"Pipipipipipipip!"

"What?" I asked, slightly rolling my eyes towards the excited girl next to me.

"Well. Who pissed in your corn flakes today?"

"No one. I'm just tired. Sorry."

"Oh. Well you will never guess what happened."

"Hm?"

"After the game last Friday, I went out with Liam and a group of friends and we had a great time! And before I left, he hugged me! Isn't he so nice?"

"Sounds like a great guy," I replied.

"Whatever happened to you and that blonde guy?"

"What do you mean?" I asked, wondering why everyone assumed there was something going on.

"Well you two were pretty into each other at the game."

"We were just talking."

"No kidding. I barely got a word in after he showed up."

"Sorry. I was just bored."

"I think you were flirting," she smirked, nudging me.

"I don't think I was," I lied slightly.

"Whatever you say," she smiled wider. She loved to tease me whenever a guy was involved.

I searched the aisles of Wal-Mart, looking for whatever soup my mom had claimed was "crucial" for tonight's dinner. My eyes followed the labels, getting closer and closer with every can. I stopped at the empty space, hoping desperately that it wasn't the kind I needed. But, with luck like mine, I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

I sighed, standing up from my crouching position. Should I check another store? Should I call mom? It normally wouldn't be a big deal, except that everyone in the house had had a long day, and this just topped it all off.

"Looking for this?"

I turned, just to find myself face-to-face with exactly what I needed.

"Yes! Thank you," I exclaimed.

"It's all yours," the voice chuckled. And boy, you guessed it. Niall.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say fate is trying to tell us something," he grinned.

"And what's that?"

"I think it's telling me to ask a pretty young lady out on a date."

"Oh really?" I felt heat slowly rising up my neck.

"If it's alright with her, of course."

"Well, according to fate, it is."

His grin turned into a bashful smile as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Well, I guess I already know where you live, so how about I pick you up Friday?"

"Sounds good," I agreed, suddenly feeling very timid around the attractive man.

"Alright. See you then," he winked before backing up and disappearing into another aisle.

My first thoughts went to Friday, and how nervous I felt. Not like I hadn't been alone with before, but not in a romantic setting. My seconds thoughts went to how I would tell my mother that I had a date with a college student a few years older than me. My last thoughts went to how Sammi would react when I told her that I also had a date with the boy who was always on my mind.
