Mel POV

Just wear anything, Nobody will notice. The words cut deep, even now, hours later as she pulled into her home, not Harry’s but hers before she moved into his home. She needed her time, her space and her silence for a while.Her evening with her family was nice. They were still mad but Aria helped won them over and her grandmother was helping out with her parents. They are still mad about her been married without them, but she needs to introduce Harry to them.
Nobody will notice. The implication being that nobody really looked at her anyway, or that nobody cared. Nobody saw her as anything but the woman on Harry’s arm. She knew that people saw her and what she wore because she was with harry, not because she was special in her own right. She didn’t feel bad for letting him attends to the event by himself, maybe this would teach me to inform her about his plans and what events he wants her to accompany him to. Letting herself into her house, as she breathed in the sense of been at home. She walked through to her couch and sank down with Aria and Max on to it.
Mel knew that her longing to be home had little to do with her one night with Harry. It had more to do with the fact the she saw the writing on the wall, that she was never going to be the love of his life and she was not going to be the one to break down the barriers around his heart. She needed to accept it and figure out a way forward. Despite everything Mel was finding herself more and more drawn to Harry, maybe sleeping with him probably didn’t help the situation. Harry could make intense love to her body, make her feel things she’d never felt before, but he couldn’t give her his heart. When she looked past the ice around his heart, she saw a man had the capacity to love, but chose not to.Mel turned around and noticed Aria staring at her with a questionable look.
“Mummy, are you okay?” she asked.
“Yes, sweetie, Mummy is fine and thanks for asking.”
“Okay, mummy. Can we please go home because daddy would be waiting for us?”
“Sure, grab Max’s leash and then we would be on our way home.”
Walking around her house, she picked up a photo of her and Lillian, smiling at the camera; she felt her eyes well up. Damnit, Lilli, she thought. Why did you do this to me? You could have dealt with this man better than I can and you would never let yourself get emotionally invested in him like I’ve done. Setting the frame back down and she walked toward Aria and Max, as she loaded them into the car.
By the time they arrived home, she was feeling sleepy and Aria was already asleep. Letting herself into Harry’s home, she headed upstairs to her room, where she lay around down on her bed and joined her late. She was sound asleep when she was awakened two hours later. She wasn’t sure at first, but the footsteps in the hallway told her that Harry was home. The soft giggles she heard after caused her to sit up, silently slipping out from the bed so that she doesn’t wake Aria up. Mel leaned her ear against to door where she heard the giggles again, followed by a low chuckle.
So Harry had brought a woman home, Mel felt sad and disappointed as she went downstairs because she needed to be sure before she called her lawyer and filed in for a divorce.
“Mel?”
“Gwen?” Harry’s sister was her?
“I’m sorry, we didn’t mean to wake you,” Gwen said, giving her a quick hug. “Harry wanted to show me Aria and her dog Max, they were not in Aria’s room and he thought that they would be in your room.”
Mel was still reeling because there was no woman. Her expression must have concerned Gwen, who just looked at her carefully. “Are you ok?” she asked. Mel just nodded. She’d sort out her feeling later. “I’m fine. Just a little tired,” she smiled. “Come on upstairs.” Over Gwen’s shoulder, she saw Harry smile. She thought that Harry had known just what she was thinking, and he was enjoying her discomfort.
