An Unexpected Turn

Things with Niall seemed to be going well. Ever since our dinner we've been texting a lot. They're in the middle of their tour so I haven't seen him since. I can tell he's developing feelings for me, but I'm not sure I can say the same. He's a sweet man and very good looking, but I've had a big crush on Harry ever since he started growing his hair. For some reason I can't get past that, not even while I see Niall crushing on me. I'm practically living every Directioner's dream and I can't stop thinking about Harry.

What is wrong with me?

One morning as I was brushing my teeth, I get a text from Niall.

Niall: Good morning, beautiful.
Melanie: Hey, good morning. :)
Niall: Guess what?
Melanie: What is it??
Niall: We just got a week long break and I was hoping we could see each other.
Melanie: I'm not sure. You know I have classes daily and I most definitely can't fly anywhere. Broke college life forever. Lol
Niall: I'll come to you, please say yes.

Niall, what am I going to do with you?

Melanie: Yes. :)
Niall: I can't wait to see you. I know we facetime but it's not the same.
Melanie: I really want to see you, too.

I actually really meant that.

Niall: I also have something to ask you.
Melanie: What is it?
Niall: I'll ask you it when we see each other.
Melanie: Ok, Mr. Mysterious.

Today is the day Niall is supposed to be arriving and I'm feeling nervous. Almost as if I'm meeting him for the first time. Which technically it's the 3rd time we've "seen" each other so it's not too far off. I didn't ask him if he wanted me to meet him at the airport, I should have. I'm actually a little disappointed that Harry is not coming. I really need to get him out of my head.

Fuck.

As I was walking to the bus stop after my morning shift at the bookstore, I get a call from Niall.

"Hello?" I answer.
"Hey, are you off from work?"
"I am. Are you here yet?" I ask hoping he is.
"Yes, I'm actually with this really beautiful girl right now."
"Oh..." I start when I suddenly feel a strong hand wrap around my waist from behind. It was Niall.
"I thought you were with a beautiful girl." I say teasingly.
"I am. Have you seen yourself?" He says with a smile on his face.

Seeing Niall in person changed things. I know I had been obsessing over Harry this whole time. Yet, having Niall in front of me felt different than texting him or facetiming. He was stunning, his blue eyes looked so pure under the sun. His messy blonde locks moved with the wind. His light skin was pure perfection and his smile was so alluring.

Wait, am I feeling something for Niall? Is the Harry curse gone?
I hope so.

Niall invited me to lunch at a local French bistro as he knows I love French food. He told me all that's been going on with the tour and I talked about my classes. I really enjoyed my time with Niall. It was easy to talk to him. Then I remembered our text conversation and how he had something to ask.

"Hey, weren't you going to ask me something?" I ask then taking a sip from my water.
"I do have something to ask you, I've been thinking about it all day."
"Well now would be a good time, Niall."
He takes my hands in his.
"Mel, I know we've only been talking for a little while. I must admit I really like you and I was hoping you'd accept to be my girlfriend." Niall turns red as he says the last word.
I look down trying to gather what to say. At that moment he touches my cheek and it feels like electricity runs through me. I close my eyes and lean my cheek closer to his hand.
"Niall..." I start as I look into his eyes. At that moment I realized I could never deny anything to this man. He was perfect. "... I would love to be your girlfriend."
