Who can you trust?

Who can you trust?

Now I could fully understand why most people hated to ride on planes. The entire ride made me feel like I was ready to shoot the next person who looked at me the wrong way. The entire ride I looked at Cierra as she tried to calm me down.
“London is just another few miles away.” She had to assure me every ten minutes it felt like.
I groaned, “You know this is why I never get on airplanes, right?”
She laughed while she tried to chew the food the flight attendant brought her, “Yes. That’s why I didn’t take you to Australia with me on the school trip last year.” she chimed as she swallowed her food.
I rolled my eyes and placed my ear buds in trying to block out the sound of the complaining passengers on the flight. I turned up the volume and listened to Viva La Vida on my ipod until Cierra punched me in the arm and pointed to my phone that began to ring. I looked down at it for a moment and saw Chance began to call me.
I remembered Chance well, he was my best friend back in grade school before he moved away. He was my wall when my father left because he happened to be in town that week my father had abandoned us. He promised he’d keep in contact whenever he could. We went a year without talking and now he was calling me on my phone.
I quickly picked up my phone, “Chance?”
His voice came through, making me smile, “Hey there, Mitche-boo.”
“It’s so good to hear from you! I’ve missed you!” I smiled. I looked over to Cierra and we both made an excited face.
“I’ve missed you too! Hey, do you think I could come over soon?” He asked.
I waited for a moment before I answered, “Well, I’m kinda on a plain to London to visit with Cierra and her cousin for a little bit while mom is in the hospital..”
“Oh..” his voice filled with disappointment, “so when do you believe you’ll be back?”
I looked at Cierra as she mouthed we’d be there for a month or two.
“It’s going to be about a month or two, Chance. My mom told me to go off with Cierra until she finished everything back home.”
“Well, where’s Kayla staying?” He asked me.
“With my Aunt Barbara. If you want to go see her then that should be fine.”
“We’ll, I’d rather see you, but alright.” He told me.
“Alright..so I’ll see you later?” I asked hopeful.
“I suppose so.”
“Sweet!” I went to hang up.
“Wait!” He said.
“What is it, Chance?” I asked
“I-I-I love you, Mitchie.”
I hesitated, “Bye.” I hung up.
I placed my phone down and look off into space while I tried to wrap my brain around what happened.
“So, what did Chance want?” Cierra asked me teasingly as she poked my side.
“Just to hang out, and will you stop that?” I asked her, “That shit is annoying.”
“I heard something else, Mitchie. You know you can’t fool me. What else did that boy tell you!?” She was so eager to hear my answer. I really didn’t have a choice, but to tell her.
I let out a sigh, “He said he loved me.” I mumbled.
“I’m sorry, what was that?” She said placing her hand to her ear, “I cannot hear what tho hath said.”
“I fucking said he said he loved me! Okay?” I blurted out, “God damn! You’re such a nosy as swipe.”
She smiled and shrugged, “Guilty as charged, my dear.”
I rolled my eyes and groaned, “You’re a bitch.”
She smiled at me, “You’re a cunt, but I love you. So, I suppose we’re even!”
With that, we ended up giggling together. Soon enough, we heard the pilot say, “Ladies and Gentlemen please prepare for landing. We’ll be arriving in London in just a few minutes. Thank you.”
****
London airports are crowded as fuck. I’m just saying. I almost lost Cierra in the crowd, but I would notice her pink hair from near or far.
“I can’t believe you talked me into coming here.” I said as I looked around trying to adjust to my new surroundings.
“Come on, you’re going to get to meet some famous people! You’re going to be living the high life for two months! Maybe more if you want.” She smirked.
“Yeah, yeah. Nice try.” I patted her back, “I have a sick mom back in the U.S., you know?”
Cierra shrugged, “Hey, you only live once! Why not live it up? C’est la vie!”
“I don’t care if I only live once, Cierra. I’m here two months and that’s it.” I said, “That’s final.”
She shrugged over at me, “We shall see.”
“What do you mean we-”
“PERRIE!” Cierra screamed across the airport. I placed my finger into my ear and pretended to wipe away blood.
“Thanks for murdering my ear.” I said.
She paid no mind to me, “Over here! Hey! Perrie and Zayn! Zerrie!” She waved her arms to get their attention. Two people turned their heads and started to walk towards us.
There was a guy who had dark skin, dark hair, and a scruffy beard. He had his hand held onto a girl who looked almost like Cierra with platinum blonde hair and a thick British accent when she spoke. The two girls smiled at each other and greeted themselves with a huge hug and a secret handshake neither me nor the guy could understand. I slowly walked around them and tried to make myself acquaintanced with the boy.
“Do you feel as awkward as I do right now?” I asked him.
I heard him chuckled, “Not really. You get used to it.”
“Well, this is the first time I’ve traveled with Cierra, so I’m not used to it.”
“You’re new here, aren’t you?” He took off his shades and looked at me.
I shrugged, “Yeah. First time out of the United States. I’m Mitchie, by the way.” I held out my hand to great the boy. Without hesitation he put out his hand and shook mine.
“I’m Zayn.” he said with a grin, “I take it you’re the girl Perrie said that’s going to be staying with us?”
“Huh?” I asked in confusion, “I didn’t know I was staying with anyone.”
The girl came in, “Zayn, you weren’t supposed to tell her! It was a surprise!”
“Sorry, Perrie…I guess I forgot.” Zayn confessed as he placed his hand on his neck and turned bright red.
Perrie laughed at him and kissed his lips, “I still love you.”
“Erm, I had to interrupt,” I said, “but where are we going to stay? I’m confused.”
Perrie looked at me and gave me a hug, “You and Cierra will be staying with Zayn and I at our flat together! I’m looking forward to getting to know you! I’ve heard so so much about you and what you’ve gone through, Mitchie!”
I looked over at Cierra, who just smiled like an idiot, “Have you now?” I said to Perrie while I bit down on my lip and glared at Cierra.
Cierra lifted her hands up in the air, “I’m innocent until proven guilty!”
I found myself rolling my eyes again. I watched as the girls continued to chat up a storm for another few minutes before Zayn and I looked at each other and both silently agreed it was time to go.
“Ladies,” Zayn said as he took our bags, “I think we need to get going. It’s almost time for the boys to come over and greet the girls.”
Perrie’s eyes grew wide, “I can’t believe I forgot! Dammit!” She took Cierra and I by the hand, “Zayn, you got the bags?”
“Yes, babe.” He said trailing behind Perrie as we were drug to a car waiting outside of the airport.
“Here we come, London!” Cierra screamed.
