Business Proposal

The Next Morning

Harry POV
Last night with Rose was amazing but Harry couldn’t help but feel guilty. Everything that happened between them was filled with more passion then he had ever felt with another woman. He looked over at Rose and pulled her closer toward him with his arms around her. She was still sleeping and she was looked even sexier. Her hair fanned out on his pillow and her beautiful face was completely relaxed. Harry could watch her all night and day or even freeze this moment but unfortunately his daydreaming was interrupted by their four year old daughter, who walked over to the bed with sleepy eyes. She reached out and gently shook the blanket trying to get their attention.
“Morning, Aria.” He said as he gently gave her a kiss on her cheek and placed her on his laps.
“Morning, daddy,” she responded with a kiss.
“C’mon sweetie, let go and leave mummy to rest, okay.”
“Okay, daddy.”
Harry quietly carried Aria out of the bed and carefully closing the door behind him. They went into the kitchen and Lucy was just finish cleaning the kitchen.
“Morning, Aunty Lucy.”
“Good morning, Aria. And Good morning, Mr Styles,” replied Lucy.
“Good morning, Lucy. Could you please prepared some breakfast for Aria, while Rose is still sleeping. And can you please take Aria out today because I promised her but I can’t make it.”
“Yeah sure, Mr Styles.”
“Thank you, Lucy.” He said before turning his attention back to his daughter.
“Aria, mummy is still sleeping and Aunty Lucy is taking you out today to anywhere of your choice okay.”
By the time he went upstairs to his room, Rose was still asleep and he didn’t want to wake her up. He quickly got change and was getting ready to head out to his office; Aria had already eaten her breakfast and was getting showered.

Mel POV
Mel awake to the feel of little tiny dog paws walking over her face, she giggled at the sight of the dog (Max) hopping over her to the space next to her on the bed.Turning around in the bed expecting to find Harry there beside her, but she found nothing but an empty spot which was cold-he’d been up for some time.
Pushing aside the wave of anxiety that hit her, she pulled on the robe that Harry had pulled off of her last night as she lets Max out from the room. She walked down the hallway to Aria’s bedroom and she wasn’t in her room, so Mel went downstairs to check if she would be there with Harry.
She checked around the house and nobody was around, she went to the kitchen and found a note from Lucy.
“Good morning Mel, Aria and I went out and we would be late.
Lots of Loves from Me and Aria. Xoxo

Mel went upstairs into her room and placed the dog on the floor of her room, and went into the bathroom to take a shower.
Mel thought back to the reason why Harry had gotten up this morning without waking her up. She knew that it was likely that he was regretting last night and wondering how to tell her that things had gotten out of hand, but that he was sorry. She also knew that he’d probably be cold this morning toward her and the walls of defences would be back up. She was kidding herself when she thought that once she had broken the walls that they would be down.
After showering and pulling on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, looking at herself in the mirror, she gave a sigh of relief. She was going to her grandmother’s house for advice on how to deal with last night incident. She straightened up her room before heading back in to Harry’s room; she made the bed properly before she crated Max and headed for Gran’s.
At Gran’s
Gran took one look at Mel when she opened the door for her. “You slept with your husband right?”
“Yes, I did,” Mel admitted as she walked into the house and made herself comfortable on the couch.
“So how was it?”
“The sleeping with him part was beyond amazing, it was more than I hoped for it to be. But it was the morning part that went downhill.”
“What happened?”
“He was gone before I got up, no kiss on the forehead, not even breakfast in bed. He was just gone and so was Aria, but she went out with Lucy.” She looked up at her grandmother with a pained expression. “What have I done to myself, Gran?” she whispered.
“What any woman in your position would do Mel, that husband of your is a temptation personified. So don’t beat yourself up over it.”
Mel shook her head ruefully. “I’m an idiot.”
“No you are not; he is the idiot for not appreciating my beautiful and sexy granddaughter.” But Mel just sighed and leaned back on the couch. “So what do I do now?” she asked.
“You’ve got lots of options, Mel. Option A is going home today and pretending that last night never happened. No glances or the silent treatment, just treat him like you normally do. And that would drive him crazy. Option B would be talk to him like an adult with issues to deal with.”
“Maybe I could get Aria to join in as well.”
“Probably not, since she is loves him just as much as she loves you.”
“I should have known this would happen,” she said quietly.
“Mel relax, you know about his personality before this happen and you would manage to deal with it. But maybe he might just needed time to think things through. So give him all the time he needs to think and see what happens.”
“You’re right. Okay I would go with option A because if I try option B, he’ll shut down. We’ll talk when he is ready.”
“Good choice, let’s go get coffee before we hit the grocery stores.”

Pulling into the garage a few hours later, pulling the tote bag full of produce from the car and walked into the house. This was going to be the hardest thing she’d ever done, she thought. Harry was home because his car was in the garage. She heard vague sounds coming from his study. She went outside to let Max out into the backyard while she changed and headed back downstairs to the kitchen, and packed all the groceries into its place. She took Max to the local park where they both run around park.
When she finally walked back home Harry was standing by the sink looking out the back window. Here we go, she thought.
“Hey,” she said as she strolled over to the fridge. Harry turned around with a tight expression on his face, obviously expecting her to ask him about last night. But she grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and walked over toward him.
“Hey, huh Aria is upstairs in her room sleeping. So if you wanted to check up on her.”
Mel sighed. “Ok I’ll go check.” Mel headed for the stairs and she felt Harry’s eyes on her, but he didn’t say a word. Maybe Gran was right, she thought. This was the way to play it. They’d talk when he was ready. She check up on Aria and she was laying down peacefully sleeping and she felt responsible for bring her up in this mayhem. She went back into her room and place Max on the floor as she grabbed her robe and headed into the shower. Under the steaming water, Mel replayed her conversation with Harry and her guess was right, harry was uncomfortable around her now, last night he wanted her but it was clear that in the light of the day there was nothing between them. They might not have anything between them during their years of marriage but Mel wants them to come out as friends if the lovers’ part didn’t work out. Mel knew that Harry needed her and even if it hurt and even if he never touched her again like he had last night, she would try her hardest to support him.
Stepping out of the shower, Aria and her pet dog Max were playing in her room. She walked over and kissed Aria. She put on a pair of blue jeans and a t-shirt, she went into Aria’s room and packed spare clothing for her and they was ready to go over to her parents’ house for dinner. They went downstairs and Mel was picking up her purse and Aria’s, when she looked up to see Harry coming down the stairs all dressed up in dark suit and tie. Her heart clenched at the sight of him. He looked sexy and well kind of angry.
“You’re not ready yet?” he asked.
“Ready for what, Harry?”
“For the Cocktail party at Tiffany’s.”
Mel thought really hard trying to remember if she marks it down on her calendar. “When did you tell me about this?” she asked cautiously.
“Last week and you forgot?”
“Harry, Last week you weren’t at home. And I would have remembered a cocktail party because it thrown me into the state of panic as I tried to figure out what to wear.”
“Well we still have time. Just wear anything and nobody would notice you.”
Mel looked up at her husband and blinked. He was an insulting rude and incredibly frustrating man, too bad she liked him but she wasn’t going to cancel on her parents just when their relationship was starting to mend and they have accepted her decision and Aria as their granddaughter.
“No I’m not going and you’ll have to go by yourself because I have plans and I am not changing it.”
Anger flashed briefly in his eyes. “Rose, you’re my wife...”
“Yes I’m aware of that, but if you can’t be bothered to tell me to accompany you to social events, then I can’t be bothered to go.”
His eyes narrowed. “If this is about...”
“Don’t even go there, Harry. Just don’t. Have fun tonight,” she said, turning around reaching out for her keys and Aria. She looked over toward him and the cold emotionless man was back staring back at her, as she headed toward her car.

Harry POV
Harry was stunned because he had expected her to change her plans for him. What types of plan would she have that she had to take Aria and her dog Max? He thought.Usually she was free when he asked her to accompany him to social events, but she had just taken their daughter and walked out.
Harry was more surprised that she didn’t seem to want to talk about last night or this morning. She was acting like it had never happened. Any other woman he knew would have wanted to analyse it to death and would want to know why he’d left her bed this morning and disappeared. And his cold response would be- he had things to do at work and couldn’t bother to lie around all day. But the problem was he had badly wanted to lie around with Rose, she was amazing last night and he had gratefully taken what she offered with such kindness. But this morning feeling the way he did despite his feeling for Rose, he wasn’t so sure if he wanted a real relationship. He had never wanted an emotional connection with anyone and it scared his that he felt it with Rose.
He rubbed his face. What in the hell had he been thinking last night? Other than that he wanted his wife more than he wanted air to breathe? And still did, if he was honest her complete lack of interest in last night surprised, because she had given herself to him freely, willingly passionately but maybe that was what she wanted -one night and one night only. The most important question was, what was he going to do about Rose?
