~2.23~

“Hey, Emelia.” Jeffery, someone who was in a few of my classes, said to me as he approached me after the slow dance was over and the fathers returned to the walls.

“Hey,” I responded, a little confused, “What are you doing here?”

“I’m helping Josh DJ.” Jeffery responded. “But he gave me a little break. Wanna go talk in the courtyard for a minute?”

I agreed. I was, however, taken aback by that request.

Once we were in the courtyard right outside the gym, he started asking me some vague questions about school and stuff. I reciprocated the same questions.

After a few minutes of this, Jeffery leaned in towards me for a kiss, and his face was only inches form mine when I backed up.

He retreated, looking defeated.

“Look,” I said embarrassed to have to say what I was about to say, “You know I’m a trans girl, right?”

“I know.” Jeffery said. He paused for a moment. “Is that okay?”

I nodded, and he leaned in again. This time, I let our lips touch. It was…nice.

“I need to get back.” Jeffery said to me.

“Okay.” I said, feeling like I had just been knocked off my feet. But I was still standing.

This was confusing. I always thought I was asexual. While the thought of having sex was still off putting, that kiss wasn’t. It was kind of nice. I kind of wanted to do it again. So…we’ll see what happens.

Funny enough, the next song that was played was an old song by Greenday called "Still Breathing." It seemed perfect in my situation.

As I approached the glass doors to get back into the gym, I saw that Dad was there, and that he witnessed the whole thing.

Awkward.

“Hey Dad.” I said awkwardly, trying to be nonchalant.

“I’ll kill him.” Dad said half-sarcastically, like a father protecting his daughter.
