Mel POV
Morning came quickly as Mel took a quick shower, and then went downstairs to make breakfast, with Aria and Max on her trail. She felt, rather than heard Harry come in behind her. “Morning,” she said quietly, looking over her shoulder at him.
“Morning, Rose and Aria,” he said, reaching into the fridge for an orange. But Aria just looked at him and walked away. Harry and I were surprised at Aria’s but didn’t say anything. But Mel could see the hurt expression from Harry but he quickly hide all traced of hurt.“Come into my study when you’re done with breakfast,” he told her. “I’d like to talk to you.
Mel nodded. “OK,” she agreed softly, wondering what he wanted to talk about. A few minute later, Mel made her way down the hall to Harry’s study. Leaning in the door way, she asked, “What’s happening?”
He motioned her into the room, and then asked, “What are your plans today, Rose?”
She shrugged as she sat down on the edge of the couch. “The usual, Church with Grans and then family dinner, why?”
“Because I was thinking that we could have a family day, and maybe try to deal with the tension between us.”
“Harry I wouldn’t called it tension, but I’m not abandoning my family for you.”
Harry shrugged, leaning back in his chair, “Then I could go with you to meet with them.”
Mel shook her head. “You can meet with them any other time. I’m not putting my family in the middle of whatever is going on between us. It bad enough that I can’t shield Aria from this mess but I’m not getting my family involved.”
“What is going on between us, Rose?” he asked softly.
“I really don’t know, Harry. I think that the other night we both got carried away the other night. Don’t worry I am not asking for us to talk about our feelings.”
Harry narrowed his eyes. “But was I wrong?”
Mel laughed. “Yes, Harry you were wrong. The other night was a mutual thing it happens. It done now and I know that you don’t want to be in a relationship. so my heart is well and truly guarded like you’re, so weare even.”

He looked at her shrewdly then. “You thought I’d brought another woman home with me last night,” he challenged her.
“Yes I did.”
“And you thought you could get out of our marriage contract.”
“Sure did.”
“Sorry to disappoint you,” he said.
Mel laughed back. “Me too. But it was nice to see Gwen.”
Harry hesitated, he then said quietly, “Rose, I may not be a nice guy, but even I wouldn’t stoop so low as to bring a woman back to our house after the night we shared together. And for what it’s worth, I’m sorry,” he said, figuratively holding out an olive branch.
Mel nodded her acceptance of his apology. She knew that even saying that much had been hard for him. “I need to go now, Harry. Are we good now?”
Harry eyed her for several seconds. “I’m not sure, since Aria is now upset at me. But I’m not entirely sure about us, Rose. But we would talk more later.”
Mel nodded. “Harry, I am sure that Aria would be fine and for what it’s worth I’m happy been here with you. But I have one request.”
Harry raised his eyebrow.
“Just don’t touch me again.” Mel saw the flinch that appeared on Harry’s face. So she explained. “If you are going to touch me again, you would have to mean it, harry.”
Harry nodded slowly. “Fair enough,” he said after a moment.
Mel got up from the couch. “You’re a hard man and I know that, but I need to survive the next two years of our marriage.” she walked over to the door and gave his a slight smile. “See you later, Harry. Have a good day.”

Harry POV
Don’t touch me again. Until she had said that, Harry wasn’t aware of how much he wanted to. He wanted to do more than touch her, he realised that he wanted to kiss her everywhere, to touch her and to lose himself in her. But he saw her vulnerability and he understood, he had behaved like an ass the other morning and she was right to protect herself. He still didn’t want a relationship. Or did he? The happiest he’d felt in years was when he was sitting at home with Aria or sitting in the kitchen, eating Mel’s food and drinking good wine. Having a conversation with her, he likes having her by his side at events, and last night she was missed. He was surprised that many people had asked him where she was. He knew that everyone that had seen them as couple liked her. His sister, Gwen loved her. His Mother and Step-Father loved her, even his aunty was warming to her, and she was disappointed when he told her that Rose couldn’t make it. Her suspicious look made him feels like a kid, when she said something like, ‘She’s good for you, just don’t let her go’, which was completely out of character for her.
What had he said to Rose last night? Something about people not noticing her. He had said it offhand without thinking, he now realised her cruel and wrong he was because people really noticed her. He couldn’t pursue her unless he was sure that he wanted to be in her life. Until then, he needed to leave her alone. As much as he wanted her, physically but he needed to back away.
