If I Lay Here
Chapter Seven
Harry led me through a series of hallways before pushing through a door labeled ROOF. My heart was racing a million miles a minute. The stairs to the roof were short but steep. When we reached another set of doors Harry pulled out a card. He swiped it in a black slot causing the light above the door to turn green.
"Ladies first," Harry said before opening the door. He gave me a wide grin as I stepped past him.
"Why thank you kind sir," I replied while giving him a curtsy. When I stepped onto the roof my jaw dropped. A circular table was set up in the center decorated with flowers and a candle piece. Around the edges of the roof were lightly strung Christmas lights I recognized from when the hotel decorates for the holidays. Suddenly, Ed Sheerans music began playing from different corners. I turned to look at Harry who was fiddling with the iPod. This was amazing. Especially for a first date!
"Would you like to take a seat?" Harry asked, gesturing towards the table. I nodded, allowing him to pull out my chair before sitting down. Before Harry sat he poured two flukes of some fizzy drink. When I took a sip,the taste of apples and strawberries danced on my tongue.
"Mmm," I hummed at the taste. Harry smiled from across the table.
"Okay, so I made pasta Alfredo with a small chicken wrap if that's alright," He told me, reaching next to the table to pull out two covered plates.
"That sounds delicious. You made all of this?" I said while reaching for my warm plate. Harry nodded. When I pulled off the cover I was met with a fantastic creamy smell mixed with a crisp scent from the chicken. Harry and I spent the night talking about about his life on tour and my plans for the summer. I heard all about how Louis made Liam rip his pants on stage and how Niall tripped while running and yelling that he was a big fat idiot. Then, I told him I was going to try to get a part time job at a surf shop near the beach. All throughout the date we talked. It was nice not to have to deal with the awkward 'getting to know you' stage of the date. I already knew him. I already knew the real Harry. Once we finished our ice cream Harry led me back down the back stairwell.
"I just have to grab my keys and then I can drive you home," he said as we made a beeline for his floor. Harry slid the key in and when he opened the door the hotel room was completely dark. I looked up at Harry who was wearing the same confused expression I was. Suddenly, a light light flicked on in the corner on the desk. There sat Louis clad in a hotel bathrobe, twirling a fluke of red wine perhaps.
"Mr. Styles, you're out quite late," he said in a deep British accent. Louis pointed to the digital clock on the microwave that read 11:15.
"I'm just about to drive Miss. Striker home," Harry replied in an equally deep accent. He was quite enjoying himself and I must admit I was enjoying this little show too. Harry began looking around the counter for his keys but had no luck.
"Looking for these?!" Louis asked as he dangled a small set of keys between his pointer finger and thumb.
"Ah yes Mr. Tomlinson." Harry sighed in pretend relief. Louis tossed the keys into Harry's awaiting hands. However, Harry being a bit clumsy and Louis not having very good aim caused the keys to nearly hit me instead. Harry picked the keys off the ground while placing a hand on the small of my back.
"Drive safe son," Louis called as we headed out the door, "Don't go too fast and use protection...erm I mean seatbelts!"
