The Night I Met Harry

The Morning After.

A woke in a cold sweat, quickly opening my eyes and jolting up in what wasn't my bedroom.

"About time."

I heard a familiar voice across the room. I looked quickly. Julie was coming toward me with a small white pill and a glass of water.

"You've been asleep for most of the day Winter, you were beginning to make me worry."

She was speaking a little too loudly for my taste.

"Julie, I'm alright. Please lower your voice."

I said bitterly. She looked down in the area of my neck and grinned slightly.

"Good, since you're alright. You mind telling me what went on last night."

A wave of him washed over me. Distant memories. The feeling of his curls against my skin while placing soft kisses on my upper body. His hands firmly planted around my waist, hungrily. Had this happened? It seemed a world away now that I'd awaken in this life. The one where he didn't exist. Harry. That was his name... She cleared her throat loudly interrupting my thoughts.

"Winter..."

She started understandingly.

"Who was the hot guy you were with last night?"

She said, waiting impatiently for my answer. How much had she saw? Was this a test of some sort?

"Uhh, his name is Harry. He was the bartender at the club."

I said looking down at my hands. His kisses still lingered there.

"Wait, how did I get here? Where is he?"

Questions began to cloud my mind, unsure if I wanted their answers. She began quickly.

"Well. Winter, You found us by the bar after hours of us not knowing where you were. With him. Harry is it?"

She interrogated.

"Yea."

I blinked up at her as she hovered over the side of the bed. It was quiet for a long moment before she continued.

"Winter, you were obviously a bit gone from the alcohol. We decided to take you and leave. I thought the relationship between you two had been totally innocent, knowing you. Until..."

She took a breath.

"Until he kissed you goodbye."

She finished quickly. I stayed quiet. I hadn't even remembered finding them, or anything at all after it happened. I let her assume the worst. Because I didn't exactly know how to tell her. She was best friend and I told her everything but I didn't understand it myself.

"And I mean really kissed you. What about Scott? He's been calling all day to see about you. I told him you had a bit much to drink. He'd offered to come and get you but I told him I'd bring you by later, that you had fallen asleep. I thought you'd need time to gather your thoughts before you saw him."

She had been talking but I couldn't hold on to her voice anymore. Scott. A shower of guilt poured over me. I hadn't thought of him once since meeting Harry. Since he'd kissed me. How could I be so stupid. Scott was my everything. I loved him more than anything. Confusion flooded soon after. The thought of never seeing Harry again made my heart sore. I could never do that again. It was wrong I wasn't thinking clearly. The drink seemed strong, but it was my decision. All of it. It was my fault. This would crush Scott. He'd never trust me again. But I would tell him, I had to. I reached for my phone I saw laying on the charger on the bedside table. She watched my every move attentively. Twenty missed calls, displayed across the screen as I brought it to life with my fingertips. All from Scott. I flicked through the log, as I pieced together the conversation I'd soon have with him.

"Wait, what?"

I flipped back to confirm whether or not I was seeing things. I read it aloud to make real what I still couldn't believe.

"Harry."
