Transatlanticism

Chapter VII.

I was getting ready for my dinner with Harry. I wore a simple purple dress that reached my knees in waves and I tied my hair up using a yellow bandana. I wore purple all stars and was just finishing my make up when I heard the bell ring.

“I’ll be there in a sec!” I yelled towards the door as I was putting my mascara stick back into the tube. I took towards the door opening them and revealing a casually dressed Harry. His hair was pulled back into a beanie, some of his curls breaking through the fabric and sticking to his face. His white shirt cling to his body in all of the right places. He wore dark jeans and his white converse.

His face lit up when he took all of me in and he smiled warmly, as if it was to an old friend.

“Broke, you look absolutely amazing.” He leaned in for a hug and I happily embraced him, my nostrils filling with his scent, that well known cinnamon aroma. Our embrace was cut short by Hayden coming to say hi to Harry and they chatted for a couple minutes while I was picking up my things around the flat to put them in my purse.

“Okay, drive safe kids!” Hayden called out as I closed the door. Harry laughed and I just rolled my eyes.

“She’s really nice.” He stated and I nodded.

“She can be a pain in the ass, but she’s a really good friend, you know? I can always count on her. I mean, she’s practically travelled the world with me!” I smiled and saw him in the corner of my eyes.

Soon we were in front of my building and Harry opened the door to his new car for me. I thanked him quietly and got it. Harry had bought a new car. I wasn’t sure how I felt about that. His car was what connected us in the first place – it was what I damaged and what he so passionately defended. I sighed as I watched him enter the car on the other side and pull out of the parking line.

It’s been a while since I was in a car with Harry.

“What happened to your car?” I asked and he smiled, looking in the mirror, never taking his eyes of the road.

“Some idiot scratched it.” He stated and I laughed, punching his shoulder lightly. He looked at me and smiled.

“It’s in my garage.” He winked and we fell into a comfortable silence until we reached the first street light. I was looking around through the window, just letting my eyes linger on the beautiful buildings of London.

“Is everything alright?” Harry’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I looked at him and smiled. His face relaxed and he smiled back.

“Yeah, I’m just looking around, I guess.” I trailed off and felt him grab my hand. My heart instantly started beating faster and I looked down at my thigh where our hands interlocked and then at him. He was looking at the road, his jaw firmly pressed together and I leaned in my seat. I did nothing to remove his hand from mine.

His hand would leave mine only at the times he had to change the gear but it would always find its way back and interlock its long digits with mine. The ride was quiet and comfortable, just the sound of radio playing in the background swimming around the empty space.

“So, how have you been?” the silence was interrupted by him and I nodded.

“Well, very well, I suppose. I’ve finished my studies, as you probably already know. I’ve also re-established my relationship with my dad. It’s been good.” I smiled and Harry nodded.

“How about you?” I asked.

“Well...you know. Same old.” He looked at me and it was my turn to nod. We haven’t talked about anything for the rest of our ride.

As we entered his flat I took of my converse and made myself comfortable on his couch. This is the first time I ever visited his real home. I looked around – Harry had a big TV and a lot of paintings in the room. There was a coffee table in front of me. His walls were painted yellow. He also had some photos of his family so I went to check those out.

“Hey, do you want something to drink?” he asked from the doorway and I looked at him smiling.

“Yes. Water, please.” I answered and he nodded, leaving again. I followed him, this time, walking through his hallway.

I entered the kitchen where he was putting the food on our plates. He smiled when he saw me come in.

“I made this before you came so we don’t waste time.” I sat opposite of him, on one of the counters. He sighed and continued with what he was doing. He seemed quite restless since our drive back to his.

“Are you okay, Harry?” I asked and he averted his gaze towards me.

“Yeah.” He nodded and I grabbed onto his wrist. He looked at the place where our skin met and I pulled right back.

“I know you well enough to know something was wrong.” I looked down and heard him sigh.

“Don’t you get it?” he asked as he dropped everything out of his hands and my eyes locked with his.

“Don’t I get what?” I asked and I heard him sigh again. He leaned against the counter and his eyes fell to the ground. I hopped off of my counter and stood in front of him. Our feet just centimetres away. I leaned against him and he wrapped his arms around my waist as mine find their way into his hair.

“I need you so much closer.” He whispered, his forehead leaning against mine. I wanted nothing more than to kiss him and make him forget about everything. But I couldn’t do that, not yet at least.

“I need you as well.” I replied and his green eyes strolled around my lips lazily.

“I love you.” He whispered “I’ve been a mess ever since. I miss you.” His grip tightened on my waist and right then and there I was sure.

“Are you going to kiss me?” I asked and his eyes closed, his lips leaning against mine.

“I’m so sorry.” He whispered before our lips collided into a passionate kiss. I couldn’t believe this was happening. My mind was in total bliss as our chests crashed together, our breathing heavy. Harry turned us around and with a swift movement set me up on the counter, never breaking our kiss. My hands rested on the back of his neck and he broke our kiss, panting and lowering his head and kissing my neck.

“You have no idea” he spoke in between the kisses “how long I’ve longed for this.”

“For what, Harry?” I moaned his name as he pulled me closer to his body, our crotches colliding.

“For your hands in my hair.” He slowed down his movements, looking me in the eyes every now and then.

“Is that the only thing you’ve longed for?” I teased as I pulled him closer to me, wrapping my arms around his back.

“You know it’s not.” He rested his head in the crook of my neck panting and placing a kiss here and there. I held him close and we just stayed there for what seemed forever.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked, breaking the comfortable silence.

“Why didn’t I tell you what?” he looked at me confused as he lowered his hands on my hips.

“About her.” I didn’t flinch as I let the words flow out of my mouth. I saw his face fall and he stepped away from me.

“I-I didn’t know how.” He shook his head and I placed my hands on his face, cupping it.

“I would’ve understood.” I nodded and he sighed.

“A part of me knew that. But another part was afraid to lose you.” He looked me, sincerity leaking out of his eyes and I smiled at him, pulling him down for another kiss.

I pushed my hands under his shirt and pulled it off his body, my fingers pulling against his chest and abs. He moaned as he kissed my neck and picked me up, carrying me down the hall.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” he asked.

Oh god, someone hold me! I am so happy right now I could cry, if I was the crying type anyway. The Thin Line was the first story I ever read on here and I loved it so, so much. I read the whole thing, as well as Transatlanticism, on my crappy little flip phone before I ever actually went on the site properly. I never commented or anything because I didn't have an account but I would have if I did.

Thank you so, so much for updating! I haven't read the update yet and I'll have to save it for later, but I already know that's it's amazing :)
