Double trouble
Chapter 24
Emma's POV
I didn't get why Brooklyn suspicioned about dad killing mom. I know, she got abused by him and all, but that is no way to blame something on someone.
"Why do you think that?" I said.
"Well," Brooklyn continued, "dad did divorce with mom, from what I know, and the media..." Exactly what I thought.
"I don't know. We'll see." Niall interrupted our talk.
"Well, for now I should keep you girls safe. No bond like yours should ever break apart."
"Thank you.." Brooklyn said. She gave him a big hug. We continued our talk. "So, where is dad anyways?" Brooklyn added.
"I don't know, he is on the run but I don't know where. That's for the media to find out." I said.
"Girls, don't worry. I'm here to keep you safe." Niall said, then hugged us. He smiled at Brooklyn.
"Okay..." Brooklyn said in a happy voice.
"Here, I'll make you girls some dinner."
"Sure." We said in sync.
While eating supper, the phone constantly kept ringing. Niall answered but there was no one on the line.
"How about one of you try." Niall passed the phone to Brooklyn. It rang again. Brooklyn answered.
Brooklyn's POV
Niall passed the phone to me. I didn't want it! It rang and I answered.
"Hello?" A long pause was set. "Hello???"
"Uh, hi." A man said. I recognized the voice.
"Who is this?"
"Move to another room please." I was confused. 'Sorry guys I have to go upstairs for a sec.' I whispered to them. I walked upstairs in my room and closed the door.
"Yes? I moved, nobody's around me."
"This is Ryan.." I swallowed the saliva inside my mouth.
"R-Ryan Hughes?"
"Yes. Is this..."
"Brooklyn, your daughter. Yes. Dad, where are you? I saw you on the news." I was mad, he would call me at a time like this.
"I miss you, why don't you and Emma come move in with me? I'm sure you two haven't found an apartment in London."
"Actually we did." I said confidently. "No. Thanks."
"Well, then." He said in a snarky voice. "Brooklyn, you thought it was over, watch what I can do to you." He got mad.
"W-what about Emma?" Was I the only one who was getting threatened?
"Emma will be fine.." I got scared and worried.
"Well.. I KNOW YOU KILLED MOM!!!! SHE HAD ALL THE TIME IN THE DAY FOR YOU.. BUT NOOO, YOU TOOK EMMA OUT EVERYWHERE WHILE I STAYED HOME WITH HER. YOU LOVED EMMA MORE THAN YOU WOULD EVER LOVE ME. ALL YOU DID TO ME WAS HIT AND ABUSED ME. Trying to keep things secret... THAT'S WHY I ENDED UP DIFFERENT, DEPRESSED." I took a breath. My eyes ran of tears.
"You guessed right, but you know too much.. That's what I don't like about you.. You're a wallflower. You hear things, you keep secret about them and then you understand."
"I AM NOT A WALLFLOWER!!"
"Oh yes you are, you've always been. I'm coming for you brook. You won't even see it coming."
"I'll have two eyes growing in the back of my head by the time you find me.." I fought back.
"Not if I stop you first.." He continued. "Well, I'll talk to you soon.. I Ha-love you.."
"No you don't."
"I don't." He hung up. I grabbed my pillow and screamed in it. I walked downstairs with the phone.
"Here Niall." I sat down on the chair.
"I heard you screaming up there. Are you okay?" Emma said.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"I don't believe you for a single second."
"Okay, I'm not. It was dad. He's in London."
"What? Does he know we're here?"
"I only told him that we had an apartment."
"Okay, it's not that bad." We hugged each other..
"Like I said, don't worry about it.. Superniall is here..!" Niall said. We laughed. "I'm serious!" Next thing you know he banged his thumb on the counter. We laughed. "Damn counter!"
"Ohh, some super Niall you are." I said sarcastically.
"I won't be your superman, but I can be superhuman." He said.
"Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Don't ya think Emma?"
"Yeah." She said.
The laughter died down after a few seconds. And I went upstairs after supper. I was still thinking about dad. Will he find me and Emma? Will Niall protect us?
