Prodigal

If you want to hear me banter for a bit, keep reading :P

I wrote this story to be an allusion; the entire story is an allusion to the parable in the bible, The Prodigal Son.

The purpose was to have Luke have a son, and for them to have what happened to the prodigal son story happen to them.

To do this, I had to give exposition, so that's why you got back story. I also had to induce events to cause the prodigal son story to happen, that's why the whole break in story and sexuality struggles happened. It was then I was able to make Emmett the prodigal son.

I gave further exposition with the conversation with Jack, back story to before Emmett was born, and revelation that Jack was the intruder for two reasons:

1.) Just like the prodigal son, Emmett came home worried that his father wouldn't welcome him back. He felt ashamed for doing what he did, and this shame was enhanced by the realization of his father's love for him. But this also enhanced the resolution when Luke accepted and loved his son, because Luke is consistently portrayed as a loving father.

2.) It gave some sort of explanation and a somewhat satisfying and closured ending.

I was extremely concerned for this story because I felt that it would not be well received. But the response was overwhelmingly positive and I thank you all so much for the kind words and for reading!

This was the first story I wrote on this site where I wrote form the point of view of a young teen and I think that this age represents the majority of my readers, and I'm glad that I was able to be more relative to you in this story!

So, there's something that I've read in the comments, and I'm going to address it.
