Pretty Girls Hide Pain So Deep Inside

Chapter 20

It's been five days since Luke joined Hope in Tokyo. For those five days none of the guys had called Luke, not even once. If either of them had an idea as to why that is they were keeping it to themselves. They tried not to talk much about Calum or the other guys, if was just easier that way.

Halfway across the globe, Calum, Ashton and as of recently, Blue and Romeo, were in Sydney, still clueless about Hope's whereabouts. Same goes for the rest of the guys as well. To them, Hope was a ghost. A feeling of déjà vu had indulged itself onto all of them.

Hope and Luke were sitting on the bed having breakfast. Hope was wearing nothing but her black Calvin Klein underwear. Same goes for Luke.

Luke kept telling cheesy jokes, he made it his mission to make her smile. He succeded.

- That was terrible. - Hope said trough laughter.

- Well, it made you smile, didn't it? - Luke smiled.

Hope leaned in closer to him and left a soft kiss on his lips.

- Thank you. - She said quietly.

- It was my pleasure. - Luke said, brushing his lips against hers.

He pressed his lips against hers.

Not long after, Luke had Hope pinned down on the bed while he was leaving a trail of kisses from her lips down to her collarbone.

Luke's cell phone started ringing.

They tried to ignore it, saying it would stop soon, but it didn't. It kept ringing.

- You should get that. - Hope said.

- Yeah, you're right. - Luke breathed out.

He left another soft kiss on her lips before reaching for his phone and answering.

- Hello?

He could hear someone arguing on the other end of the line.

- Hey. It's Ashton. - After a few seconds, Ashton answered.

Luke put the phone on speaker so Hope could hear.

- Hey, what's up? - Luke tried to sound as casual as possible.

- Nothing much. Do you have anything on Hope? - Ashton asked.

Luke looked at Hope. She was biting her bottom lip.

- Um, no, nothing. - Luke said.

- Yeah, us neither. - Ashton said. - I have no idea how Cal managed to find her the last time.

Once again, Luke looked at Hope. She was avoiding his gaze.

- Yeah, me either. - He said. - Um, how is he?

Ashton took a deep breath.

- Bad. - He said honestly. - I-I have no idea what to do.

A single tear rolled down Hope's cheek. She quickly wiped it.

- Yeah, I know how you feel. - Luke was biting his lip nerviously.

- I just... I know this may be the last thing any of us would like to hear, but, um... Maybe...maybe she doesn't want to come back this time.

Luke didn't know what to say.

Hope got off the bed and hurriedly left the room.

- Hey, um, can I...can I call you back? Someone's knocking on my door. - Luke said.

- Yeah, alright. - Ashton said.

- Alright, talk to you later. - Luke hung up.

Luke left the bedroom.

- Hope? - He called out to her.

She was sitting on the floor, in front of one of the floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the city. She tried to wipe them, but there were still a few dried tears on her cheeks.

- Hey. - Luke quietly said.

He took a seat next to her.

They both started to speak at the same time, neither one of them understanding the other one's words.

- Um, you go. - Luke quietly said.

- We have to go back. - She said, still looking out the window.

Luke was silent for a few seconds.

- Okay. - He said quietly.

He pinned his bottom lip with his teeth.

- Do you...do you still love him? - Luke asked her, his expresion pained and his voice fragile.

Hope opened her mouth to speak, but then stopped.

It was almost a minute later when Hope finally spoke again.

- Yes. - She said shortly.

Luke's eyes were filled with tears, but he wasn't letting them escape.

- And where... - He cleared his voice, hoping to sound less broken. - Where exactly do I fit in that picture?

She finally looked at him.

- Luke, I...I meant every word I said to you...I still do. I love you. - Unlike Luke, Hope knew how to hide her brokenness.

- Yeah, but you just love him more... Right? - His voice was on the verge of breaking.

- No. I...I don't know. - Her voice was fading as she spoke.

Luke got up and started walking away.

- Luke...

- I'll book us a flight. - Luke said and went back into the master bedroom, slamming the door shut behind him.

Hope pressed her knees against her chest. She finally let out the tears she's been holding back. Her hands were in her hair and she was silently letting her emotions run wild.

''5 Seconds of Summer and Midnight Sinning Session are still nowhere to be seen after the tour's cancellation. They have yet to share why the tour was cancelled or what exactly happened to Hope Lucas Irwin at the last show.''
