Literal Amnesia

Chapter 1

Laney's POV

I woke up in a bright room. My mouth was so dry that I couldn’t talk. I seem to be in a hospital room, with no one in sight. Why in the world am I in a hospital room, and where are my parents? I’m a minor,I should be entering high school tomorrow or is that today? Great I’m already missing high school.

A nurse enters my room as she writes on a clipboard. I try to get her attention, but I can’t talk. She finally looks up to me and when she does she appears surprised. She runs out of the room.

What’s going on? Was I in a car crash and my face was disfigured? Was I not supposed to live? Am I going to be the subject of those Lifetime movies?

A doctor walks in with a nurse behind them.

“Laney, you’re awake.” Nah,really? At least you have an accent. Accents are great.

“Can you hold up two fingers?”He asked. I looked down at my hand barely managing to do so.

“Very good!" He brought out a stethoscope and listened to my heart, as well as check my eyes. He tried to get me to talk but it was to hard for me to open my mouth.

“Okay how about we try something else. Blink once for yes and twice for no okay?”I blinked once.

“Very good Laney. Do you know where you are?”I blinked once, I am obviously in a hospital of some sort. Or should I have blinked twice? I don't even know what hospital I am in. “Do you know why you’re here?”I blinked twice.

“You were in a car accident, Laney.” Car accident? Was it only me in the car? Of course it wasn't I can't even drive. Are my parents okay?

“I know it is very hard news to digest. All your questions will be answered in time. We’re going to run some tests on you and call your family.”

Why isn’t my family already here? What the heck is going on?
