What A Feeling
Chapter 35
“Thanks for the coffee and donuts, Kara.”
“No problem. I figured something was up when I heard how late you came in.”
“I feel terrible, but I just couldn’t bring myself to say goodbye to him. I don’t think I could have let him go, Kara.”
“I understand, Sweetie. Did you talk to him this morning?”
“Yeah, he called from the airport. He said he understood.”
“Is something else wrong, Becca?”
She nods her head. “Niall suggested we move in together.”
“Oh shit.”
“Yeah.”
“Did you tell him about Eric?”
“No.”
“Sweetie, you have to tell him. Otherwise he’s going to think you just don’t want to live with him.”
“Kara, what the hell am I supposed to say? Hey Niall, um the thought of living with you terrifies me because my ex cheated on me the moment we moved in together.”
“Um...yeah. That’s what happened.”
“I’d sound like an idiot.”
“Becca, that was a horrible experience, and it’s completely normal for you to have some scars from that.”
Her eyes fill with tears, reliving the moment.
“Niall is crazy about you. He will certainly understand that you may need to take things slowly.”
“You think so?”
“Yes. I mean he knows you’re a hot mess, and he’s put up with you so far.”
Becca laughs. “Gee, thanks.”
Kara laughs. “Anytime. Now don’t you have to get to work?”
“Yeah. I need to talk to my boss.”
“Sir, I think you’ll agree with me that there is a growing interest in the NBA here in England.”
“Yes.”
“You’ve heard about the amazing season the Warriors are having?”
“Yes, I have.”
“I’d like to go to California, do a full series on them. I promise you, it will be incredible.”
“Well, you haven’t let me down yet. If I allow you to do this, I want exclusive interviews, stories no one else will have.”
“You’ve got it, sir. When can I leave?”
