Cardio

Savannah's POV:

3pm

'Umm, shouldn't you be telling them to get back to work' Rach said as we watched the commotion from the distance.

They worshipped him.

Hospital staff found out about Harry's frequent visit to the hospital and they also discovered what floor his Nan was in, so they made sure they were there when he arrived. You know what they save, first come first served, that's in regards to autographs, photos and trying to snog the guy. 'Don't worry, he'll be out of here once you discharge his Nan' Rach said. She was right. There'll be no more commotion once his gone.

This was just temporary.

'People your patient's better not be dying or I'm not gonna be one happy woman' Mum called out as she descended down the stairs. Everyone quickly fled to different directions. 'Hun, shouldn't you be at the meeting?' Mum told me. 'Oh crap! I forgot, I'm going now' I ran down the corridors and headed for the conference room. I sat by the presentation Dad was delivering to us Attendings. Sat by, yes I said that, sat by but not really taking in any of what he said.

'Dr. Avery, Dr. Avery? Savannah!' Dad yelled to get my attention. 'Sorry' I sat up properly on the chair and looked at the screen. Focus Savannah, focus. You've been so distracted the whole day.

Harry's POV:
Like Savannah, I think the hospital was starting to become my home as well, I was here everyday. If only she knew that was because I wanted to see her and spend time with her. I went to check on Nan in her room. 'Harry, is this true?' she had a hand on her chest as she watched TV. 'Nan, you need rest' Mum tried to get her to lie down. 'No, I wanna know' she protested. 'Nan come on' I tried to get her to lie down. I looked up the TV as I heard the report.

"Harry Styles cheated on Taylor Swift with ex Cara Delevingne or maybe even two timed. Look's like he really can't commit to a long term relationship. Harry will you ever change? Well, it-" the news continued on.

'Ha..rry, did you re-ally do th-at?' she struggled to breath. 'Come on lie down please' I pleaded. When she had lied down the monitor that she was connected to started to make a different noise, a slower heart beat. 'Nan, Nan' Mum and I panicked as she fainted. Soon nurses came running in the room and hovering around the bed. 'Ma'am we need you to move back' a nurse tried to pull Mum away. 'She was just watching TV' Mum tried to explain. 'Don't let her die, please' she began to sob as she remained next to the bed. 'Ma'am, please move back' the nurse repeated. 'Come on mum' I pulled her back. The nurses were doing all kinda things , giving her injections, changing the bag of fluid that was hanging, checking the monitor, writing on papers. I don't know what was happening.

'She's not responding' a nurse called out. 'Page Dr. Avery' another nurse ordered. 'What's happening?' Savannah's friend Rachel came in. 'She's having a cardiac dysrhythmia (an irregular heartbeat) and she's not responding to the meds' a nurse informed her. 'Give her another dose' Rachel instructed. 'Still no respond doctor' a nurse said. 'Did somebody page Savannah?' she asked loudly. 'I already have' a nurse answered. 'Well page her again!' she yelled. 'Her heart's stopping' someone said the worst thing that could happen. 'CODE BLUE, CODE BLUE!' someone yelled out a term I had no idea meant.

'What's going on?' Savannah ran in the room. 'She's coding, Dr. Avery' a nurse said. She pulled over a trolley with the machine doctor's use to give patients a shock. 'Charge pads at 180' she instructed. Savannah pressed the two paddles on Nan's chest and her chest jerked up then back down. 'No pulse' a nurse by the monitor informed. 'Charge at 200' she instructed and Nan jerked up again. 'Charge 300' she instructed and again no respond. 'Charge AGAIN!' she ordered. ' Doc your supposed to wait til-' a nurse spoke but Savannah cut her off. 'CHARGE AGAIN!' she yelled. She pressed paddles on Nan's chest and her chest rose up then down.

Beep...beep...beep the monitor made a regular rhythm. Mum and I sighed in relief. 'What triggered this? She was good to go home in a couple of days' Savannah asserted. 'Apparently, she was just watching the news' a nurse pointed up the TV. Savannah looked up the screen and I was embarrass of myself, that I was the cause why Nan had troubled breathing. Even though the news wasn't true, well half not. I didn't cheat, I just, well it's complicated.

'Is there anything you need us to do Dr.Avery?' a nurse asked. 'Yeah there is. Make sure the only other way she sees her grandson is IN person and never again anywhere from that damn TV' she walked off looking frustrated. 'How are we supposed to-' a nurse called out. 'Figure something out' she yelled as she left the room.
