Bride to Be

Chapter Twelve

Harry’s POV
Our double date with Jared and Delilah was one of the best nights so far of me and Kennedy being in Holmes Chapel. We caught up with our friends and I had to laugh because most of the kids we went to secondary school with were here visiting parents and were going to the normal hang out spots of us. Currently Delilah, Kennedy, and Rosemarie, one of Kennedy’s old friends from secondary school, were all talking and I was sitting with Jared and few of my old football mates at the bar.

“So you finally did something about your crush Styles,” Luke said.

“He did a lot more than just something Luke,” Henry said and we all laughed and I just smiled at my wife.

I still couldn’t get over the fact Kennedy was in fact my wife.

“So when is she due?” Luke asked.

“February,” I said, “And I know this may sound lame but I kind of hope the baby’s born on my birthday.”

“I’m not even going to make fun of you for that mate,” Henry said.

“I bet its nice to have a family with the girl you love,” Jared said.

“You have no idea,” I said smiling at Kennedy and then looking at the boys, “I have no idea what I would do if she wasn’t in my life today. I’d probably be still sleeping with random girls and drinking my life away.”

“Well mate I’m happy for you,” Jared said slapping his hand on my shoulder, “I haven’t seen Kenni this happy in a real long time.”

“Thanks Jared,” I said as I saw her get up from the seat she was in and made her way over to me.

“Hey love,” I said as she got closer.

“Hey babe,” she smiled at me, “Hey Jare, Luke, Henry.”

“Kenni,” they smiled at her.

“What’s up?” I asked.

“Well I don’t want you to have to head home but I’m going to catch a cab home,” I said, “I’m starting to get tired and junior here I think wants some sleep too.”

“No way,” I said getting up, “I’ll come home with you.”

“No,” she said smiling at me, “Stay here with the boys.”

“Not going to happen,” I said, “It’s fine. The boys and I can catch tomorrow right?”

“Of course mate,” Luke said, “We can go get lunch.”

“Harry,” she started and I knew she was starting to feel bad.

“Don’t feel bad love,” I said, “I want to go home with you.”

“Fine,” she sighed in defeat and I smiled and pecked her cheek.

“Go say goodbye to the girls and then we can go,” I replied and she nodded her head.

She walked away and I looked over at the boys who were smiling at me.

“You’re so whipped,” Luke smirked and I just rolled my eyes.

“And I am completely okay with that,” I said, “But I do have to say you’re the same with Rose.”

“And I’m perfectly okay with that,” Luke said winking at me as the girls came over to us and we said goodbye to everyone.

Kennedy and I grabbed a cab back home and when we got into the house Kennedy made a beeline for the room which meant she was really tired.

“Today ware you out love?” I asked as she changed into her favorite shirt of mine.

“Yeah,” she sighed, “I hate being pregnant all I do is feel tired.”

“You’ll get over that soon I think,” I said trying to remember what book I read that said that.

“I sure hope so,” she yawned crawling into bed with me, “Have I ever told you how lucky I am to call you my husband now?”

“You have love,” I replied smiling at her as I bushed away a stray hair out of her face, “And I’m blessed to have you as my wife and mother to my child.”

This caused her to blush and I smiled widely at her. I loved that I could still make her blush. I hummed Truly, Madly, Deeply to her and soon I heard her breathing even out and I kissed her temple.

“Good night Mrs. Styles,” I replied quietly and pulled her closer to me.

The next morning, I woke up to the smell of pancakes and I smiled. I rolled out of bed to find Kennedy standing at the stove humming Magic to herself while she was making us breakfast. I made my way over to her and wrapped my arms around her midsection.

“How are my two favorite girls doing this lovely morning?” I asked as I kissed her neck.

“How do you know the baby is a girl?” she asked.

“I just do,” I replied.

She just giggled and I moved her chin so she could let me kiss her lips. When our lips parted she was grinning at me.

“Someone’s in a good mood this morning,” she giggled.

“I always am when I’m with you,” I said grinning.

She just laughed at my cheesiness and finished cooking breakfast. After a lovely breakfast with my wife, we got ready and I told her that I was going to head out with my mates and Kennedy said she was just going to stay in and go talk to my mum and Gemma. I kissed her and told her to call me if she needed anything. She rolled her eyes like always and told me to just relax and go have fun with my friends. I walked out of the guest house and sent a text to Jared letting him know I was on my way to pick him up for some lunch and time to go watch the football game at the pub. I had just pulled up into his driveway and he came out with Luke and Henry. They all got into the car and we headed straight to the pub to eat some lunch and catch up.

“So who do you think is going to win the game today?” Luke asked as we walked into the pub.

“Manchester United for sure mate,” I said, “Chelsea has no chance of winning.”

“Sure they don’t,” Jared said and we all laughed.

Out our group of friends Jared was the Chelsea fan while me, Luke, and Henry were all huge Manchester United fans. We got a seat quickly near a telly and ordered some food. The boys and I were going on about how life was after secondary school when Luke asked a question that I wasn’t expecting.

“So when did you and Kennedy tie the knot?” he asked and I looked at him confused.

“What are you talking about?” I asked.

“Mate you’re wearing a wedding band,” Jared said, “Did you guys get married recently?”

I mentally slapped myself because I forgot about it but I knew Kennedy didn’t want a whole lot of people know at the moment.

“Alright but you guys have to keep it between you and your girlfriends,” I said, “Kennedy and I got married a few days ago. It was just a quick ceremony at the courthouse but we’re having a bigger wedding once the baby is born. We haven’t really told anyone but our close friends and family know.”

“You got it mate,” Henry, Jared, and Luke all said, “We won’t tell anyone.”

“Thanks,” I said, “We really appreciate it.”

“No problem mate,” Jared said, “And congratulations. You two will make a great husband and wife couple.”

“Thanks guys,” I said as Luke and Henry added in the same congrats lines.”

The game soon started and all of us were glued to the TV. Manchester United was currently winning by a goal and the entire pub was going crazy since most of us here in Holmes were Manchester United fans. About half way through the game my phone started buzzing and I looked down to see Gemma’s name and picture flash on my phone and I immediately picked up my phone and headed outside the pub.

“Hey Gemma,” I said.

When Gemma didn’t reply right away I knew something was up.

“Gemma,” I said knots forming in my stomach, “What’s wrong? Where’s Kenni?”

I then heard Gemma’s sob and I started going mad.

“Gemma what’s wrong?” I asked trying to stay calm.

“I’m so sorry Harry,” she whispered, “She went to the bathroom and then she was up there for a long time. . .”

“Gemma where are you?” I asked panic running through my veins.

“The hospital,” she whispered.

“I’ll be right there,” I said and hung up the phone.

I then walked into the pub and started grabbing my things.

“Mate what’s wrong?” Luke asked.

I then looked up at the guys and they saw my face.

“Kennedy’s in the hospital,” I said, “I need to leave.”

They all then grabbed their things and we headed out of the pub. Jared grabbed the keys from me and told me I was in no right state to drive. The entire way there I was thinking the worst news possible and I was not going to be able to live without Kennedy in my life. I needed both her and our baby in my life or I was going to go insane. I was bouncing my right leg up and down and I was wiping my hands on my pants since they were getting clammy. Jared parked the car and I immediately went straight to the emergency room to find Gemma, Mum, Robin, James, and Kennedy’s mum and dad all sitting in the waiting room.

“What happened? Are her and the baby okay?” I asked, “Did she lose the baby? Is she conscious?”

“She was in the house visiting me and Gemma,” my mum started, “She went up to use the bathroom and she was up there for a while so Gemma went to go check on her. When Gemma found her she was passed out on the bathroom floor and she had blood coming from her lower region. The doctors haven’t come out to let us know. We called the boys and their girlfriends and they’re on their way.”

I then balled my hands in fists. I should’ve just stayed home today. I shouldn’t have been out with the boys. I just sank into one of the chairs and put my head in my hands. I could feel the lump in my throat start to form and I had to push my tears away. I would not cry. I needed to be strong for Kennedy and our baby. She didn’t need to worry about me. I was trying to calm myself down when I felt someone put their hand on my shoulder.

“It’s alright to cry son,” Robin said quietly, “You don’t have to be strong all the time.”

“I shouldn’t have gone out today,” I said, “I should’ve just stayed in with her.”

“Hey no one knew this was going to happen Haz,” he said, “Don’t blame yourself for this.”

I was about to say something until I heard the doctor say her name.

“Kennedy Styles,” a male voice said and I immediately jumped out of the chair and rushed to the doctor.

“Is she okay?” I asked, “Is the baby okay? When can I see her?”

The doctor gave me a grim look and I started freaking out on the inside.

“Kennedy is fine,” he said, “but the baby isn’t. She had a miscarriage and we couldn’t save the baby. We tried everything we could to save the child but it was too late. We’re hospitalizing her four the next twenty-four hours to observe and get her vitals back to normal. I’ll have the nurses come tell you where she’s being moved to.”

I thanked the doctor and I walked over to my family and just sat in the chair. The only thought going through my head was that Kennedy was going to blame herself for this and I knew she wouldn’t be able to live with the guilt when it wasn’t her fault.

“Harry,” my mum said warily.

“She’s going to be so depressed Mum,” I whispered as the tears fell, “She’s going to blame herself for losing the baby. She’s never going to be the same.”

I am the worst author ever. I'm soooooo sorry for not updating in like ten ages! I've kind of had writers block with this story but I just got an idea and went with it.
