“Dad can I go to Madison Square Garden and check out the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge, oh and maybe go to the place where they have all those lights and screens on the buildings?”

“Al I don’t think you should be wondering around this city alone. Hey why don’t you take Matthew with you, he likes you.”

“Ugh dad I don’t like him he’s to stuck up and immature and he’s what almost 22. I will be turning 18 soon and I’m way more grownup than him. Plus he’s just going to be in my way.”

“Well girl it’s Matthew or nothing and by nothing I mean staying in your hotel room all day and night.” Opening his room closet he throws his suitcase in and closes the door “So what is it going to be?”

“Ugh where is Matthew?”

On the tenth floor I manage to make it to Matty’s room, 1013. Feet already hurting I realize, I should have took the elevator. Leaning over and hanging onto the wall to catch my breath I hear giggles coming from inside.

“What?” ear to the door I hear a girls voice and Matty on the bass “He’s busy maybe I should just let him relax. Let’s see.” I knock on the door very faintly even a mouse couldn’t hear “Yeah he’s busy.”

I turn and skip down the hallway this time taking the elevators. Almost noon I decide to have lunch at a random restaurant. I buy a newspaper at the stand by the sidewalk and take it in with me. Looking at the news was pretty depressing and very informational for my part. The Statue of Liberty was closed for 6 weeks for some reconstruction and the Brooklyn Bridge will be covered in traffic due to some repaving on the road. So this whole outing suck for me, I’m alone with noting fun to do. I decide to just walk around Central Park and check out China Town. My dad’s calls every hour with updates on the show and where my exact location is.

“Dad I’m okay just focus on your own stuff.” I turn off my phone and leave it in my pocket for the rest of the day. Which was a total mistake because soon after I got calls and text messages from Matthew, Gwen, and dad.

‘Your father is calling and texting me but I covered for you so now you owe me.’ Matthew seemed fine with it.

‘Girl guess who is coming to New York?? Me! See you in two days!’ Gwen is going to be here by my side very soon so yay!

‘Allison you best get back to the hotel now, it’s almost evening.’ Dad is in a very bad mood, he actually used my first name.

“Alright now I have to find the hotel. Hey Siri look up Hayden Hotel and Suites.” One long cab ride later I finally get to the hotel and it’s already past 8. Angus is going to have a fit. Before going in I take a deep breath and figure out my story for today. 60 seconds later I’m ready and I slide my key in when the door swings open and standing there is a very angry father.

“Hey daddy I was just getting my towel and suit. Wanna swim with me? It’s nice out and I think we could both use some air.” I pass him and go to my room.

“Allison I have been calling and everything why didn’t you pick up? I was getting very worried.” Following me to my room he stands there watching me pace around looking for my swimming suit.

“I turned off my phone because I went to the museum and I thought it would be rude to be answering calls and stuff. But I’m back now so don’t have a cow.”

“Sorry I just see you as my little girl still,” he hugs me and kisses my forehead “you know you are my world since you’re the only lady in my life.”

“Yeah about that when are you going to start dating again? I’m sure you that lady killer from the 80s’ is still there you just have to use it.”

“Well I’m going to the lounge downstairs before I start to get dating advice from my 17 year old.”

“Yeah but not for long, one more day to the big one eight!”
