Save My Love

He was everywhere. And even if he wasn't, he was.
Although I'd only run into him twice, I began mistaking everyone for him. Double-take practically became my middle name, and I was becoming paranoid over it.
But, I was excited for it?
My heart would skip a couple times when I thought I saw the blonde stranger, who, wasn't really a stranger anymore. I couldn't tell you why, but something about how he was always there made me feel safe, and at peace.
It was Saturday, and I wasn't really doing much when I heard the doorbell.
"Pip! Can you get that?" Zayn called, probably playing another video game. I got up, and was surprised to see a UPS truck parked in our driveway. I opened the door and saw the man carrying a box that barely fit under his arm.
"Package for Zayn Malik? I need a signature."
"He's busy at the moment, can I sign for him?"
"Sure thing, hon."
I thought it odd he called me that, but accepted the handheld device and signed my name.
"Pippa, yeah? Good name," he commented again, finally looking up from the ground.
Well what do you know.
"Oh, I didn't recognize you, I'm sorry!" I explained, flustered. He just smiled.
"Do you wanna come in? You look freezing!" I opened the door wider, noticing his ripped jeans and flimsy button-up.
"Oh no, I'm on a tight schedule, but thanks! Have a nice day," he waved and grinned, walking away. I was about to shut the door after I waved back, but my mouth started running before I could stop myself.
"Hey! Uh, kinda weird we keep seeing each other, isn't it?"
"I suppose it is," he chuckled, turning back and stepping back towards the porch.
"Well, I mean, I think we should plan our next meeting before fate does it for us, you know?" I rambled.
"Mhm," he smirked.
"Sorry, that came out weird. I, uh, just meant to say that my name's Pippa and it's nice to officially meet you for the third time."
"Niall. It's a pleasure again," he tipped his dumb little baseball cap with the UPS logo on it. I didn't really know what else to say, and just stood there like any good flirt would.
"Welp, here's your package. See you around, Pippa."
I took the package, said goodbye and shut the door. Did that just happen? Did I just say that? Why?
Snapping out of it, I took the package to Zayn and went back to my room, rethinking everything that happened within the past 5 minutes. It all seemed so bizarre; so coincidental. That's when I remembered I forgot to give him my number.
"And I'm pretty sure this isn't for me," a voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked up to see Zayn pointing the package at me, 7 digits scribbled on the side with a smiley face. I knew my face lit up as I quickly typed the number in my phone before he left again.
"My brother was flattered when he saw your number on his package :)" I sent. No less than a minute later, I got a reply. So I texted him throughout the day, time flying by without my knowledge.
"Will you unglue your eyes from your phone so I can talk to you?" my mom jokingly accused.
"Oh, sorry," I shrugged, not even noticing she was home already.
"She's been stuck on that all day. Good luck with that," Zayn piped up.
"Not like you take breaks from your video games."
"Not like I have homework to do."
"Shut up."
"Really, you two?" my mom asked, hands on her hips. We quit immediately.
"So, why have you been so caught up in your phone?" she continued.
"No reason really."
"The UPS guy gave her his number."
"Zayn!" I whined.
"Does my little Pippa have a boyfriend?"
"No."
"Zayn, you should go meet him. Make sure he's not a punk," she suggested.
"I don't wanna get involved with the UPS guy any more than signing for my packages."
"Can we just let it go? I met him at the park, not from the stupid mail. Then I got cheese all over him at a game, so even if I did like him, I wouldn't have a very good chance at this point."
"Smooth moves."
"Shut up Zayn."
"Alright guys. Let's try to play nice, alright?"
And with that, we ate dinner in silence.
