One Direction Short Stories

Babysitting and Beyond - Niall

Studying abroad has always been a dream of mine. I can’t believe it’s really happening. Attending college in Ireland hasn’t been easy, but it’s so worth it. I attend classes in Dublin during the day. Then when I’m not studying, I try to find ways to make money. I’m staying with my mom’s friend from college who lives in Mullingar. She’s helped me find some babysitting jobs.
“Hey Jane, just wanted to let you know I’ll be out all day. I’m babysitting little Theo today.”
“Oh he’s such a cutie. His family is so sweet too. Have a great day, Becca.”
It doesn’t take me long to get to little Theo’s house. He gets so excited when he see’s me. “Becca!” He yells.
His mom goes over a few things with me before they head out. They’ll be gone till late tonight. I promise her that Theo is in great hands. The minute they leave, he has a line up of toys all ready for us to play with. I find some sports on the tv, and join Theo on the floor to play.
We’ve been racing his toy cars for about an hour when the doorbell rings. I pick Theo up and carry him to the door with me. When I open it I’m absolutely stunned. In front of me is the most handsome man I’ve ever seen. He’s wearing tight skinny jeans, a button up shirt with a few buttons undone. Showing off a nice amount of chest. “Uncle!” Theo screams, reaching out. His uncle happily takes him. “Hey Buddy, how are ya?” He asks Theo. Then he looks at me with the biggest smile. “I’m Niall, you must be Theo’s babysitter.”
It takes me a moment to reply. I can’t help it, I’m absolutely lost in his blue eyes. “Yes, I’m Becca.” Niall puts out his hand for me to shake. “Nice to meet you, Becca.” As I go to shake his hand, rather than shake it, instead he takes my hand in his and gently squeezes.
“May I come in for a bit?”
“Oh my goodness, Niall, I’m sorry of course you can.” I step aside to allow him in. As he passes by, the intoxicating smell of his cologne makes my knees weak. I’ve been so focused on my studies that I haven’t allowed myself to think about a relationship at all. Is that why this gorgeous man is having such a major effect on me?
“Ahh, you got the Derby game on!” Niall turns to me with the biggest smile. “They’re my favorite team.”
I smile. I can totally relate to the excitement in his voice. “Well, they’re doing great so far.”
Theo asks Niall to join him on the floor to play. Looking at me Niall asks. “Do you mind?”
I smile. “Of course not.” Then Theo chimes in. “Becca come play.” I move to the floor, sitting with Niall on one side and little Theo on the other.
We play with Theo for awhile, then I fix us some lunch. After lunch, I put Theo down for his nap. As I walk out to the living room, I’m a little nervous about being alone with Niall. Not as much as I thought I would be though.
My breath catches as I walk out to find him sitting on the couch watching the game. He’s leaned back on the couch, his feet planted wide, leaving his legs wide open. He just looks so manly that it’s making me think things that I probably shouldn’t be while I’m
babysitting. Niall looks up at me. “Oh hey, Becca. Would you mind if I stayed to watch the game?”
“I’d love the company actually.” I reply. Shocking myself with my words. I’m
usually shy, but so far I don’t seem to be with Niall. I expect Niall to turn his attention back to the game, instead he watches me walk to the couch. He pats the spot right next to him. “Best seat in the house.” He winks.
My heart does this weird fluttery thing that I don’t think I’ve ever felt before.
People talk about butterflies in their stomachs, I think mine are in my chest.
I sit next to Niall. Our legs and arms occasionally touching. We share a long,
extensive conversation about sports. Niall filling me in on all the details of european sports. I in turn share with Niall my broad knowledge of american sports.
Now I realize most girls wouldn’t find this very romantic. I on the other hand can
think of nothing more full of romance than sitting on the couch with a handsome, knowledgeable sports fanatic. Except perhaps actually being at a sporting event with said handsome sports fanatic.
“I gotta tell you, Becca, it’s quite nice to meet a pretty girl who likes sports so
much. And you actually know what you’re talking about.” He winks.
I smile. I can’t believe how comfortable I feel with Niall. Wait...did he just call
me pretty? Holy crap! When my brain begins to function again, I reply. “Well I had better know what I’m talking about if I’m going to be a sports journalist.”
“Really? Is that what you're studying at Uni?”
“Yes.” I reply.
“Quite impressive.” He grins.

After the Derby game, we find yet another game to watch. Niall wants to hear all about university life and how I came to go to school here. I tell him the whole story of what brought me here to Ireland. He never takes his eyes off of mine. Genuinely listening to me. Interested in what I’m saying. When I ask Niall questions, I ask about Mullingar, his family, sports. Never bringing up what he does for a living. Obviously I know who he is, what he does. I’m getting the impression that he’s enjoying just being Niall with me, rather than Niall from One Direction.
Our conversation is fun and comfortable. Before we know it little Theo is up from his nap. He’s asking Uncle Niall and I to take him to the park. Niall looks at me, I nod yes. He smiles. “Let’s go buddy.”

As we walk to the park, Theo is in between Niall and I. Holding both our hands. For a moment I get lost in my thoughts. To outsiders we must look like a family. I feel myself smile.
I’m snapped out of my fantasy by Niall. “What are you thinking about to give you such a big smile?”
I blush. “Oh, um, it’s just so beautiful here.” The words stumbling out of me awkwardly.
Niall looks me up and down. “Yes, it is.”
Damn it. There’s those weird butterflies in my chest again.
As we stand watching Theo, Niall clears his throat then asks me. “I imagine you have a boyfriend at Uni?”
I’m a bit surprised by his question. Looking in his eyes, I reply. “No, I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“Oh.” Niall can’t hide his smile.
He’s adorable, I can’t help but giggle. What on earth is this guy doing to me? I can’t remember the last time I giggled.
I bravely ask Niall. “Do you have a girlfriend?” Bracing myself for the answer. Niall smiles at the ground then looks in my eyes. “No, I haven’t got a girlfriend.”
I smile. “I’m surprised.”
I swear Niall blushes. “I just hadn’t met the right girl.”
My brain immediately registers the fact that he said hadn’t, not haven’t. Does that mean he thinks I’m the right girl? Oh geez. I have to stop over thinking this. I’m going to drive myself crazy. I just met him a matter of hours ago and I’m practically planning our wedding.
I feel Niall’s hand on the small of my back. He leans closer to me and points at Theo talking to a little girl. “Looks like little Theo found himself a girlfriend.”
I grin. “They are so cute.” I notice that Niall’s hand is still on my back. I also notice how much I like it there.
Back at the house, I begin to fix us all dinner. Niall puts a movie on for Theo and joins me in the kitchen. “Let me help you out, Becca. I fancy myself a bit of a chef.”
I laugh. “Alright, I’ll call you Chef from now on.”
Niall moves extremely close to me. His lips are so close to mine. “You can call me whatever you’d like.” Then he kisses my cheek softly, quickly.
Niall returns to the stove, yet I stand there frozen. Does he have any idea the effect he’s having on me? Just then Theo toddles into the kitchen. “Becca, please come play with me.”
I look at Niall. He grins. “Go ahead. I’ve got this.”
I follow Theo into the living room, joining him on the floor to play. After awhile I turn to look towards the kitchen. Niall is standing in the doorway watching us. First I notice how sexy he looks, standing there leaning against the wall. Then I notice the way he’s looking at me. All of a sudden I’m very warm, all over. I’ve never had a man look at me quite like that. Oh crap, those stupid butterflies are back. Niall smiles. “Dinner is ready.”
He turns, walking back into the kitchen. I feel a pain in my heart. I realize it hurts watching Niall walk away.
Dinner is fun, lighthearted. The food is amazing. “This is great. I really am going to call you Chef.”
“Thanks.” Niall looks at me, I see the spark in his eyes. “Cooking isn’t the only thing I’m good at.”
My first reaction is to look down and blush. Instead I hold his gaze. I smirk and say. “I bet.”
Niall winks, I return to my food. Who is this Becca? I don’t recognize her. She’s confident, comfortable, and far from shy. What have you done to me Niall Horan?

We put Theo to bed together. I leave the room for a moment to retrieve Theo’s favorite stuffed animal. When I return I stop frozen at Theo’s doorway. Niall is sitting next to Theo’s bed singing to him. It’s such an incredible sight. Niall’s voice is so beautiful. I quietly walk into the room. Coming up behind Niall, I put my hand on his shoulder as I reach over to hand Theo his toy. I feel an incredible warmth as Niall puts his hand on mine. He looks up into my eyes, still singing. The butterflies are back. Actually they feel too big to be butterflies. Maybe birds. Maybe freaking eagles.
Once Theo is asleep we return to the living room. “Would you like to stay and watch a movie with me, Niall?”
He smiles. “I’d love to, Becca.”
We sit on the couch together. As the movie progresses I notice the space between Niall and I gets smaller. Until our legs are touching. I look over at Niall’s hand resting on his leg. I want nothing more than to hold it. I subconsciously lay my hand out on my leg. A moment later I watch as Niall reaches over, his hand now resting on mine. I turn my hand over in his. We entwine our fingers together. Niall brings them to his lips and kisses my hand. As I feel his soft lips on my hand, all I can think about is how incredible they would feel against my lips.
Niall puts his other hand in my hair. Our eyes lock on each other. I’m hoping my eyes are conveying how very much I want him to kiss me.
Just as Niall starts to move towards me, we hear a key in the door. We both pull back, releasing our hands.
After a quick visit with Denise and Greg, I head out. Niall is right behind me.
“Becca, I’d like to see you again.”
I smile. “You would?”
Niall grins. Even in the dark night I can see his blue eyes sparkling. “Yes, very much.”
“I have class till one tomorrow, then I’m free.”
“Perfect. I’ll pick you up from class.”
“Niall, my classes are in Dublin.”
“That’s fine. Can I give you a ride home?”
“Yes, please.”
Niall opens the car door for me. The drive to my house isn’t long but that doesn’t stop Niall from reaching for my hand.
He insists on walking me to the door. Then he laughs. “What?” I ask.
“It’s just crazy. I feel like I’ve known you forever. I just met you like what, twelve hours ago?
I laugh. “So it’s not just me feeling that way?”
Niall smirks. “Well I guess if we both feel like we’ve known each other forever, then it’s ok for me to do this.” His hand is in my hair. His other hand moves to my back, pressing me closer to him. I feel my body relax at his touch. Niall’s lips are on mine. My arms wrap around his waist. At first the kiss is light, sweet, barely there. The quiet moans that escape me fuel Niall on. The kiss turns firmer. Then the porch light turns on, Jane opens the door. “Oh, wow. Oh, sorry.” She stammers then retreats back inside.
Niall and I laugh. “I guess we will have to continue that tomorrow?” I say.
Niall grins. “I look forward to it.” He gives me a gentle kiss on the lips before walking to his car. “I’ll pick you up at Uni tomorrow.” As he reaches his car he yells. “Oh ya, it was nice to meet you, Becca.”
I laugh. “It was very nice to meet you too, Niall.”

The moment I step in the house Jane wants all the details. I fill her in. “Wow he sounds so sweet. Seems like you guys have a lot in common.”
“It’s really strange, Jane. You know how shy I usually am. With Niall I feel confident, comfortable, most definitely not shy.”
Jane grins. “Becca, you need to relax and just go with it. Enjoy this. You work so hard on your career. You are in college, have a little fun.”
“I don’t know. I’ve never been the type to…” Jane cuts me off. “Forget about your usual rules for yourself. It seems like there is something special going on between you two. Go for it!”
I laugh. “Go for it huh?”
“Yes! Don’t overthink it. Do whatever feels right. Whether it turns out to be a one night stand with an incredibly hot guy, or the beginning of a serious relationship.”
“Thanks Jane. I’ll sleep on it.”

The problem is I don’t sleep. All I can think about is Niall. And Niall’s lips on mine. Which in turn makes me think about where else those lips would feel good. I go to the kitchen to fix myself some tea. I think Jane is right. I’ve denied myself a lot of things while I focus on my education. I deserve some fun too. My mind races with thoughts. By the time I finish my tea I’ve decided. I’m going to take it moment by moment with Niall. I will go with whatever my heart tells me feels right. And I will regret nothing that happens between us.

I walk out of my journalism class to see Niall standing there. He’s wearing black skinny jeans, a black t-shirt, and a White Sox hat. I feel my heart rate speed up just looking at him.
When I reach him he puts his arms around my waist. “I missed you, gorgeous.” Then he kisses me. Not the sweet little peck in public kind of kiss. A full on passionate, hey by the way I want you, kind of kiss.
I can hear my heart pounding in my ears. “I missed you too, Niall.”
He laughs. “Good.” Then leans in for one more kiss. I can feel a million eyes on us. For the first time in my life, I don’t care.
“So I thought about bringing you flowers…” He hands me two tickets. “I thought you might like these better.”
I look at the tickets. “The Derby game? Really?”
He cackles. “Yes, really. This Sunday. You and me.” Niall leans down and whispers in my ear. “Did I make the right call?”
“Absolutely. These are way better than flowers.”
Niall grins. “That’s my girl.” He takes my hand, leading me to his car. I stare at the tickets. These are incredible seats. Wait...did he call me his girl?

Our first stop is a sports bar for lunch. Talk about a dream date. I’m still blown away by how easy everything is with Niall. We talk sports, we tease each other. After we finish eating, Niall holds my hand under the table while we watch the game.
“Do you have classes tomorrow?”
“No, not tomorrow.”
Niall smiles. “How about I get us a hotel room here in Dublin? That way we don’t have to drive back to Mullingar. No pressure I swear. I’ll get one with two bedrooms.”
His pleading look warms my heart. “It sounds great, Niall. Except I don’t have any of my things.”
Niall looks pleased. “That’s alright, we’ll pick you up whatever you need.”
I smile, but in my head I’m calculating how much is in my bank account.

Niall stops at a clothing store first. One that’s not really in my price range. I look around. Don’t these kind of stores have clearance racks?
Niall brings me a couple outfits. “I like these.”
Once I get over how adorably he said that, I actually look at the outfits. He has great taste. They are things I would actually wear. “They are very cute, Niall.”
He grins. I look at the tags. “Niall, um, these are a bit out of my price range.” I say quietly.
“I was gonna get them for you, Becca.”
I shake my head. “I can’t let you do that, Niall.”
He moves in close to me. Talking quietly. “Why not? You work hard. You deserve it. Please let me get you a few gifts. Please?”
I don’t say anything so he moves in even closer. “It would make me happy. You don’t want to make me sad do you?” He gives me a sad puppy face. I can’t resist his silliness. “Alright.”
He smiles. I take his hand. “Thank you, Niall.”
He kisses my cheek. “You’re welcome.”

Our next stop is the drug store. I never imagined having fun buying toothpaste. Yet with Niall, everything seems fun.

After checking into the hotel, Niall and I watch a movie. Then we have some
dinner. As we start to watch another movie, it’s quite clear that there is something else we’d rather be doing.
“Becca, honestly I don’t really wanna watch this movie. I’d rather be kissing you.”
I laugh. “I was hoping you’d say that.”
Niall turns to me, his mouth on mine. His kisses move down to my neck, then up to my ear. In his raspiest voice he tells me. “You’re all I’ve thought about. I want you so bad.”
My breath catches. “I want you too, Niall.”
He stops, looking in my eyes. “You’re sure?”
I smile. “Without a doubt.”
Niall grins. “I guess we won’t be needing the other bedroom.”
I smirk. “Well if we break the bed, we’ll have a spare.”
Niall cackles loudly. “I like the way you think, gorgeous.”
He pulls me to my feet. Both his hands are in my hair as his mouth takes full possession of mine. I bite his bottom lip as he pulls away. A low growl escapes him as he moves to my neck. I think nothing can possibly feel better than his soft lips on my neck. Till he begins nibbling on it. Little bites that take my breath away.
Niall pauses, wrapping me in a tight embrace. I feel him kiss the top of my head. After what feels like a perfect eternity, Niall looks into my eyes. I’m not sure what he’s searching for, apparently he finds it though. Taking my hand he leads me to the bedroom. Niall starts to unbutton my blouse. “I want to see all of you.” He says.
For the first time with Niall, I get embarrassed, awkward. “My body isn’t exactly perfect.”
Niall runs his fingers through my hair. “Neither is mine. You look past my flaws, I’ll look past yours.”
The genuine sweetness in his voice causes me to smile and relax. “Deal.”
He continues to remove my blouse. “Beautiful.” He says. I pull his t-shirt over his head. Looking at his chest I say. “Perfect.”
We finish undressing each other. When I’m standing in front of Niall naked I don’t feel awkward. The look of appreciation in his eyes calms any self doubt I have.
Our first time together is slow and perfect. Niall is very thorough. He hovers above me,
kissing my neck, then moving to my chest. I arch my back as he uses his teeth. Then I feel his fingers down below. It doesn’t take long for his skilled fingers to drive me over the edge. I scream out his name as the pleasure ripples through me.
Niall watches as I come undone below him. The look in his eyes I’ve never seen before. It’s intense, but I can’t find a label for it.
His mouth returns to mine. I tug at his tongue with my teeth. He moans, then enters me slowly. “Are you alright, Becca?”
I look into his sweet, hungry eyes. “Perfect, Niall.”
He smirks. We find a rhythm, slowing at times so that we don’t lose this moment too quickly. I run my fingers through Niall’s soft hair as he brings me close to the edge. I grip on to it as I explode around him. I moan out his name. He follows right behind me. To hear him screaming out my name in pleasure thrills me far more than I could have imagined.

The next day we never leave the hotel. Our day consisted of amazing sex, sports on tv, and room service. In other words, Niall and I’s idea of a perfect day.

The following day we go to the Derby game. We have so much fun. The suite Niall got was incredible. As we leave I get my first taste of what life must be like for Niall all the time. Several fans stop him, asking for pictures. He graciously stops, taking pictures with all of them. He checks on me often, giving me an “I’m sorry” look. I smile to let him know it’s fine. I can see where it might get frustrating at times, but if this is the price to pay to be with Niall, then I’m willing to pay it.

Back at the hotel, we head straight to the bedroom. Both of us have been impatiently waiting to be alone together.
Then after, we order room service. Cuddling on the couch watching a game. I sit up as Niall lays his head in my lap, stretching out on the couch. As we watch the game, I run my fingers through Niall’s hair. It feels so soft and fluffy. I could do this for hours. “Don’t stop gorgeous, that there feels good.”
I laugh. “You got it, sexy.”
Niall cackles. “Is that gonna be my nickname?” He looks up at me.
I grin. “I think so.”
He wiggles his eyebrows at me. “I like it.”

“You have some days off coming up?” He ask me.
“Yes. I have two days of classes, then five days off.”
“How about I keep the hotel room? You can spend those five days here with me.”
I grin. “Sounds perfect.”
Niall smiles. “Good.” Then his smile fades. “Only one thing. I need to head back to London for a day or so for work. I’ll be back in time to pick you up from class on Tuesday.”
“Alright. I understand. I’ll miss you though.”
Niall grins. “I’ll miss you more. Why don’t you stay here at the hotel? That way you don’t have to keep going back and forth to Mullingar.”
“Great!”
“Now let’s go to bed. We both have early mornings.” Niall insists.
“So we are going to sleep?” I ask suspiciously.
Niall smirks. “Yeah right.”

I got done with classes early today, so Niall will meet me at the hotel when he gets in rather than at my class.
I miss Niall. It helps a bit staying at the hotel. The smell of his cologne lingers, I find it comforting. I grabbed a couple papers downstairs and now that my homework is done I intend to chill.
I flip through the first one quite quickly, very boring. A few pages into the second my heart skips. What the hell? There’s a picture of Niall at a london nightclub, with a girl. I throw down the paper. The tears come, I’m unable to stop them. Damn it Becca. You were supposed to take this lightly, have fun. Why does this hurt so bad then?
I hear the lock click. “Hey gorgeous, I’m back.” Niall freezes when he sees me trying to quickly wipe away the tears. He hurries to sit beside me on the couch. “What happened, Becca? Are you alright?”
I look into his eyes and I know immediately why it hurts so much. Despite my best
efforts, I’ve fallen in love with Niall.
He sees the paper, picks it up, shaking his head. “Is this what has you upset, Becca?”
I try to put on the tough exterior. “It’s fine, Niall. I know we aren’t exclusive.”
Niall takes my hand. “Becca, please look at me, and just listen for a moment, alright?”
“This picture is rubbish. It was taken like three weeks ago. And that girl is my friend’s girlfriend. See he’s right here in the picture, they just cropped most of him out. They put this ridiculous stuff in the papers all the time. you can’t believe any of it.”
Looking in his eyes I have no doubt he’s telling me the truth. “I’m sorry, Niall. I overreacted like a jealous idiot. I have no right.”
“I’m sorry the paper upset you. Now a couple things. What do you mean we aren’t exclusive? I thought we were. I don’t want to see anyone but you.”
I smile. “I’d like that.”
“Good. Now what do you mean you had no right to get jealous? As my girlfriend you have every right.”
I grin. How is it he can be so adorable? “Your girlfriend?”
“Did I not make that clear?”
“No, not really, Niall.” I tease.

He moves closer to me. “Then let me make it clear. I want you to be my girlfriend. I don’t want to date anyone else, and I certainly don’t want you dating any other guy!”
I smile. “I have no intention to.”
He grins. “Good.” His grin fades and a sweet smile appears. He squeezes my hand. “Becca, it’s crazy, and it’s all happened so fast. I can’t deny though. I’ve fallen for you, gorgeous. I’ve fallen hard. I don’t want to be without you, ever!”
“Niall, your home is in London.”
“But my heart is here with you.”
My heart skips a beat. I touch the side of his face. “ Niall, I’ve fallen for you too. It surprised the hell out of me. You just came out of left field, and made me fall in love with you. I love you, Niall.”
He grins. “Hey, what happened to my nickname?”
I laugh. “I’m sorry. I love you, Sexy!”
Niall cackles. “That’s more like it. I love you too, Gorgeous!”
