Cardio

Savannah's POV:

6 pm

'Savannah,I heard what happen to your patient' Mum joined me in the staff lounge. 'Mum she's alright she just had an irregular heartbeat' I assured her. 'I meant the cause of it. The report about Harry. Look hun, I know you and him have become close lately and- ' I cut her off. 'Mum, you don't think I'm affected by that do you?' I asked in disbelief. 'I'm not. I have no business what he does outside of this hospital His Nan is my only concern not his relationship life' I got up and left.

Was I upset about what happened? Yes! That his own grandson was the cause of it? Yes! That we just spent lunch together and he didn't bring up anything about his relationship life? Yes!

But again he wasn't oblige to tell me anything.

I went to check on Harry's Nan and she was fast asleep. Harry 's Mum was fast asleep by the bedside and Harry was seating near by. 'Hi' Harry stood up when I entered the room. 'I wanna say thank you' he smiled. 'And I wanna say sorry about earlier about the TV' I kept my head down low. 'You don't have to say sorry' he assured me. 'Your personal life is none of my business. I was just worried about how it affected your Nan's condition' I looked up at him. 'I was worried as well' he told me. 'By the way Savannah, my Pop kinda took off from home when he heard what happened to Nan' he started a new topic. 'And my sister thinks he's heading here' he continued. 'But the thing is my Pop has bad eye sight, so driving isn't such a great idea' he added. 'You can't tell your Nan' I warned. 'Anything that might stress her may lead to a cardiac arrest and this time we might never be able to save her' I asserted.

'Savannah' Noah rushed in the room. 'William needs you, there was a massive car accident' he said. I took a look at Harry then bolted out the room.

I walked out of the room and a gurney* wash rush to me with an old man bleeding to death. 'What do we have?' I asked as we brought the patient to a trauma room. 'His right lung is collapse and his got leakages in his heart' William informed me. I heard commotion from the other side of the door and the next thing I know Harry forces his way in as a staff tries told him back. 'Savannah that's my grandpa' he said.

Oh my gosh, another member of his family, who's life was on my hand.'Save him please' he pleaded as he approached the bed. 'Harry, I need you to leave, I can't do my job if your here' I tried to keep a professional tone. 'Just promise me you'll save him, please' he repeated. 'Sir, we will do everything but we can't guarantee anything' William told him. Harry slowly retreated towards the door. 'Inform the OR that were coming up' I told the nurse and we rushed the patient out for surgery.

3 hours later in surgery

'Savannah, let it go' William tried to pull my hand away that was still fiddling around the heart. 'Noo' I yelled. 'His heart has failed 3 times and we have a protocol to stick by' he sounded annoyed. 'I don't care about the damn protocol!' I raged and continued to try and save the man.

'Savannah a word please' I hear Mum's voice as she entered the room. But I refused to stop what I was doing. 'Dr. Avery now!' she shouted when I ignored her. I pulled my hands out of the open body and took my gloves off. I followed her outside where Dad was waiting. 'You gotta let him go' Dad instructed. 'No, I can still save him' I asserted. 'Honey,I know you want to save him because his Harry's family. And that you and Harry have been close lately, but if its his time, then you-' I cut her off. 'No Mum, this is nothing personal. I will not back away from this patient' I exclaimed and when back into the room.

Harry's POV:
I paced back and forth outside the operation room. The lads rushed over here when I told them what happened. 'Harry, come on have a seat' Louis motioned me towards the seats. Mum was seating next to him trying to stop crying. Then the double doors opened and the people in blue uniform walked out. 'Is he okay?' Mum asked around but they walked pass with heads down. 'Dr.Mckenzie, what happened?' I asked when I came across him. 'Someone will be here to talk to you' he told me and left

Two more people came out behind the double doors. They weren't wearing the blue uniform that surgeons work but they had ID's and stethoscope around their necks. 'Hi, I'm Dr.James Avery and this is my wife Dr.Elizabeth Avery' he came up to us. 'Your Dr. Savannah Avery's parents. How come she's not coming out here?' I asked getting worried.

'You need to know, when your grandpa was in surgery his heart failed many times' the lady broke the bad news. 'And we have a policy here, that if a patient's heart fails after three times.... You gotta let them go' the man informed us. 'Noo, nooo' Mum cried out.

'But...' the woman began. 'But what?' I asked. 'Our daughter is very stubborn and she broke the rules' the man let out a small smile. A smile that was very confusing at a time like this. 'What do you mean?' I asked confused.

'Mr. Styles, our daughter was able to save your Pop. But his still in a very critical stage so we have to monitor him extra closely' the woman now smiled. 'Oh thank you, thank you so much' Mum gave her a hug. I was shocked but in a happy way. 'It's okay. But its our daughter that you should be thanking' the lady clarified. 'Do you know where she is?' I asked.

Savannah's POV:
This was exactly what I needed, fresh air. I went to the rooftop it was my favourite place in the hospital beside the O.R. This was the first time I broke hospital protocols and I don't know why I did it, apart from the reason that I wanted to save the patient but there must have been another reason.

'In the last 24 hrs, I attended Harry's party, then had lunch with him, then discovered about infamous reputation, saved his Nan from a near cardiac arrest... and now just saved his Pop's life' I sighed as my day revolved around him.

'Hey' I heard a familiar voice from behind. And that's when I knew why I did it. 'Thank you' Harry expressed his deep gratitude as he stood next to me. 'I only did what I can' I told him. 'No, you did more than you can. You broke the rules to save my Pop. You've save two members of my family. I can't thank you enough' he said with so much sincerity.
