Like Crazy (Harry Styles & Niall Horan AU)

Chapter Nine

Asking Makenzie out was kind of an impulse move, so I wasn't exactly sure of where to take her.
There was a huge street fair going on in Times Square, so I decided to take her there.
It seemed like something Kenzie would enjoy.
I ran my hands through my hair a few times in the mirror before heading out to get Julia.
I dropped her off with Niall and headed to Kenzie's house.
I knocked on the door and she opened it moments later. "Hey!" She smiled.
"Hey," I replied, embracing her in a hug.
She looked beautiful.
"So where are we going?" She asked, looking at me with excitement in her eyes.
"It's a surprise," I winked at her.
The drive there was pretty quiet, the soft hum of the radio was the only noise.
When we got there her smile only grew wider. I helped her out of the car as we walked onto the midway.
Their were stands and booths set up everywhere, selling things from flowers to food and there were so many people you could barely see the ground.
"So," I began, "what do you want to do first?"

JULIA'S POV
: I made something up when Niall asked why he couldn't take me home.
I felt bad not telling him the truth, but Harry and I both decided to wait before I tell Niall and he tells Makenzie.
He reluctantly agreed and left. It had been about thirty minuets since then, and here I was still waiting for Harry.

I walked back and forth in a straight line, checking my watch every five minuets. I was getting restless and bored and quite frankly, pissed off.
We agreed on when to meet and nearly 45 minuets later, I was here alone. I didn't fully know what I was feeling. Was he having so much fun with Makenzie that he completely forgot about me?
After an hour of waiting I had had enough. I leaned down and pulled off my heels, and like the New Yorker I am, I began the walk home.
HARRY'S POV:
Makenzie and I had done about everything possible at the street fair.
It was getting late and we were about to leave.
"Omigosh we aren't leaving until we do that," She said, pointing to the huge Farris Wheel.
Part of me wished she hadn't noticed that. I hated heights, but I didn't want Kenzie to think I was a pussy so I didn't argue.
She took me by the hand and practically ran to the Farris Wheel.
I handed the man operating the ride some money and he opened the door to the cart for us. I sat next to her, trying to mask my fear.
If I moved an inch the cart would start to rock, so I sat still as a statue.
"Um are you okay Harry?" Kenzie asked when the ride started moving.
"Yeah," I said, nonchalantly.
I held tight to the bar holding us in whenever the wheel stopped so more people could board. Finally the wheel started moving at a steady rhythm and I relaxed a bit.
"Thanks for taking me tonight," Kenzie said.
"Of course. I had a great time," I said.
Just as I was relaxing, people began to get off, and with my luck, we stopped at the top.
It felt like some sappy scene from a movie. The couple goes to a carnival and at sunset they're on a Ferris wheel together as they kiss.
So cliche.
The subset was beautiful, and it was getting darker out. Kenzie scooted a little closer to me- if that was even possible.

I looked at her, and just as I predicted, she leaned in. I froze. Did I want to kiss her? Yes. But something about it just felt Wong...
Our lips were inches apart, when I heard a loud screech. The Ferris wheel was going down. I was kind of relieved I didn't kiss Kenzie, and I don't even know why.
I wonder if Julia kissed Niall tonight.
Wait, Julia!
I face palmed. How could I forget her?
I quickly looked at my phone, to see I had twelve missed calls and several new texts.
I'm such a douche bag.
We finally got back to the main platform and I literally jumped out of the cart.
"I'm sorry, but we really need to go," I told Kenzie.
"Um ok. Is something wrong?" She asked.
"No it's just.. I'm supposed to be home already. You know my parents," I lied.
"Yeah," she laughed.
We raced to my car and I drove at least ten miles above the speed limit the whole way home.
"Thanks for coming Kenzie. And I'm really sorry about having to leave so unexpectedly," I said.
"Don't worry about it. Ill see you soon," she said, leaning over and kissing my cheek before leaving.
Now to find Julia.
