Never Alone (Harry Styles Fiction)

Chapter Twelve

"C'mon baby, dance with Me." whispered Jake into my ear as he wrapped his arms around my waist.

"It's ok, just go dance with Niall, I'm ok." I winced, as he got closer to my face. Not that I didn't want to kiss him but Jake was drunk. I couldn't risk anything between us, especially not now.

"Please Lynn, just one dance and I won't ask you again." He stared into my eyes and pouted his lips.

I knew it was the alcohol speaking because usually when I rejected Jakes offers he'd sit out with me and we'd just end up talking the rest of the time. He continued to pout getting more impatient as I finally gave in. A huge part of me knew this wasn't a good idea but the other half felt bad if I said no. He gave me a small grin as he stood up and took my hand leading me to the dance floor. We stopped in the center where toxic teens filled the room, sweat and air spread of testosterone. This was like your ordinary teenage parties; drugs, sex, hangovers and lots of consume of alcohol anything you wanted you could imagine, was here.

"You look really beautiful tonight." He whispered softly into my ear while gripping my waist tighter. I tensed at his touch as I felt him bring me closer to him every step.

"Thanks, you too." We slowly moved to the beat as he held grip on my waist the full time.

As the music boomed through the room my head began to feel dizzy the air filled my nostrils with the smell of alcohol and in that moment I felt so close to passing out. I stopped moving as my vision began to blur I guess I wasn't used to the image of intoxicated crowds as I thought I was. I remember how in dreams I dreamt of getting drunk as weird as that sounds but in my mind I lived this whole new world that I didn't even know.

"Hey Lynn, what's wrong baby?" he stopped moving as well as he tilted my head to face him.

"Nothing." I lied. I felt sick right now and all I needed was to get out of this crowed place and get some fresh air. The atmosphere was slow and groggy, the weed doing its obvious job. "Actually I’m going to go outside to get some fresh air, ok?" I broke our eye contact without him saying a word and walked away before he could say anything.

I looked back to see him continue dancing with his drunken friends as I walked outside. I slid the glass door open in the back of the house and closed the door behind me as I fluttered my eyes close breathing in the cold, fresh air. It was relieving getting away from the party because it was very hot and crowded which I guess is what caused my slight headaches. I opened my eyes only to see various groups of people outside chatting, laughing about their lives and drinking cans of alcohol to lighten their night. I'm glad their wasn't a lot of people out here I knew who would bother me and the ones I did know well they were to drunk to even notice me. I realized this was Shane's backyard so I figured there must be a place to relax or sit for a while. I was amazed in how huge his backyard was it looked like a forest, huge trees scattered everywhere and long grass covering the huge piece of land. I started to walk away from the crowds of people the music fading the further I got. It was really dark outside even though it was only 10pm I took out my phone and turned on my flashlight to look around the "backyard" or so. I stopped a moment until I peered over to find a fort on one of the trees.

"No way!" I squealed to myself running towards the tree. "It's a tree house! I haven't seen one of these things since forever!" I mumbled to myself as I started to climb up the tall tree and into the tree house. “Fuck” I cursed at myself when I stood up not knowing how high I was from the ground. I flashed my phone again to get a better look at the fort. I wandered around for a while till I saw a shadow near the window move a little. I flashed my phone towards its direction and moved slowly, scared to find out what it was.

"Hello?" I placed my hand on its shoulder jumping at its movement.

"Lynn?" Spoke a familiar British accent sending chills throughout my body.

"Harry, what are you doing up here?" I asked taking a seat next to him.

"I could ask you the same thing." He winked showing off his dimples again.

"I needed some air and found this tree house from afar... it's amazing." I looked up to admire its unique structure. "So why are you here, I thought you'd be back in there with the boys getting drunk." I looked back at him to see him still smiling.

"No, I don't drink." he simply said straightening his beanie and looking at me.

"Smoke?"

"Nope." he smiled shrugging his shoulders. "Do you?"

"Well not really... I've done it a couple of times when I'm stressed out or something." I said nervously.

"Well you shouldn't. You're to beautiful to be damaging yourself." He looked at me with concern. I looked at him with awe in surprise, how was I supposed to respond to that? I never had someone tell me this, ever. The only people that actually knew about my depression were Sissy and Adri and it wasn't really depression but just a minor struggle I come across when I'm stressed out. He pulled me in for a hug, as we stayed silent for a few minutes until he pulled back and looked out the window again.

"Thank you." I smiled looking down at my lap feeling myself blush a little.

"No worries babe. I mean it." He said concerning not making eye contact with me what so ever. I got a little closer to him wrapping my arms and burying my face into his arms.

"What's wrong?" He chuckled.

"Nothing's it's just... I-I… I’m scared of heights! Please don't laugh!" I stuttered in embarrassment. I peeked up at him, only to find him laughing.

“Don’t be scared,” he said again, as his hands gently stroked the sides of my waist. “I’m with you. I won’t let you fall, Lynn.”

“We’re really high up, aren’t we?” I chuckled nervously.

“Sort of, but isn’t the view great?” he asked.

“Harry, I’m really scared,” I admitted softly, sneaking a peak down at the ground.

“Why?” he asked me. “I’ve got you, haven’t I?”

I nodded slowly, and returned my gaze back up to the stars. “I know.” I said.

“I’ve always got you, Lynn…” he told me. I smiled.

“I know,” I said again. “It’s beautiful up here.”

“It is,” Harry agreed. “But you know who’s more beautiful?”

“Who?” I smiled, leaning my head back against his shoulder.

“Me.” Harry joked. I laughed, and playfully punched his arm.

“You are.” I agreed, looking up at him. My heart thudded as I watched him smile down at me, his green eyes soft.

“So are you.” Harry said. “You’re really beautiful.”

I blushed and looked down. He put two fingers under my chin and tilted my face up to meet his eyes. “I like it when you blush.”

I giggled. “You like a lot of weird things.” I said, shaking my head.

“True,” he chuckled. “No wonder I like you.”

My heartbeat sped up at his words, and I could feel a slow blush spreading across my cheeks yet again. Harry grinned.

“There it is,” he said, poking my cheek.

“Stop making me blush like that.” I muttered, embarrassed.

“But I like seeing you blush.” he insisted.

“Ass.” I mumbled.

Suddenly, Harry’s eyes widened. “Lynn, look!” he said excitedly, and pointed at the sky. I looked up to see a shooting star zipping across the sky. I looked at Harry, who had his eyes closed. A few seconds later, he opened them and smiled down at me.

“What did you wish for?” I asked curiously.

“Like hell I’m telling you.” Harry snorted, putting an arm around me as we sat on the edge of the tree house.

I frowned. “That’s not fair.” I insisted.

Harry shrugged. “Oops.” he grinned down at me.

“You really are an ass.” I accused, and he laughed.

We stood in silence for a while, watching the sky. My fear was slowly subsiding, as I could feel Harry’s strong grip around me. What was I even thinking? He would never let me fall. Like the day we ditched class to watch a movie and his touch made me feel so secure like if I were to fall he'd be there to catch me. That's exactly what I felt again and I had to admit it was one of the best feelings ever.

“If you fall, Lynn, I’m going to be there to catch you.”

The words seemed cheesy, as was the norm for Harry. But they were comforting. It made me realize that I wasn’t the only one hopelessly caught up in this. Harry was too. And that made everything seem easier, and better. This moment was undeniably perfect but I was still afraid. Not have the height of course but of my feelings. Was I really slowly falling for Harry? I couldn't help but feel terrible right now because Harry had just admitted a few minutes ago that he liked me and I couldn't help but deny for having some feelings towards him as well. I was dating Jake, Jake Woods. I really love Jake and nothing can take that away but being around Harry made me feel like another person. I was once again torn in a situation and I really didn't know what to do.

“Hey, Lynn?” he asked after a while.

“Hmmm?”

“I really do like you, you know?” he asked.

“I do know, Harry.” I assured him.

“Yeah,” he said. “I just thought I…I should tell you again. I like you. A lot. Probably a bit more than I should. But I’m not complaining.”

I laughed lightly at that. “I like you too, Harry.” I told him.

“You do?” he asked.

“Of course, you're a really sweet friend.” I said.

“I meant what I said,” he said, as he looked at me. “I’ve always got you.”

“Promise?” I asked him.

He smiled for a while and leaned into my ear and whispered. “Promise.”

And that was enough for me. Because this was the simple truth. Harry liked me,

and I think I liked him. He was there for me right now, and I felt completely safe.

This story is one of the most confusing stories ever. With the flashbacks just being italic and then all the dreams. And now it's over, and i don't even know what to think right now. I'm kinda stunned and didn't realize this story was over. I feel like so much more could happen, like its unsolved, all our questions are unanswered. It's really confusing, but still a great book :)
