Niall's POV:

"Samantha?" As the utterly heartbreaking name escaped my lips, I couldn't feel anything. My hands trembled, my knees shook. Samantha opened her mouth, but Louis stepped forward.

"It was my fault," he said, and continued before Samantha could protest. "I convinced her to."

"How long?" My question was hardly even a whisper, and Samantha winced at the sharp sadness in my words.

"Since Hawaii," Samantha said.

"I can't believe it," I muttered. Louder, I said, "Why? Why, Louis?" I clenched my fists, trying to hold in my anger, but then when Samantha stepped forward to me, everything inside went loose.

I pushed her out of the way, and punched Louis. Tears streamed down my face, and my shouts just kept growing louder. "You left her once, Louis! Why couldn't you just stay away?" My continuous punches were strong, but Louis just stood there silently, accepting the punishment. And maybe that's what kept me angry, maybe I wanted Louis to fight back, just so I could have a challenge, but no. He just stood still, face frozen, eyes glazed over.

My anger had blinded me so much that I didn't realize that Samantha was tugging weakly at my arm until I heard her scream, "Niall, stop!"

And when I heard her normally gentle voice, I stopped. And when I heard her voice, I noticed the boys' and Miranda's horrified gazes locked onto Louis's bloody face And when I heard her voice, I saw that her eyes were staring deep into mine, emotions swarming her every feature. Apologetic, sadness, guilt, anger, and especially pain.

And when those gray eyes were holding me captive, I knew that she was in pain because she had been unable to stop me from beating up Louis. Unable to stop herself from kissing Louis. Unable to form the words to say sorry. And then when her gaze held mine, my fragment of light, my reason for living, disappeared. Because I was a monster.

I turned away from her, from him, from everything, from everyone. And then I started the walk of shame up the stairs with everyone's eyes boring into my back. And then the hole in my chest grew bigger, eating away at me, demolishing me. I was slowly crumbling from all the bad things that I did and it was too late to save me now. My fragment of light had vanished without a trace, so there was nothing to lead me in the darkness.

Notes

The last paragraph is really important. And I don't know who Samantha will end up with! I really feel bad for Niall. And don't forget about Miranda, she plays a big part in the end... at least that's what I think because I don't know the full ending yet.

Okay, I feel really bad that I didn't update for a long time. That's because school started and I have a ton of homework. I know school started a long time ago for you guys but I just started.
