Bride to Be

Chapter Eight

Harry’s POV
When we pulled into the parking lot, I knew Kennedy spotted Gemma and James right away because her grip on my hand involuntary tightened just a bit. I knew Kennedy was a bit stressed about this which wasn’t good for the baby and trying to calm her nerves were a bit harder than normal. When I found out Kennedy was pregnant one day I sneakily went and bought a bunch of different parenting books and from what I read, stress was really bad for the baby and it was very important that Kennedy was relaxed. I parked the car and kissed Kennedy’s hand. She looked at me and tried to give me a smile but it was a fake one.

“Things will be fine Kenni,” I said looking at her, “Our parents are not going to stop talking to us because we did things backwards. We’ve never done things the right way anyways so they’re just going to take it in stride.”

“You think so?” she asked quietly.

“Yes,” I said, “Remember what James told us?”

“Yeah,” she smiled, “He said ‘don’t you guys do anything the old fashion way anymore?’”

I then gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. I quickly rushed around the car and helped her out of the car and we made our way up to the restaurant. When we got close enough I saw Gemma smile at us and Kennedy smiled back.

“So how was the appointment?” Gemma asked Kennedy and she smiled.

“Really lovely,” she said, “We got our pictures.”

“We did too,” Gemma beamed which I know put Kennedy at ease.

The two girls gushed about baby things while James and I stood there smiling at our girls.

“You ready to be a dad Styles?” James asked me and I looked up at him.

“Not right now,” I said, “But I think when they baby gets here I’ll be ready. You?”

“Same here,” he chuckled, “I was a bit in shock and happy when I found out.”

“Me too,” I replied, “I just kind of wished it happened after we got married.”

This caused James to smile widely and just laugh. I looked at him a bit confused and he put a hand on my shoulder.

“Harry, yours and Kennedy’s relationship has been anything but a normal one,” he said, “and I think if this happened normally things would be a bit rocky. This happened at a perfect time for you guys. Whether you believe it or not.”

“You think so?” I said looking at Kennedy and Gemma grinning ear to ear.

“I do,” he said, “besides we’ll be taking birthing classes together so I don’t have to suffer alone. I heard those things make you go absolutely mad.”

“Lovely,” I said and we both chuckled.

Soon our parents showed up and our mothers were the first ones to pick up on it immediately which caught all four of us off guard.

“Are we having grandbabies?!” my mum and Mrs. Wilker asked.

“How did you know?” Gemma asked shocked.

“Trust us,” my mum said, “You both have that pregnant glow.”

They then pulled Kennedy and Gemma into hugs and they were all talking animatedly. Mr. Wilker, Robin, and my dad were all walking over to where James and I were standing.

“You two ready to be dads?” Mr. Wilker asked and we both looked at each other and nodded our heads yes.

“We are sir,” I said, “And I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.”

“Me either,” James said and our fathers then nodded their heads and pulled us in for a hug.

“Congrats you two,” Mr. Wilker said as he passed us to Robin and my dad.

“Yes seriously,” Robin said, “You two must be excited.”

“I’m excited and nervous to be honest,” I said and James nodded his head.

“I’m the same way,” he said.

“It’s to be expected,” my dad said, “but don’t worry when that little boy or girl is placed in your arms you become a totally different person.”

“You really do,” Mr. Wilker said.

Before we could get a word in our mums came over to hug us and we switched places.

“I’m so excited for you love!” my mum said, “You’re going to be a daddy.”

“I’m getting grandbabies!” Mrs. Wilker said hugging me and James, “I’m so excited.”

We then were seated after the excitement died down a little bit. Kennedy and I were sitting next to each other when our parents started asking questions. They were currently talking to Gemma and James so I took the opportunity to whisper in Kennedy’s ear.

“I told you things would be perfect,” I smiled and I saw her grinning.

“I know,” she said, “I was so nervous.”

“Me too,” I said, “I could’ve swore you dad would’ve killed me.”

This made Kennedy grin widely and she placed a kiss to my cheek.

“I wouldn’t let that happen to you love,” she replied and I grinned kissing her.

Soon it was our turn grilled with questions from our parents after we ordered food.

“So how far along are you Kenni?” her mum asked her.

“Eight weeks,” she said reaching for her bag, “And this morning Harry and I went to have our first ultrasound.”

“Do you have pictures!?” her mum asked excitedly and Kennedy grinned and shook her head yes.

She then handed one to my dad, Mum and Robin, her mum and dad, and then Gemma and James. Everyone looked at both our ultrasound photo and Gemma and James before another question was asked. Soon they asked if we had thought of names or any nursery ideas and why we didn’t tell them sooner and then we all got scolded for telling them we thought they would get mad at us. Soon we were eating and when we were done, I could tell Kennedy was getting tired and worn out. Mrs. Wilker picked up on it and smiled at us.

“I remember that face,” she said, “You’re going through the tired phase huh?”

“You have no idea!” she exclaimed, “I sleep all the time. I told Andrea that I’m taking a leave of absence because I can’t do my job because I’m too tired to care!”

Mum and Mrs. Wilker just laughed and shook their heads.

“We understand completely,” they said, “So let’s get you both pregnant ladies to bed. We’ll go over to Kennedy’s and Harry’s for lunch tomorrow.”

“Sounds like a plan,” Kennedy smiled, “I’ll cook something small for us.”

Gemma, Mum, and Mrs. Wilker all agreed and soon we paid for our meal and then headed to the car. I was grinning as we walked to my Range Rover because I could tell Kennedy was in a much more relaxed mood, which made me happy.

“I had no idea that would happen tonight,” she said as we drove out of the parking lot, “I was expecting a normal parent reaction.”

“You and me both love,” I said chuckling, “I was not expecting Mum and your mum to freak out smiling and then bring you into a bone crushing hug.”

“I could’ve sworn my dad was going to kill you when he found out,” Kennedy and I shook my head.

“I agree with you on that one Kenni,” I said.

“But I’m happy they’re happy with it,” she said, “Now we can rest easy and if we need help they’re willing to give it.”

“Yes we can,” I said and I kissed Kennedy’s hand.

We pulled into the parking spot I had left open when we left and made our way back to our flat. When we got back to our flat, I smiled at Kennedy as she made her way into the kitchen and I heard her put on a pot of tea. I took off my shoes and made my way to the kitchen and wrapped my arms around her growing belly and rest my chin on her shoulder.

“I love you so much,” I said and I felt her cheeks rise in a smile.

“I love you too Harry,” she replied and spun around to kiss me.

When she kissed me, one hand immediately went to her neck to keep her from pulling away. Once I knew she wasn’t going to pull away, I put my hands on her waist pulling her closer to me and her arms wrapped my neck and played with the curls at the base of my neck. I lifted her up from the ground and her legs immediately wrapped around my waist as I made my way over to a counter and set her down on it. We were making out like there was no tomorrow when we heard the steam squeal from the tea pot. Kennedy giggled as I quickly turned off the stove and moved the tea pot off the stove and then kissed her again. This time I carried her to our bedroom and I showed Kennedy just how much I loved her. I kissed every inch and made sure she was happy. When we were done, Kennedy was curled up in my arms under the sheets and I heard whisper something that made me smile.

“Let’s get married in the courthouse,” she said before she fell asleep on my chest.
