own actions myself.
