Pretty Girls Lie

Chapter 17

Stephen was the first one to show up. The six of them were sitting out on the balcony, enjoying the typical sunny day in Australia. Hope was sitting in between King and Calum, Calum's hand over her shoulder. They were talking about going on tours and fans and the rockstar lifestyle in general.

- I miss the bad things, the way you hate me, I miss the screaming, the way that you blame me. - King was singing under his breath.

- Miss the phone calls, when it's your fault, I miss the late nights, don't miss you at all. - Hope quetly joined him.

- You know ''Halestorm''? - King asked her.

- Of course. - She said.

- I've had that song stuck in my head for two days... - He told her. - You know all the words?

- Yeah, I think I do...why?

- Well, we still haven't performed anything together as a band. - King said.

- Yeah, but we're missing the rest of the band right now.

King got his phone from the table and dialed a number.

The two bands were in the music room.

King was sitting behind a drum set, while the rest of ''Midnight Sinning Session'' was holding guitars. Hope was in the front, behind a mic.

- Ready? - King spoke into the mic in front of him.

- Yeah. - Hope, and the rest, said, and half smiled.

''Ohhh, I miss the misery!
I've been a mess since you stayed,
I've been a wreck since you changed,
Don't let me get in your way,
I miss the lies and the pain,
The fights that keep us awake-ake-ake
I'm tellin' you!''

The guys heard Hope sing ''Wrapped Around Your Finger'' and ''I'll Show You'', but this was something else. Her voice was louder, but still pure. She sure as hell could carry a tune.

''I miss the bad things,
The way you hate me,
I miss the screaming,
The way that you blame me!
Miss the phone calls,
When it's your fault,
I miss the late nights,
Don't miss you at all!
I like the kick in the face,
And the things you do to me!
I love the way that it hurts!
I don't miss you, I miss the misery!''

Hope was the only one singing. She had a strong grip of the guitar while singing into the mic. The guys were all blown away. They don't know much people who could sing that genre that clearly, not rasping once.

''I've tried but I just can't take it,
I'd rather fight than just fake it''

- 'Cause I like it rough. - Hope whispered into the mic, sending chills down Calum's body, a mischievous smile on her face.

How can someone look so devilish and so angelic at the same time, was just one of the question running trough Calum's mind.

''You know that I've had enough,
I dare ya to call my bluff,
Can't take too much of a good thing
I'm tellin you!
I miss the bad things,
The way you hate me,
I miss the screaming,
The way that you blame me!
Miss the phone calls,
When it's your fault,
I miss the late nights,
Don't miss you at all!
I like the kick in the face,
And the things you do to me!
I love the way that it hurts!
I don't miss you, I miss the misery!''

The guys joined her here and there, but Hope's voice was the only one Calum heard, the only one that mattered. It's hard to believe they've only known each other a few days, because to him, it felt like a lifetime.

''Just know that I'll make you hurt,
(I miss the lies and the pain what you did to me)
When you tell me you'll make it worse
(I'd rather fight all night than watch the TV)
I hate that feelin' inside
You tell me how hard you'll try
But when we're at our worst
I miss the misery.''

Hope was hitting every note perfectly, all while playing the guitar. She truly was something else.

''I miss the bad things,
The way you hate me,
I miss the screaming,
The way that you blame me.''

King was rocking the drums.

- I miss the rough sex... - Hard to believe all it took for Calum to get excited was to hear her voice sing those words.

''Leaves me a mess,
I miss the feeling of pains in my chest!
Miss the phone calls,
When it's your fault,
I miss the late nights,
Don't miss you at all!
I like the kick in the face,
And the things you do to me!
I love the way that it hurts!
I don't miss you, I miss the misery!
I don't miss you, I miss the misery!''

Hope let go of the guitar and griped the mic. She held that last note high and long, but her voice didn't sound out of tune for a second, she sang it flawlessly.

''I don't miss you, I miss the misery!''

Blue and Hope finished the song together.

- Holy shit. - Cody, or recently nicknamed Romeo, was the first to speak. - You're amazing.

- Thank you. - Hope smiled humbly.

- Good job, kiddo. - Michael started clapping, the guys followed.

- Oh, come on... - Hope was embarrassed.

- Why can't you admit you're amazing? - Calum approached her.

- Because I'm not that amazing. - Hope said.

- Bullshit. - Calum told her, his hand stroking her cheek. - You're unbelievably amazing.

Hope half smiled at his words, but still not believing them. She was stubborn. Calum leaned in closer to her and kissed her. The kiss was more passionate and fiery than they planned, but it's not like they minded.

- Whoa. - Jesse was the first one to react. - When did that happen?

- Oficially, last night. - Hope said, her cheeks were completely red, so were Calum's.

- And not oficially? - King asked.

Hope and Calum looked at each other, then back at King, but didn't say anything. King chuckled.

- You make a good couple. - Blue said and patted Calum on the back.

- Yeah, you do... - Romeo said. - But I think Hope and I would make a better couple.

Everyone looked at Cody.

- I'm kidding. - He reasured everyone. - Where did your sense of humor go?

- Well, Orion's gonna be disapointed. - Jesse said, a small smirk on his face.

Hope didn't look so happy to hear that name.

- Who's Orion? - Luke asked.

- Jesse's brother and...my ex. - Hope told them.

- Well, things just got interesting. - Cody commented.

- Thank you for bringing that up. - Hope told Jesse, noticably annoyed.

- Sorry. - Jesse said quickly and truthfully regreting his decision.

- You guys didn't end it on good terms? - Ashton asked his sister.

- We didn't end it...he did. - Hope told him, emphasizing the first word.

- What do you mean? - Michael joined the coversation, everyone else listening.

- It's a complicated story which I don't feel like explaining right now. - Hope said.

- You still don't feel like drinking? - Luke asked her after a few seconds of silence.

- Hell no...fuck health, I need alcohol. - Hope said.

- I'll go get some. - Luke said trough a chuckle.

- And I'll come with you. - Hope said, rushing Luke out of the room full of awkwardness and curious eyes.

- Wait, did you maybe cheat on him with Jesse, so he left? - Luke tried to guess the reason behind their break up, once they left the room.

- No. - Hope simply said, chuckling a little at his words. - I told you nothing ever happened between Jesse and I.

Hope was the first one to reach the door. She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw a guy standing outiside of them. His hand was in the air, preparing to ring the doorbell. As soon as their eyes meet his hand fell to his side.
