My Favorite Date

Chapter Eleven

We had just landed in Savannah and Liam could just tell I was excited. We got off the plane as fast as we possibly could and I grinned widely when I saw my parents, grandparents, Thomas and his wife waiting for us. When we got close enough, I was pulled into a giant hug by my mother and then passed around for hugs and then looked over to see my dad and older brother talking to Liam and I quickly rushed over to them.

“Dad, Thomas,” I said, “Quit scaring Liam.”

“Oh we weren’t scaring him dear,” my dad said with his southern drawl, “We were just trying to make him welcome.”

“I’m sure you were,” I said giving them a playful glare as Liam wrapped an arm around my waist, “I’m sorry I didn’t introduce you properly. Daddy, Thomas meet my boyfriend Liam Payne. Liam meet my dad and older brother Thomas.”

“Like I said earlier,” Liam said and shook my dad’s hand and Thomas’s hand again, “It’s nice to meet you two finally. Mel’s talked a lot about all of you.”

“Is this him?” I heard my mother ask and then saw everyone come over to us.

“Liam meet my mom, Nan, Papa Walters, and Jillian Thomas’s very pregnant wife,” I smiled, “Everyone this is my boyfriend Liam Payne.”

“Oh my he’s a handsome one,” Nan said smirking, “You did good kid.”

“Mom,” my dad warned and I just turned a bright shade of pink as Liam shook everyone’s hand and gave hugs where he was pulled into.

“Well why don’t we get back to the planation and then we’ll get ready for dinner,” my mom said, “Lilly and Greg are going to come with us but we got you young kids all a car so we’ll meet you there.”

“Okay,” I said smiling as Liam grabbed my hand and we headed to the car where Louis, Harry, and Niall were all waiting for us.

We walked to the car and Liam let me get in and he followed after.

“So you survived the introduction Payne,” Harry smirked, “Wait until dinner.”

“Harry,” I warned and Liam looked between the two of us.

“What?” Liam asked and I saw Louis smirk.

“You didn’t prepare him for the rapid question round coming when dinner comes around?” Louis asked shocked, “I can’t wait to see this then.”

“What is he talking about?” Liam asked giving me a ‘you didn’t talk to be about this’ kind of look.

“Don’t worry about Liam,” I said, “I’ll explain later.”

“More like you’ll fight about in the privacy of your room,” Louis said smirking.

“So where’s your date Louis?” I asked flipping the subject and I could tell Harry and Niall were shocked I did it, “Isn’t Eleanor your girlfriend now? She wasn’t taking summer classes from what my mom told me on the phone a few weeks ago. She says she’s a lovely girl.”

I then watched Louis’s face drain from all color and I knew I had him. I knew my mother hadn’t told me that but from what I heard from Perrie the last time we had lunch, she told me that Louis and Eleanor were having a rough patch and Zayn told her they were going to break up.

“What cat got your tongue Louis?” I asked.

“How did you know about. . .” he started shocked.

“It’s a secret of mine,” I winked, “I grew up a lot in the last year trust me on that one.”

I looked up at Liam to see him smile at me and he kissed my cheek. The time Liam and I had spent we had worked on my confidence around Louis because I told him that I was the girlfriend who did whatever Louis wanted.

“Well on a less awkward note,” Harry said, “I hear Jake is going to take us to the dance club that you and him always went to when you were down here for the summer.”

“Oh I have to teach you how to two-step then babe,” I grinned, “Jake and I were the best two-steppers in the county.”

“Two-stepping?” Liam asked confused.

“It’s a type of dance hicks do,” Louis replied and I glared at the word hick.

“It’s a type of western dance,” I replied looking at Liam and smiling lightly, “It’s so much fun.”

“Well I’ll take your word for it,” Liam smiled.

We then managed to pull up to the planation and I just smiled when I saw the familiarity of my childhood. I looked over at Liam who was looking at the house in awe.

“It’s beautiful right?” I asked as we got out of the car.

“It’s incredible,” Liam said in awe.

I just grinned at him and pulled on his arm and dragged him inside the house since I knew my brother and dad were going to bring our luggage to the room Liam and I were going to share.

“Where are we going?” Liam asked confused and I just laughed lightly.

“My favorite room in the entire house,” I grinned, “No one knows this but Jake and well Louis did but that doesn’t matter.”

We then stopped outside the room that I grew up in learning how to play all the music and let out my emotions. I pushed the door open and smiled at the familiarity in. There in the middle of the room was the baby grand piano my grandparents owned and my cousin Jeff taught me on and the guitars that lined the walls. Liam gasped and I just grinned widely at him.

“Do you play piano?” he asked and I nodded slowly.

“Do you know the song Falling Slowly?” he asked and I nodded my head and pulled the perfect guitar off the wall and handed it to him.

“I didn’t know you sang,” I said.

“I do occasionally,” Liam smiled and then we started playing.

We sang the song and when we were done I smiled at him. While we were playing it was like Liam and I were on the same page even more than before. We kept looking at each other the entire time we sang and it was like we were singing to each other. We must have been in our own world because we had no clue people were listening until we heard clapping. We both looked to find that my family including Louis’s family clapping.

“That was incredible,” my nana grinned.

“It was way better than when you and Louis sang,” I heard Jake’s voice and I just laughed as he made his way into the music room.

Jake!” I exclaimed and my Uncle James and Aunt Wendy exclaimed as I hugged him.

“It’s good to see you too Mel,” he laughed, “And you must be the infamous Liam that I keep hearing about from Lilly, Niall, Greg, and Harry?”

“Looks like you’re a hit babe,” I laughed.

“Nice to meet you,” Liam said as they shook hands.

“Dear why don’t you show Liam the room that you two will be sharing for the next week,” my nana said, “And get ready for dinner. We’re going to the club.”

“Alright,” I said a bit bummed that we weren’t staying here and eating the homemade food that my nana’s maid, Audrey made and I helped with.

I then grabbed Liam’s hand and we headed up the stairs.

“Well that was interesting,” Liam said as we made it to our room and I laughed.

“You are just being nice,” I laughed, “Just wait until you meet the Horans. They’ll be here for dinner. My parents are going to go get them.”

“So what was that rapid question Louis was talking about?” Liam asked as he sat on the bed and I smiled sheepishly at him.

“Remember when we played rapid questions about yourself?” I asked and he nodded his head.

“It’s going to be like that at dinner,” I said, “But it might not since its Lilly and Greg’s wedding.”

“Well I’m glad that we practiced then,” he replied and I laughed.

“Come on let’s get ready,” I said, “We have to leave in an hour.”

“Let’s get ready then,” he said, “Would you like to shower first or me?”

“I’ll shower,” I said, “You can nap or watch TV. It’s up to you on what you want to do.”

“Alright love,” he said and I gave him a small smile.

I then grabbed my bathroom bag and headed into the bathroom connected to our room and started getting ready. I quickly showered and hopped out to find that Liam and fallen asleep and was curled up on the bed.

“God you’re so beautiful Mel,” he whispered in his sleep, “No I’m not lying. I really do want you to be my girlfriend.”

My heart broke a little bit because I knew what Liam would never happen because he had no idea what he was saying. I walked over to him and nudged him slightly.

“Come on Li,” I said, “Time for you to shower and then I need to curl my hair.”

“Ugh,” Liam groaned and turned over and I saw his eyes bug out of his head since I was still in my towel.

“Morning sleepy head,” I giggled, “You sounded like you were having a good dream.”

“I didn’t sleep talk did I?” Liam asked nervously rubbing his neck and I giggled.

“No,” I said, “you were just smiling really big.”

“Well I’m going to go shower,” Liam said standing up, “I’ll be out soon.”

“Okay,” I smiled and walked over to my bag, “I’ll start unpacking then and get everything put away.”

“Okay,” he said and I heard him go into the bath room and I smiled at my reflection in the mirror above the dresser.

“I wouldn’t mind becoming your girlfriend either,” I said quietly, “but that will never happen.”
