Chapter 25

Chapter twenty-five

When I awoke, I was sprawled across Harry’s chest, feeling more secure than I had in the last couple hours. I looked up at his face and any traces of anger or ambiguity were gone. I reached myself up to kiss his unsuspecting lips and felt him smile beneath my touch and his arms automatically tighten in response.

“Good morning,” he breathed, kissing my hair.

“Hi,” I smiled, pleased to be back to normal. He gave a carefree laugh.

“Ready for today?” he asked me, and a wave of excitement and nerves rippled through my stomach. The premiere was today, we’d be getting ready in only a few hours; months of planning were boiling down to moments of anticipation.

“I’m so excited! I can’t wait to see the final cut, I’m sure it’s going to be amazing!” I told him excitedly.

“I wish you were in it more,” he said, his thumb brushing away an eyelash from my cheek. I rolled my eyes at him.

“Well I don’t, people aren’t lining up tonight for me, silly,” I retorted giving him a sly wink.

“Well, they should be,” he said with a cheeky smile, pulling me in slightly closer. He let out a sigh, and I looked at him questioningly.

“What is it?” I asked. He smiled, and shook his head.

“I’m just really sorry, you know that right?”

“Harry, please, let’s not talk about this. Last night is completely forgotten.” I told him, kissing his lips to silence them. He smiled again, and I playfully bit down on his lower lip.

“I love you,” he said breathlessly.

“As I love you,” I responded before going in for a deeper kiss.

--

We eventually made it out of bed after making up – repeatedly, if you know what I mean. I then settled for a shower, climbing into the frosted glass encasement and running the water extremely hot. Steam filled the small room and seeped into my pours, refreshing and revitalizing me for the day ahead. I was nervous about all the cameras, interviewers and fans that were sure to be there. I’d been to the Fragrance Premiere but this was sure to be far larger and far more daunting than that. It was nerve racking, but also invigorating as I was so proud of Harry and the other lads.

I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around me, stepping into the cool air of the bedroom. Harry was sitting on the bed, comparing ties.

“Which one, love?” he asked me. I studied the three he presented: a bow tie, a skinny black and
a wider black.

“Neither,” I said with resolve. Harry plopped them down on the bed next to him dramatically.

“Sarah,” he complained. “I need a real answer!”

“I gave you one! I think you should wear that sexy black and white heart shirt from last night without a tie.” I told him, picking it out from the closet and modelling it for him. He smiled before pulling me into his lap and kissing me.

“Alright,” he said, kissing me again before releasing me. “You win. Now, what are we dressing you in?” he asked playfully. I smirked and made my way to the closet again, retrieving the bag with my dress nestled inside.

“This maybe?” I said as I pulled the zipper down, soft strands of steel coloured fabric billowing out like a woven sky.

“You know, I really have to see it on to tell...” Harry said, mischievously stroking his chin.

“Oh, well in that case,” I said as I placed the bag on the bed and let my towel fall to my feet, watching as Harry’s eyes popped open wide. I loved that even after all this time, his reaction to my naked body was still the same; shocked and satisfied.

“On second, thought,” he said, standing and coming over to me, placing his hands on my hip bones. “We could always just...” he trailed off, kissing my neck. I almost gave in and pushed him down on the bed for a second round of glorious make-up sex but reason came crashing down on me.

“Harry, we really shouldn’t, I just got the smell of you off me,” I said, wiggling out of his embrace.

“We can always shower again,” he looked at me, his eyes lighting up and causing me to laugh.

“We don’t have time, babe, we have to get ready. I don’t know if you noticed, but tonight is kinda a big deal,” I teased him.

Harry sighed loudly, leaning into the crook of my neck.

“Fiiine,” he said huffily. “But I get to help you dress, don’t I?”

“Of course, who else will do my zipper?” I laughed in response.

--

Hours later, and we were ready. My make-up was done, elegant but simple, my hair finished thanks to the fantastic Lou Teasdale, and my dress was on and fitting extremely well. Harry looked dashing, his hair slicked back and wearing the shirt I’d suggested earlier. We looked at each other and nodded appreciatively.

“You clean up nice,” I winked.

“Well I have to if I’m going to be standing next to you all night!” He said, his arms encircling me. I rolled my eyes and kissed him quickly.

“Come on, we better go. I told Dani that we’d meet in their room to wait for the car.”

“Alright, alright, but we need a quick photo for the fans,” he said, pulling me back and pulling out his phone.

“Ugh, fine,” I conceded.

“Smile, Sarah,” he said. He snapped the photo and posted it before giving one of his well known and well loved “Harry” smiles. I smiled at him and rolled my eyes.

“Now come on, we’ve got to get going!”

We hurried down the hall to Dani and Liam’s room where sure enough everyone was already gathered.

“Hey! Look who decided to finally show up!” Louis shouted at us as we entered. He pulled me into a tight hug, shooting me a quick look and a wink before pulling away. I smiled at him knowingly and he nodded, seemingly unsurprised.

“When’s the car getting here?” Harry asked and sure enough, Dani answered.

“Fifteen minutes, Paul’s gonna come and get us when they arrive.”

“Apparently there’s a lot of girls down there tonight,” Niall piped in.
I nodded.

“That was to be expected,” I laughed.

“Yup, they all just want a piece of you lads,” Perrie teased, hugging Zayn.

“Well I’m not sharing,” El laughed and Louis kissed her.

Just then, Paul came through the door.

“Alright, we’ve got to move. NOW!” He yelled, hustling us all out of the room in record time. He didn’t stop hurrying us until we were down the elevator, out the back door and packed into the car. I was basically sitting on Harry’s lap, but I could tell he didn’t mind. Paul climbed into the front seat and began ordering the driver. “Go, go, go, GO! We’ve got to go now before they all converge!” I firmly believed that Paul lived a very stressful life, and it was poignantly evident tonight. We managed to get out relatively undiscovered however, and traffic was kind, allowing us to get there right on time. The car pulled right up to the edge of the red carpet and men in black opened the doors for us. Niall climbed out first and the assembled crowd went crazy as he began running around and waving at them all. Liam and Dani got out next with much less fanfare, but were met with an equal amount of excitement. Lou and El climbed out after them, leaving Harry and I till last.

“Shall we?” he asked, offering me his hand which I readily accepted.

“I think we shall,” I smiled as he helped me from the car. The crowd of screaming girls went wild as Harry and I came into view, calling out to us for pictures and autographs. I still couldn’t believe that people would want my picture, I wasn’t anything special, I was just dating a very special person! And yet, all the same, I approached them and did as I was asked.

I approached a reporter that was calling for me, Dani, Perrie, and El. They were all standing with him, ushering me over. I walked over and was met with a friendly smile.

“Good to see you again, Miss. Wilson, you probably won’t remember but we met at the Fragrance launch,” he said familiarly.

“Oh, of course,” I smiled back, although he was completely right and I had no idea who he was.

“Well, ladies, may we begin?” he asked us.

“By all means,” Dani replied. He began motioning to the cameraman, signaling at him to start rolling.

“Hello, I am Ted Ryan, and today I am here at the L.A premiere of “This Is Us”, and I’m with none other than the lovely ladies behind the sensational five. Please welcome, Perrie Edwards of Little Mix and fiancée of Zayn Malik, isn’t that right?” The camera flew to Perrie’s face.

“It is,” she smiled, flashing her ring into the camera causing us all to laugh.

“And we have world class dancer Danielle Peazer here with her boyfriend, Liam Payne, how are you?”

“Great thanks,” Dani said simply.

“And Eleanor Calder, lovely to see you as always,” the reporter said.

“Lovely to see you,” she smiled back daintily.

“And last but certainly not least, we have the newest edition to the gang, Sarah Wilson. How’re things with you and Harry?” he asked, pointing the microphone in my face.

“Very well,” I said, careful to not give too much away. I didn’t really like people knowing about our private life, after all, it was supposed to be private.

“Excellent to hear,” he smiled at me. “And may I just say that you all look fabulous tonight, truly!” We smiled as the camera zoomed out to show our full outfits. Eleanor in her long, flowy, off-pink gown,

“Tell me,” he said, starting up with questions again. “Have you seen the film?”

“Perrie and I have seen bits and pieces, but not the whole thing,” Dani said, looking for Perrie agreement.

“Well the whole thing is going to be new to me, I haven’t had time to go to any of the showings,”

I laughed and El joined in.

“I know, neither have I, I’m quite excited!” She chimed in.

“Yes, that seems to be the common feeling around here,” the interviewer laughed as the camera panned to all of the screaming girls around us. “Well, I won’t keep you any longer, thank you for speaking with us again, ladies, you’ve been a pleasure as usual, and I look forward to catching up with you after the showing!”

“Thank you,” we all said, waving as we walked away.

I saw Harry hovering behind us and walked over to him as he folded me in his arms. The girls all screamed as he kissed me, thousands of cameras and flashes going off as he did so.

“Careful, you’re going to give those girls a heart attack,” I teased him.

“They’ll live,” he smiled as he bent down to press his lips to mine again.

--

After a while, it was time to go inside and see the movie. It was excellent, really capturing the boy’s personality while still being mildly vague about their true selves so as not to feel too violated. I was so proud of all of them, and seeing them and their parents had me crying on more than one occasion. It also got me thinking about life on tour, something that was going to be starting tomorrow. Living on buses, travelling almost every day, the meet and greets. It all seemed exhausting, and yet they made it look so easy. Sitting there watching the movie, I rested my head on Harry’s chest as he talked on screen to Liam, who was hopelessly trying to fish. I loved seeing him like that, laying there on the pier, just chatting with his mate about life. It seemed silly, but it actually made me tear up.

“What’s wrong, love?” Harry asked me sounding rather concerned. I looked around and no one else was crying. That just meant that no one here knew him as I did.

“You just look so happy, it’s nice to see you like that,” I said, looking up into his green eyes.

He bent down and kissed my forehead.

“I love you,” he told me.

“I love you, too,” I whispered quietly, snuggling ever so much closer into his side.

--

The movie was needless to say, a huge success! Everyone was expressing their admiration as we exited the theatre. The boy’s parents were all there and I watched as Liam was enveloped into a hug by his mother. Just behind them, I saw Anne approaching.

“Anne! Over here!” I called over and her head snapped up in response to my voice, searching the overwhelming crowd until she found me.

“Sarah,” she squealed, drawing me into a tight hug. “Wasn’t it just fantastic? I did okay right?”

I laughed at her worried expression.

“I thought you were particularly excellent,” I winked at her and she laughed, acting amused but
secretly deeply pleased with herself.

“Oh, my baby,” she breathed, throwing her arms around Harry. “I’m so, so, so proud of you!”

“Thanks, mum,” Harry smiled, hugging her back.

“I can’t believe the amount of people here tonight! I’ll have to call Gemma, she won’t believe it!” Anne continued to gush.

Harry rolled his eyes affectionately at her.

“Well, go on then, chat her up,” he winked.

“Oh, I will! Oh,” she pulled him into another bone breaking hug, unwilling to let him go. “It’s going to be such a long time before you’re home again,” she said, wiping away an errant tear.

“But I’ll come back, I always do,” Harry said quietly.

Anne stood up a little straighter and smiled at Harry, reaching up and stroking his cheek.

“I know,” she smiled. What she didn’t say was that it would be hard on her all the same.

“What time does your plane leave?” he asked her.

“7:40, another early morning,” she laughed.

“I think you’re on the same one as Perrie, Dani and El,” Harry said, my head snapping up in response.

“Dani and El? They’re not leaving tomorrow, only Perrie is...” I said, half stating half questioning.

“No, Louis told me last night. Dani is acting as a replacement in a music video shoot and El’s grandma broken her hip so she’s flying out to help her for a couple weeks.” Harry told me.

“Awe,” I didn’t even try to hide my disappointment. “Well, I guess I’m just left with you lads.”

Anne laughed.

“Well, that’s something I’m not envious of!” Anne laughed, wrapping her arm around me.

“Hey, mum!” Harry said, acting insulted.

“I’m sorry sweetie, but it’s true,” she said laughing even harder. “By the way Mr. I hope you’ve told this fantastic creature just how gorgeous she looks tonight,” Anne said, winking at me.

“Nowhere near enough I’m afraid.” He wrapped me in his arms and I threw mine about his waist.

“Well get on that! Oh, is that Perrie and Zayn? I simply must congratulate them on their engagement! I’ll try and catch up with you kids later,” Anne said as she rushed off to catch Zayn and Perrie.

I laughed.

“God, I forget how much I miss that woman,” I sighed.

“You and me both,” Harry agreed. “But I have to say, I’m glad you’re coming on tour, even if it is such an inconvenience for you,” he teased me.

I punched him in the arm before hugging him even tighter.

“Oh shut up,” I said, reaching up and kissing him as we stood outside at the edge of the red carpet, waiting for the car.
