Pretty Girls Hide Pain So Deep Inside

Back in Hope's room everyone has gathered around her bed, comforting her, but Hope still hasn't said a word. Funnily enough, everyone thought that she was quiet and distant because she just lost a baby, but that wasn't it. Hope would never admit this, but a part of her was glad she suffered a miscarriage. What pained her the most was that she became just like her mother, something she promised herself she would never let happen. Don't get me wrong, Hope loved her mom and she always admired her strenght, but Charlie had to give up her life, her dreams, because of Hope and she promised herself that that's not going to be her. But there she was, in a hospital bed, having just lost a baby, and she hasn't even turned 20.

The door opened and everyone turned to look who it is, everyone but Hope.

Romeo walked in.

- Hey. - He said softly as he approached Hope's bed.

Hope tried to return his kind smile, but she failed. She was too tired. For everything. Of everything.

- You're gonna get trough this, it's gonna be okay, I promise you. - He whispered to her before leaving a soft kiss on her temple and another one at the top of her head, her messy curls tickling his nose.

- Where's... - Romeo cut Ashton off.

- Ash, I need to talk to you. Now. - Romeo said and left the room, Ashton following behind him.

- What's going on? Where's Calum? - Ashton asked once they were outside.

- He's gone. He said he needed a drink and he just stormed off, I couldn't stop him.

- What? - Ashton raised his voice. - What the hell is wrong with him? Hope's...

- Stop. Before you say anything else you need to know something. - The look on Cody's face had Ashton worried.

Romeo inhaled and exhaled deeply before speaking.

- That wasn't his baby. Cal's infertile.

- You're joking, right? Please tell me you're joking. - Getting no response was all the response he needed. - I don't believe this.

- Yeah...

- Does, um... Does he know who's it was? - Ashton's voice was shaking.

- No.

- I can't believe Hope would... - He couldn't finish. - Five weeks... We... We've been on tour for almost six weeks. Do you... Could it be one of the guys?

- Honestly, I have no idea. I still can't believe this.

- Well, what do we do? We need to talk to her.

- And say what, hey Hope we know you had sex with someone other than Calum, who is by the way infertile, and that he's the one that got you pregnant, mind telling us who it is? - Romeo was speaking, loudly.

- Yeah, I do mind. - Standing behind the two of them was Hope, everyone else not far behind.

- Shit.

- Hope, I...we...

Her eyes were filled with tears, but she wasn't letting them escape.

Ashton was the first one to break the awkward silence that had fallen before them.

- How could you do it? - Ashton spoke. - I'm sorry, you're my sister and I love you, but Cal's my best friend... How could you do that to him? For fuck's sake you two are engaged.

For a few seconds Hope just stood there, not saying a word.

She turned around and walked back into the room. She took off the paper gown that the doctors had put on her, exposing her birthday suit to everyone present, but she didn't care. With her back remaining turned to everyone she put on her regular clothes. Not caring about the pain that struck everytime she moved, Hope stormed out of the hospital, brushing off everyone who tried to stop her.
