“I’m going to miss you so much!” My best friend Mia said.

I was leaving tomorrow morning for my flight to London. It was August and I wouldn’t be back home until January. Mia has been my best friend since 6th grade, and even though she’s 2 years older than I am, we are twins.

This summer we did everything together. Concerts, road trips, beach bonfires, etc. We had the summer of our lives and spent basically every day we weren’t working together. Which is why it’s so hard to say goodbye to my best friend for 6 months…. She was coming to visit me for my birthday in November, but that was still 4 months away where we would be in different time zones, and half way around the world from each other.

“I know. I’m going to miss you too! So much!!!” I said back. “These 4 months better fly by! I don’t know how I’m going to survive London without you!”

I continued to pack my things while Mia and I listened to her iPod on shuffle.

She always laughed when One Direction would come on because she knows of my secret fangirl crush on Harry Styles.

We belted “Nobody Compares,” which happens to be my favorite song.

“OH MY GAWWWWD! His voice is so freaking sexy!” I said and Mia laughed.

“What if you meet him? What would you do?!” she asked.

I hadn’t really thought about it to be quite honest. I laughed at the thought!

“Yeah right. They all have to half 24/7 security with them! They’re the most popular boy band in the world. I doubt I will even see them, let alone get to talk to them.” I responded.

Mia agreed and we continued our girls night of watching movies and eating junk food until 4am, when I had to leave for the airport. I said goodbye to my dad and brother and left with my mom for the airport!

We pulled up to the terminal and I got my luggage out of the back of the car.

“I’m going to miss you so much!” Mia said, starting to cry. “You’re my best friend and I don’t know how I’m going to survive without you for 4 months. Be sure to text or call me everyday! I want to hear all about your trip! I’m so excited for you and I hope you have some amazing adventures. But don’t forget about your ratchet thing back in the U.S.”

That last thing made me crack up. Mia and I always use the word ratchet, we’re so obsessed with it. Hahahaha. Especially when we SnapChat.

“Oh my gosh! I love you so much! How could I forget about my twin?! I’m going to send you postcards and we will talk every day! I promise!!! I can’t wait for you to join me in November! I’m sure I’ll be a London expert by then!” I said hugging her.

My mom was next to say goodbye too, which was extremely hard since she was finally realizing that I was growing up.

“You are going to have an amazing time! Be careful with those English boys though, I’m sure they’ll be crazy about you and your American accent.” She said laughing. I laughed too, my mom always knew how to make me smile.

“Your dad, brother and I are so proud of the women you’ve become. Remember that school is your main priority for going to London. We love you so much. I’m so excited for you! This is going to be the trip of a lifetime!” she continued.

“I love you too mom.” I said hugging her goodbye!

Mia and my mom watched me go into the airport and check my bags! I waved and turned around to walk to security.

This was it. No turning back now. London was calling my name.
