Forever and Always

Always

Samantha's POV:

Right now, I was sulking in my room, angry because all the other boys refused to talk to us, and laying on my bed and glaring at the ceiling. And then I heard a knock.

"Who is it?" I asked loudly, slightly confused because why would someone talk to me now?

"Louis," he said, knocking again.

"Go away," I groaned, rolling on my stomach. I didn't want to see him, even though his approval for Niall was the one I was craving for most.

"Wait," he cried desperately, pounding on my door. "I have to let you know what happened two years ago." I was deciding whether or not to call for Niall now, because this situation was getting quite tricky, almost to the point where Louis would break the door and barge in.

"I don't care about the past," I said, even though I really did. I was curious on what happened and how I was connected with the boys. I could just picture the hurt on Louis' face outside the door.

Louis' retreating footsteps were cut short when he stopped. "Do you love him?" Louis asked harshly, all traces of care gone from his voice.

"Excuse me?" But Louis was right. Did I love Niall? To be honest, I think I forgot what love felt like. Was the thing between Niall and I love? Or just strong like?

"You heard me!" Louis shouted, and I was lucky that the rest of the boys were out shopping. "Do you love him?"

Even if I did have an answer for that, I wouldn't be able to tell him because I started feeling nauseous and dizzy. Black spots decorated my vision, and the pounding from the door became faster and more furious. I heard Louis call my name, but the sound was faint, like I was hearing him from a different world or something. And as the door fell to the ground and Louis hovered above me, I slumped to the ground and the world spun around and collapsed.

* Flashback *

Lou!" I laughed as I went on the swing. "Push me!"

"No problem," he grinned, and I flew higher and higher and higher. "Lou, I feel like I'm going to fall!" I looked down at the ground, my stomach churning.

"I'll catch you!" Louis raced in front of the swingset, arms open in a dramatic manner. He obviously didn't think I was going to fall. "Or I'll attempt to."

I was high in the sky, feeling as free as a bird in flight, but then my palms were sweaty so my hands slipped. I was actually going to fall.

"Louis!" I screamed as the ground came closer and closer. I squeezed my eyes shut, preparing for me to collide against the hardness, but I felt someone's arms wrap around me. We rolled for a few seconds until Louis landed on his back, me on top, my hair loose from the ponytail, strands falling across my face.

"You caught me," I breathed, and closed the gap between us.

"Or course I did," Louis smiled, tucking in some hair behind my ear, gasping for breath. "But I never said it was easy."

"Lou!" I complained, laying back down on the grass. He laid down with me, and pointed up. "See that cloud? What do you think it looks like?"

"Honestly?" I asked, and he nodded. "Well, it looks like a demented fish that got flushed down the toilet three million times."

"Sammie!" Louis cried, feigning shock.

"What?" I shrugged. "You asked for the truth, I gave you the truth."

"Well, I think it looks like a tree that got burned in a forest fire," Louis stated matter-of-factly. "And then one looks like a dead gorilla."

"No, it looks like a llama that got run over by a monster truck!" I claimed, placing my hands on my chest. We kept arguing over clouds what clouds looked like what when the question came out of nowhere.

"Do you think, ten years from now, we'll still be together?"

I shrugged again, turning to stare in his shining blue eyes. "Maybe, maybe not. You never know. You could die, I could die, we could get in a fight, all that stuff. The future is unpredictable."

Louis cracked a faint smile. "No matter what happens, ten years from now, you'll always be in my heart."

"Always?"

"Always."

And I believed it because that was young love.

* Flashback Over *

"Samantha?" Louis peered into my eyes. "Do you want to go to the doctors?"

I shook my head. And then it suddenly hit me. It all fit. How Louis was upset when Niall and I got together. How he cared for me. How the other boys were upset when Niall and I got together.

"Where we in a relationship?" I asked, standing up. He didn't answer. "Were we?" I demanded.

"Yes," he whispered, so soft that I could barely hear him.

"And did I forget about it?" I prepared myself for the answer, the cold feeling of dread creeping up in me.

"Yes."

It hit me. Hard. I felt so bad that I forgot about something important to him that I just fumbled with my words. "Well-I-you- Maybe it's for the better," I said finally, edging to the door. "Maybe it's better that I forgot because the relationship wasn't meant to be. I forgot it for a reason. Maybe because it meant nothing to me." And he looked so hurt at my words, especially at that last part. I glanced at him one more time and fled the room.
