I spent my weekend unpacking and exploring the area around my hotel. I had a Starbucks about 2 blocks from my house and on the way towards campus (which I was extremely thankful for) and there were also a few cute clothing shops, grocery store and a couple nice restaurants.

I stopped by the university store to pick up my textbooks and I looked about the school for a while. It was beautiful and fall was approaching so the trees were starting to get a little color.

I woke up Monday morning and went to the kitchen to start making coffee.

I went upstairs and picked out my outfit for my first day of class. I decided on black tights with a black body con skirt. I threw on a comfy white sweater and black knit infinity scarf. I had on black wedge booties and a brown slouch bag to carry my things in. It was kind of foggy today so I decided to dress a little warmer than I was used to in San Diego.

I went to the bathroom and quickly straightened my long blonde hair. I applied a little makeup, mainly blush and mascara. I was never a huge fan of lipstick but I was obsessed with Eos lip balm. So I made sure to throw that into my purse.

I didn’t like how my hair was looking today so I decided to throw on a black beanie before I left. I poured myself a cup of coffee and headed out the door. I was never a huge fan of breakfast, which come 10:30am I’m sure would haunt me, but I never really had time it was 8:30 and my class started at 9am and went until 11:30am.

Cambridge campus was huge and I had no idea how I was going to find my way around. Luckily, I found a campus map that pointed me in the right direction towards the history building.

I walked up to room 3140 at 8:45am praying that I was in the right place. I saw a seat next to a cute brunette and took my seat.

I turned to him and asked “Is this the room for History 131?”

He looked at me, still wearing his sunglasses, and said “Yeah.”

“YES!” I said enthusiastically, which must have surprised him because he lowered his sunglasses and laughed at me.

I was getting my notebook and things for class out of my bag when he turned to me, “You’re not from here are you?”

“Dang! You British people are good! No, I’m studying abroad here. I got to school in San Diego, California.” I said, putting my bag on the ground and facing him.

He had long brunette hair and was wearing a beanie. He had Ray Ban sunglasses on, which I thought was really weird since we were inside. He smiled at my answer to his question, which revealed his perfect teeth and cute dimple. He was dressed in black pants and a white v-neck t-shirt, which revealed some tattoos on his arm.

“I’m Lindsay, by the way.” I said extending my hand.

“Edward.” He said shaking my hand and smiling. “How are you liking London?”

“It’s beautiful! I’m still finding my way around but I’m really liking it so far.” I said smiling, thinking of the beautiful skyline that I loved so much.

“That’s great! Have you met any friends yet?” he said.

“Unfortunately no. Well besides bartenders.” We both laughed. That probably wasn’t the best impression to give this guy, but I was of legal drinking age here, so I decided to let it slide.

“Well you have me now.” He smiled and I did too. “Let me take you to lunch after class. I’ll show one of my favorite local spots.”

“I would love that.”

The teacher walked into the room and we both smiled and turned towards our notebooks.

My first friend in London, Edward. And he was cute :)
