My Favorite Date

Chapter Nine

Today was the day we were leaving for New York and I was a bit of a nervous wreck. Liam spent the night and had brought his luggage up to my apartment and we agreed to take a cab to the place where we were meeting my sister and Greg. I had woken up hours before I should’ve and have been cleaning up the already clean apartment. Maggie and Talia had picked up Ace the night before so I was just now dusting a clean TV.

“You know you don’t have to be so worried,” Liam’s voice made me jump and I quickly spun around.

“Sorry to scare you,” he said, “but you don’t have to worry about a thing. We’ll be fine.”

“I know,” I sighed as he pulled me into his arms and I was just glad we were so comfortable around each other now, “I just am because my mom will be making comments about us getting married next and you. . .”

“Let’s not think about that,” Liam said throwing me for a loop, “We don’t know what the future holds okay?”

After that day in the park, Liam and I had literally been inseparable. We had many sleepovers both at my apartment and his apartment and I’m pretty sure to the outside world Liam and I were those adorable couples still in the honeymoon phase. We had swapped stories of our tattoos and so many other things that sometimes I forgot that we weren’t really dating.

“Okay,” I sighed.

“Now let’s get dressed and maybe we can stop by the diner before we have to meet your sister,” he whispered and I nodded my head but didn’t move.

I took a deep breath and then decided to get ready. I hopped in the shower and quickly hopped out so Liam could shower as well. We switched spots and I walked out to my bedroom and quickly changed. Liam was in the bathroom quite a while so I knocked on the door three times and stuck my head in.

“Liam are you. . .” I started but my sentence stopped when Liam turned around in a towel low on his hips.

I then noticed the tattoos that I had spent hours tracing and his nice and defined six pack.

“Like what you see Melanie?” Liam smirked and I just blushed looking away.

“Just making sure you’re still alive since you’ve been in here for a half hour my sister takes less time to get ready,” I replied still blushing.

I then shut the door and just moved to the wall next to the bathroom and closed my eyes. I was definitely in trouble. I then walked back to my room and grabbed my bags and dragged them to the door along with the two garment bags that held Liam’s tux and my dress. I then started dragging Liam’s bag to the door as well since he had pulled out an outfit for himself before going into the bathroom. I then went back to the bedroom to find Liam still without a shirt.

“You’re doing this on purpose Payne,” I teased as I made sure I grabbed everything out of my bathroom

“Doing what?” he asked and I could hear the smirk in his voice.

“You know what,” I laughed as I put on some makeup.

Once I was completely done with my hair and makeup I found Liam lying on my now made bed. We both did a once over the room and apartment and I looked at Liam.

“Ready to put this all together?” he asked.

“If you’re ready then I’m ready,” I replied and he smiled at me.

“Then let’s get going,” he replied and we headed to face my family.

When the taxi cab pulled up to the place where we were meeting Lilly and Greg, I smiled when I saw Niall’s blonde hair and my cousin, Harry’s curly hair.

“Niall and my cousin Harry’s here,” I smiled widely and Liam smiled and nodded his head.

We got out of the car and I heard Lilly’s squeal.

“Melanie!” she exclaimed and I ran across the street and hugged her tightly.

“Lilly!” I replied just as excited and hugged her tightly, “Oh no I have to go help. . .”

“I’m on it Mel,” Greg said kissing the top of my head, “I’ll go help the newbie.”

I just rolled my eyes and soon I was pulled into a hug and I laughed when I saw it was Harry.

“Haz!” I exclaimed and hugged back.

“Hey Mel,” he laughed.

“You got more tattoos,” I said noticing them and he grinned, “My mom is going to kill you.”

“Like Aunt Kate could hate me. Besides I know from your tattoos she’s going to kill you first,” he scoffed and then I was picked up and I squealed holding onto however was holding me.

“Niall you put me down!” I squealed and I heard him laughing, “Liam help me!”

“Sorry love but my hands are a bit full,” he said and I playfully glared at him as Niall put me down.

“Hey Mel,” Niall smirked at me.

“Hey Niall,” I replied laughing and thanked him as he handed me my camel macchiato.

“Sorry mate we didn’t know what you liked to drink so we couldn’t get your coffee,” Niall said as we walked up to Harry, Lilly, Greg and Liam.

“I’ll go get it,” I said, “Do you want room for cream and sugar today love?”

“Yes love,” Liam smiled and kissed my temple and I kissed his cheek and rushed into the coffee shop.

Lilly said she’d come with me and we walked into the coffee shop. The moment we walked in she already knew something was up.

“So you hired a date?” she smirked at me and I sighed knowing I couldn’t lie to her.

“He’s cute though,” I said, “And he’s such a gentleman Lilly. Please don’t tell Mom or Dad. I’ll never hear the end of it.”

“Oh sweetheart,” my sister laughed, “I’m actually proud of you that you’re going to show Louis that you’re moving on even though it’s fake.”

“Really?” I asked as I ordered Liam’s coffee.

“Of course,” Lilly smirked, “Louis doesn’t have a date because he thinks he’ll be able to win you back. Just a heads up he’s going to be at the plane. Apparently he went back to Doncaster to visit his grandparents and is meeting us there.”
“Thanks for the heads up,” I said as I fixed Liam’s coffee.

“So how much do you know about Liam?” she asked.

“Everything there is to know about him,” I said, “We’ve been hanging out for weeks now. We’re really close.”

I then looked up to see Lilly smirking at me.

“You’re head over heels for him,” Lilly said, “I know that look on your face Mel.”

“I am not,” I said a bit defensively, “We are just really good friends.”

“Alright,” she said smirking at me and I just rolled my eyes.

We walked out of the coffee shop to find Greg, Liam, Harry, and Niall all talking about something but they stopped when we got closer to them.

“Here you go love,” I said handing Liam his coffee and I looked over that the boys and smirked.

“You know we both know you were planning the bachelor party,” I said smirking and Niall, Harry, and Greg all groaned while Liam just laughed.

“You two are so scary good it worries me that you two could possibly be psychic,” Niall said as we got into the car that was going to take us to the airplane.

“That’s because we are Niall,” Lilly teased him and I just laughed at Lilly and shook my head.

The drive to the airplane was quick and I smiled when I saw it. That meant in less than seven hours I was going to back in one of the cities I absolutely loved. The car stopped and I quickly got out with Liam right behind me.

“Someone’s excited to go home,” Liam teased me and I just laughed and smiled at him.

“I can’t wait to show you New York City!” I exclaimed, “It’s absolutely magical. You’re going to love it.”

Liam just chuckled at my excitement along with Harry and Niall.

“She’s always like this when she goes back home,” Harry chuckled, “I think she misses New York City more than her family in New York City.”

“That is not true at all Haz!” I exclaimed pretending to be hurt, “I am appalled that you would even think that.”

Harry just laughed as we all went to go help grab some luggage. I was pulling my carry-on and the garment bags when Liam came over to me and grabbed my carry-on luggage out of my hand.

“Liam I could have done that,” I said as I followed him up the stairs into the airplane.

“I know love but I don’t mind carrying it,” he said smiling at me and I just huffed.

“Liam! You and Mel are in the back!” Lilly exclaimed.

“Got it!” I exclaimed back as we walked in the plane and I saw Louis already in his favorite seat by the bar.

Louis’s head immediately snapped when he heard my voice and I saw his face look shocked before he changed his composure to one of neutral.

“Hi Melanie,” he said.

“Hi Louis,” I replied.

“Liam Payne,” Liam said putting a bag on the ground and stuck his hand out to shake Louis’s, “You and Melanie are childhood friends right?”

I then watched Louis look at Liam’s hand like it was disease ridden and then looked back up at me.

“Yeah we are,” he said and then looked at Liam, “We know everything about each other.”

“That’s what she’s told me,” Liam said.

“How long have you two been dating?” Louis asked, “I don’t remember your mum telling my mum about a boyfriend Melanie.”

“Three months,” I said smiling lightly and up at Liam, “And you know exactly why I didn’t tell anyone about him. You remember when we said we were dating. It was horrible.”

“Wait. . .” Louis said, “He knows. . .”

“About how you two dated?” Liam asked and nodded his head, “Of course I do. We don’t keep secrets in our relationship.”

I was about to respond when I heard Harry’s and Niall’s voice.

“Can you two love birds move it?” Harry asked, “We would like to get to Georgia on time!”

“Wait Georgia,” I said turning around as Liam moved and I looked at Lilly confused.

“So we had a change of plans super last minute,” Lilly grinned sheepishly at me, “So you know how we didn’t expect everyone to come?”
“Yeah,” I said.
“Well everyone is coming and bringing at least one person as a date,” she said, “So we needed to use Papa Walters’s and Nan’s plantation.”

I just grinned and jumped up and down. I remember growing up and spending most of our summers down in Savannah with our father’s parents and learning everything there is to know about being a southern lady from Nan and how to run a plantation from Papa Walters.

“This is even better than going to New York City!” I squealed and everyone laughed as I followed Liam back to where we were sitting and grinned widely at him.

“You’re going to have a love hate relationship with Savannah,” I said.

“Humid weather?” Liam asked and I nodded my head, “but there are plenty of places on the plantation to do morning runs if you would like to join me one day.”

“I would love that,” he grinned and I smiled widely at him.

We all got settled into the plane and the pilot took off. In less than twelve hours we were going to be in one of my favorite places in the world and I could not be more excited.
