Pretty Girls Lie

Chapter 18

The guy was tall and slim. He didn't seem more than 20 years old. He had on a backpack. His dirty blonde hair was secured under a snapback, turned backwards. His gloomy green eyes couldn't stop looking at Hope. The guy was good looking, there was no doubt there, but the most noticable thing on him weren't his sparkling eyes, his full lips or his perfectly structured jawline, it was his scar. The dark pink scar trailed a jagged line from the corner of his right eye to the corner of his mouth.

- Hi. - The guy said after a few seconds of him and Hope staring at each other intensely.

She didn't say a thing.

- Can I help you? - Luke stood next to Hope.

The guy snapped out of his daze and looked at Luke. - I'm looking for my brother, Jesse.

- Orion? - Luke questioned.

- Yeah. - He quickly answered and returned his gaze to Hope.

Hope meet his gaze for a brief second, but she quickly turned around and walked away.

- Come on in. - Luke seemed a bit hesitant at first.

Orion came inside, and Luke and him followed Hope to the music room. Hope's face clearly stated she was pissed off.

- What's wrong? - Calum asked once he noticed his girlfriend come back.

- You'll see. - It was all she said.

- We have a guest. - Luke walked in, Orion right behind him. - This is Orion.

Everyone put the pieces together.

- You're done already? - Jesse asked his younger brother.

- Yeah, my class was cancelled. - Orion said, glancing at Hope every now and then.

- I'm sorry about this, but I was suposed to give him a ride home...he doesn't drive. - Jesse told the guys.

The atmosphere was even more awkward now then it was a minute ago.

Hope snickered at Jesse's last words. - Since when?

- Since last year. - Orion told her.

Hope snickered again, turning her gaze away from him.

- We should go. - Jesse said and approached Orion.

- You shouldn't. - Hope said, looking at Jesse and emphasizing the first word.

- Look Hope, I get why you're upset, but come on...it's been a year. - Orion told her, his eyes pleading.

- Exactly... It's been a year. - Hope said, she was still pissed off.

- I'm sorry. - Orion said, after a few seconds, he meant what he said.

- Sorry doesn't mean shit, especially now. - She said.

- We're going...now. - Jesse told his brother.

- Hold on... - Ashton said. - I don't know what happened between you two, but whatever it is you need to solve it.

- You wanna know what happened? - Hope asked, her voice raised.

Calum stood beside her and held her hand. Not waiting for any of the guys to answer her, she continued.

- We...he was driving, we got into an argument over the supidest shit, he wasn't paying attention to the road and he ran a red light... We crashed into a truck, he got that scar on his face, while I had a broken leg and a broken arm, four fractured ribs and internal bleeding..and I went into a coma. And when I woke up, three days later, he was gone. He left, without a word, he left me by myself in the hospital...and I haven't seen him since. - Hope was almost yelling, her eyes glistening from the tears threatening to escape, while holding Calum's hand tightly.

Hope looked down, not wanting anyone to notice the tears filling her eyes. Calum squeezed her hand. She let go of his hand and headed for the door.

- Wait, Hope. - Orion called out after her.

She stopped.

- What? - Her vioce was quiet.

Her back was turned to them.

- You wanna know why I left? - He asked her softly, his voice almost breaking.

- Why? - She asked after a few seconds, still not turning around to look at him.

Orion waited a few seconds before answering her.

- You almost died that day and...it was my fault... I just couldn't look at you because everytime I did, I remembered that I almost killed you. - Tears were filling Orion's eyes, while everyone else was quietly listening to them. - I was a coward, I couldn't handle it...so I left... And I've regreted it everyday for the past year.

- Yeah, well, I'm sorry that was hard for you. - Hope said sarcastically and left the room, not closing the door behind her.

Calum and Ashton looked at each other.

- I'll go. - Calum said quietly and left after Hope.

- You should've called. - Jesse told Orion.

He just looked at him, tears still in his eyes.

- Hey. - Calum approached Hope.

She was sitting poolside, her Vans next to her and her feet in the water.

- Hey. - He sat down next to her.

- You alright? - He was worried.

- Yeah. I just... - She breathed out. - This must be fucked up to you, right?

- A little... - He chuckled slighty. - But I understand...don't worry about me.

She half smiled.

- How long were you two together? - Calum asked her quietly.

- It was two years that night. - She told him.

- So, what did you argue about?

Hope chuckled a little before answering.

- We saved some money and we were gonna go on a trip together, so we were agruing about the destination. - She said. - He wanted to go to Paris and I thought that was very cliche and wanted to go to Venice.

Calum chuckled at her answer.

- Venice is nice. - He said.

- I wouldn't know.

- Well, we could go. - He told her.

She smiled at him and leaned her head on his shoulder.

- You were 17 then, right? - Calum asked her, his hand reaching up to brush her hair.

- Yeah, why? - She asked quietly.

- Did your mom know about Orion?

- Yeah, he visited Jesse all the time...and my mom and Jesse were in the same room. - Hope said. - She liked him...

- You think she would like me and approve you being with me? - Calum's sweet voice asked her.

Hope looked up at him and smiled slightly.

- That's a tough question... Would my mom approve of me being with a funny, caring, sweet, inteligent, talented guy who also happens to be extremly good looking? - Hope chuckled in between her lovely words.

Calum looked down, his cheeks bright red. Hope kissed his cheek. He turned to look at you.

- Aren't you exaggerating just a little bit? - He asked her.

- I'm not. - She reasured him. - Those words I said aren't even close to describing how amazing you are and...how much you mean to me.

She bit her bottom lip. Calum smiled widely at her words. He put a few of her stray locks behind her ear.

- You know, you mean to me much more then some people I've known a lot longer then I have you. - He said, whispered almost.

She smiled slightly and looked down. He put his hand on her rosy cheek. Their lips crashed agains each other. He was kissing her gently, softly, like he was afraid she was going to break, as if she was made out of porcelain.

- I lo... - Hope cut Calum off.

- Can we not talk? - Hope breathed out, her lips longing for his.
