A Life for A Life

More Lies and Distraught Feelings

*Louis’s POV*

“Mate? What’s up? You look worried sick.” I heard Liam ask.

Shit, was I making it that obvious. I swallowed, looking up at the Daddy of our group. I shrugged, in a way of saying it was nothing, but my way of saying I wasn’t going to tell. “Is it Eleanor?” He asked.

My mouth opened, about to say that it wasn’t, but I held back. If I say that, he would try to press on. I didn’t want that. I knew if I wanted to keep the secret about Cat to my mates, I would have to lie to them. I looked away from him, staring at the ground. “Yeah…” I managed to say.

I hated lying, but it was necessary. Never in my life did I ever think of having to lie to my best mate. A hand clapped on my back. “Are you two fighting? Or perhaps it’s Twitter?”

Twitter? God, how long has it been since I’ve been on that thing. My life seemed to revolve around trying to keep my pop star life going and keeping my personal secrets a fucking secret. In all honesty, I wasn’t even sure how I was supposed to live my life anymore without having to look at every corner in hopes in not finding some suited sniper going to kill me.

“Ah…” I answered Liam. “It’s nothing, really. I just miss her…”

Not only that, but Liam brings up Eleanor. I haven’t properly spoken to her in two weeks, not after what Cat told me about herself. I usually try to talk to her as much as possible, sharing the latest stories that I found hilarious, but now I had no stories to share, only the secrets of an international war going on and the worries of death slapping me in the face.

And Cat. I couldn’t forget about her. She left yesterday, me giving her my bank card. My credit card had a limit on it, and I didn’t know how much she needed, so I let her go with my regular one. I did make sure to call my bank and check my balance. I knew she has used just about a couple hundred dollars so far. I was surprised not to hear more. What about the plane ticket? Did she even get one?

“I’m sorry, man…” Liam said, his hand massaging my shoulder some. “I know you do.”

I did miss Eleanor, but Cat was on my mind. She was in danger, grave danger. The only way I knew she wouldn’t be dead was whenever the next time we would meet. How long would that be?

I rubbed my face in my hands. At least I was convincing enough to these boys that I had nothing to hide. But still… “No, don’t say that.” I said to him. “It’s just me. It’s all on me.”

I hated to make her go like that. Cat wasn’t safe, at least I didn’t feel she was as long as she was out of my sight. I hated not knowing how she was.

But all I could do was wait. Plus, she said to me that she’d be back.

She promised.
