The flight was long, but I slept a lot of the time so it seemed to go by fast. I convinced my parents to buy me a first class ticket, because they know I really don’t like flying for a long period of time. And going from San Diego to London was 11 hours.

I went to collect my bags and had a car waiting to take me to my apartment.

I admired the beauty of London at night while we drove. The lights lit up the sky and it reminded me of why I decided to study abroad in London.

It was 8 o’clock when I reached my apartment.

I took a look around and was in awe of the beautiful apartment I would be living in. I was expecting something basic but this was beautiful. I had 3 bedrooms, a living area and an amazing kitchen.

I loved food and cooking so I was extremely surprised and impressed by my kitchen.

The apartment came fully furnished but I couldn’t wait to put my personal touch into my apartment. I’m Pinterest obsessed so I’ve been pinning for months of things I want to decorate my apartment with.

I took my bags upstairs and unpacked the basics. I figured I could unpack everything this weekend.

I took a quick shower and got ready to do some exploring of the nightlife. It was a Friday night and I knew there would be a lot of people out late.

I had planned to fly in on a Friday so I would have Saturday/Sunday to settle in and explore before I started classes at Cambridge University on Monday.

I went to the bar and ordered a beer. (Something I couldn’t do in the U.S. since I was only 19)

The bartender handed me my drink saying “ You’re not from here are you?”

“What gave it away?” I said laughing. “I’m from California. I’m studying abroad here and this is my first night.”

He poured himself a beer and put it up in the air to cheers.

“To your first night in the greatest city in the world!”

We clinked glasses and I smiled.

London was definitely going to be an amazing experience.
