Louis's POV:

"What do you want from me?" I shouted at Austin, frantically trying to see if I could sneak past him and back to Sammie, "You already ruined my life!"

"I'm giving you something," Austin answered simply, with absolutely no venom in his voice, which was strange.

"What is it?" I won't lie, I was pretty curious.

"The bet... Do you know why I wanted you in the forest?" Austin asked me, and it suddenly dawned on me that I didn't know. I quickly shook my head, wondering the reason.

"I-I wrote a note to your sister. When I was going to give it to her, it blew away, with the wind. I saw it fly into the forest. I was too scared to go in there, so I made you. I was hoping you would find it. I was too scared." He whispered the last part.

It took awhile to sink in. I went into the forest for Austin? He was too scared? What did the note say? "I... I don't understand."

"I loved your sister," he said, his voice so low I could barely hear him, "I still love Aria."

And then I understood. "YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE INTO THE FOREST YOURSELF! COWARD!" I screamed at Austin, not attempting to hold in my rage. "YOU'RE JUST A FUCKING COWARD! IF YOU LOVED ARIA, IF YOU TRULY LOVED HER, THEN YOU WOULD'VE GONE IN THERE YOURSELF! ALL THESE YEARS I BLAMED MYSELF FOR HER DEATH WHILEE IT REALLY WAS YOUR FAULT! YOUR FUCKING FAULT!" And through my rant, all he did was lower his head in shame, not even attempting to defend himself.

"All I'm asking for is your forgiveness," he said quietly, and then I truly did understand.

Even though he killed her, he loved her. He killed her because he loved her. I know that doesn't make sense. He killed her wished wouldn't have to face the true harshness of the world. I bet with every punch he felt remorse. He didn't want to do it. He didn't have to, but he did it because he loved Aria with all his heart. Like how I love Sammie. And then I also discovered that forgiveness is essential in the world. If you don't forgive someone for what they did in the past, then the world will be a really fucked up place. So I knew what to do.

"I forgive you," I whispered. And then there was silence. He straightened his back and walked back into the room Samantha was in. Each stride looked so dangerous, yet so weak. I followed him, unsure of what to do and what was going to happen.

Austin took his knife out, and for a second I thought he was going to stab Sammie, but he just cut the rope that bounded her to the table leg.

"This is something I have to do," he said, staring directly into my eyes. I nodded even though I didn't know what he was going to do.

Austin whispered against Sammie's ear, "I'm sorry." Then he grabbed her by the neck and started pounding her head against the wall.

I gasped. I didn't know he was going to do this. Suddenly, I realized that he was taking Sammie's memory away from her so she couldn't remember him. Selfishly, I wanted Sammie not to remember Austin so she could be all mine. But when Sammie's gaze locked on mine, I immediately felt guilty. She was feeling pain while I was feeling pleasure. "Get off her," I growled at Austin, jerking at his hands. Finally, he let go, and Sammie fell into my arms, half concious.

Austin glanced at his bloody hands and he blinked. "There is one more thing I have to do," he whispered, turning to me. He grabbed his gun and pointed it at me, and then Samantha. "No," he groaned, and then pointed it at his head. "Take care of Samantha," he told me, cracking a small smile. And then there was a bang, and Austin crumpled to the cold concrete, dead, never to move again.

I dashed up and out of the cabin, outside. I walked for awhile, Sammie in my arms, and when I finally got a signal on my phone, I called the police.
