Pretty Girls Hide Pain So Deep Inside

- Should we go? - Blue asked.

The two bands were once again sitting on the stage in a circle, playing a game that they still don't have a name for.

- It's not even midnight. - Michael said. - Let's play a few more rounds and then we'll go.

Everyone agreed.

- Ash, you're spinning. - Calum told him.

- Wow, you do not have any luck at all. - Romeo said after the bottle stopped spinning and pointed at Jesse.

Just like the night before, this wasn't the first time the bottle stopped at him, and just like the night before, Jesse was already drunk, maybe even more than he was then.

- What's it gonna be? - Luke asked the unfortunate guy.

Jesse didn't respond, his eyes were still fixed on the bottle.

- Jesse? - Hope called out to him, snapping him out of his thoughts.

- I...I'll confess. - Jesse responded, stuttering.

Everyone continued to look at him in silence.

- Um... - Jesse's eyes still haven't left the floor. - My song ''Pain Never Felt So Good'' is about Charlie.

The guys all looked at him confused, but Hope knew very well who he was talking about. His eyes finally met hers, tears in both of their eyes.

- Charlie? As in Hope's... - Calum started to speak, but then he noticed his fiancee's eyes.

Even tough Calum stopped speaking, he said enough to help everyone connect the dots. All eyes were on Hope and Jesse now.

- Why didn't you tell me? - Hope asked him, tears still in her eyes, but no emotion recognizable in her voice.

- I...I couldn't... I didn't want you to hurt even more. - Regret and sadness were in Jesse's voice.

- I'm mean when she was... Still here. Why didn't you tell me then? - Hope asked him again.

- We're gonna go and leave you guys to talk. - Ashton told them.

- Baby, are you okay? - Calum whispered to Hope.

She just nodded.

- If you need me, I'll just be backstage. - Calum said before leaving a soft kiss on his lover's cheek and leaving.

- I'm sorry Hope, I didn't... - Hope cut him off.

- Did you love her? - Her voice now quieter and softer.

- You heard the song, didn't you?

- So what happened? I mean, why did you end it? - She asked him.

- We didn't really end it... It's just... After she got better she would still come visit me. We wanted to tell you, but Charlie was worried, so we kept it a secret... But then I got out of the hospital and seeing each other became more difficult and then everything with you and Orion happened and things just got too complicated, so we decided to... - Tears started escaping Jesse's eyes. - Put things on hold unitl the timing was right.

Jesse just now noticed that Hope moved and was now sitting next to him.

- I'm sorry. - Hope whispered, a single tear escaping her dark green eyes.

- For what?

- If I didn't make such a big deal out of everything with Orion, then maybe...things would've worked out differently and she would still... - Jesse cut her off.

- Stop. - He said firmly. - None of this was your fault, so stop blaiming yourself.

- But...

- Don't do that to yourself Hope. - He cupped her face in his hands and made her meet his gaze. - That was not your fault. Everything happens for a reason, even the bad things... Look at it this way, if all of that hadn't happened you wouldn't've met Calum and we wouldn't currently be on tour living our dreams... And Charile and I...I guess we just weren't meant to be.

Jesse wiped away the tears from Hope's cheek with his thumb and released her face. Hope smiled weakly at him before leaning her head on his shoulder. Knowing that he, and the rest of the guys, were so honest and true with her only made it harder to keep her and Calum's secret... But she had to, unless she wanted them to hate her, she had to.

- Was she happy? - Hope quietly asked him.

- Yeah, I think she was. - Jesse said, both of them smiling slightly at his words.

I originally wanted to put this in ''Pretty Girls Lie'', but now I'm glad I didn't, because I think it fits in much better in this one.
