Last night was very tiring due to cleaning up and eating out late. My break off from work is too long. I’m guessing they gave me a long break because of my kids. Most people might seem like a long break off is good, I like those breaks too, but I love my job. I went downstairs to make breakfast for myself and Elizabeth. Thomas is still sleeping. I poured the cheerios and milk into Liz’s pink bowl and handed her, her spoon. She could feed herself, but it gets messy. I sat across from her with the same thing. After we finished I cleaned up and she went into the lining room to play.

I went up into my room to see if Justin had called yet or not. He still haven’t called yet. I assumed he was busy. I went downstairs with my phone to watch Elizabeth. She was a wild one and very mischievous, I’m sure she takes after the boys. Its started to rain, it wasn’t a small rain it was a very big one. It was strange because yesterday was a sunny day now its cloudy, dark out, and rainy.

I was on my phone playing games when I got a phone call from a old friend of mine in high school. I haven’t heard from him in forever and of course I never forgot about him. I answered as soon as I saw his name.

Hey Andrew! I said cheerfully.

Hey Melissa haven’t seen you in a while huh?

Yeah I know right! So how’s life? I asked.

Fine, but that’s not why I’m calling you. He said and I could hear the sadness in his voice.

Andrew what is it? I could hear my voice go from happiness to concern. I walked upstairs leaving Liz downstairs by herself.

Mel are you sitting down? He asked making sure I was.

Yeah I am I said seating on my bed waiting for the good or bad news.

It’s Christy. He simply said.

What?! What about her. Andrew tell me now. The way he said it made it seem like bad news. Christy was one of my best friend.

Melissa, Christy…Christy she passed away in a car accident last night. He told me and I could hear his sniffles.

What!? I screamed into the phone. No that’s not true. Andrew, tell me you’re lying please Andrew please. I cried into the phone.

I wish I was he said and I could hear him crying as well.

No I kept repeating over and over again it isn’t true. It’s not. It cant be.

I’m really sorry Mel he said into the phone.

When’s the funeral? I managed to choke out of my dry throat.

In three days back here. He told me. I already contacted Miranda she knows already.

OK thanks I said and I hanged up and let what I heard soak in. This is unbelievable, she’s only 22. I fell asleep and woke to the sound of Thomas crying. I dragged my body to his room and rocked him back and forth in my arms and he settled down. I put him back in his crib because he had fallen asleep. I went downstairs to check on Liz and saw her sleeping on the sofa. I left her there and went upstairs to call Taylor about the news since she was a friend of Christy’s as well.

Hello Mel? She answered through the phone. I could tell she was in the car driving.

What are you doing? I asked her.

Driving she said.

Pull over I commanded her.

What?

Just pull over already Taylor.

OK I did now tell me what’s going on and why are you crying she asked me

Taylor, Christy passed away I told her while a new set of tears streamed down my face once again.

What?! She had the same reaction as me.

I know I just found out. Her funeral is in 3 days I told her.

Ok thanks. I cant believe this. This is too much to take in she told me and I could hear her crying by now.

I know, but bye Taylor I have to go. I hanged up on her and went and bought my tickets for the flight to San Jose. I called Carrie to tell here. I was going to leave tomorrow, so Carrie was coming.

The next day

I woke up at 6:30 because the plane left at 8:30. The weather was slightly better. Carrie cooked breakfast for me. I ate and instructed her to tell the boys and girls what happened if they asked for me. Taylor, Miranda, and me took a cab to the airport and boarded the plane.

You ok? Taylor asked me taking my hand as the plane to ok off.

Yeah I am you?

Fine just really upset she replied

Yeah I know. I don’t know what to say about this. I sighed and the plane was finally flying smoothly.

Someone shook me awake. I opened my eyes to see Miranda hovering over me. I looked around not sure to where I was. Then I remembered, I was on a plane going back to California, not for vacation, but my best friend funeral. I stood up to grab my bag. The three of us walked out of the airport and rushed to get a cab since it was raining. We were driven to our hotel. We checked into the hotel and went into our room. We were all exhausted from our flight. I checked my phone to see I had many miss call and text messages from Niall, Harry, Louis, Zayn, Liam, Eleanor, Danielle, Perrie, and Justin. I responded to their text messages and put my phone away. I saw that Miranda and Taylor got the same thing. We got ready for bed. None of us were really hungry so we went to sleep without eating. We shared the same bed because the bed was big and there was enough room. There really was no point in paying for three separate rooms where we were going to be here for only 3 days. I fell asleep as well as Miranda and Taylor.




I woke up to the sound of the alarm of my phone going off. I checked the time it was 6:30. The funeral started at 8:30. I got out of bed. Taylor and Miranda were already awake and were getting ready. I brushed my teeth and got ready for my friend’s funeral as well. The funeral was going to be outside so we had to wear something warm it was raining out, but not to hard.

We were finished and headed downstairs where the were serving breakfast. We got into line for food. After we had piled different sorts of food on our plates we sat down and ate in silence. No one could talk knowing that today was the day we had to attend our friends funeral. We quickly finished and went outside. We got a cab and drove 30 minutes to the cemetery. I paid the driver and he took off.

I spotted Andrew at the entrance and walked to him and he embrace me in a hug that I haven’t got from him in a while. He hugged Miranda next and turned to Taylor.

Hi, you must be Taylor I’m Andrew he said and held out a hand for Taylor to shake.

Hi, How are you? She replied.

I’m holding in. He said. Why don’t we go in ceremony should begin soon.

Yeah ok Miranda said and we followed close behind him. The next person I saw was Katherine. The three of us ran to her and we hugged her.

Kat I missed you so much! Taylor exclaimed.

Me to Tay! She replied.

Mel! Mir she said and we exchanged greetings. We went around and greeted other people such as Christy’s parents, my parents and other friends and family. The ceremony began and we took our seats in the third row. Everyone here were in tears. The pastor called me up to say a few words. I stood up and walked to the front and began my mini speech.

Christy, was such a good friend to me. She was always there for me and I loved her for it. The fact that she has passed away still has not completely soaked in yet. Christy will always be Christy, my best friend and loyal friend. I love her so much and will never forget her. I was crying a lot now and went to take my seat.

Taylor comforted me as Miranda went and said a few words.

She took a deep breath. The first time I met Christy I knew we were going to get a long. I vowed to always be there for her, but when she was in that accident, I broke my promise. Every moment since I heard the news I always blamed her death on me. If only I was there for her like I promised maybe just maybe this had not happened. I miss her dearly and her passing away is just horrible. Miranda finished and came back.

Taylor went up next.

Being friends with Christy was amazing. She was funny, smart, and beautiful. Everyone loved her. WE would always joke around together, but now we cant. If only I was the one in that car maybe she wouldn’t have to go. I always asked myself why did it have to be her. Nor one second in my life did I ever regret being friends with Christy. I cared for her and love her. Taylor took a seat and we waited for the ceremony to end.

I called everyone letting t hem know that arrived home and was very tired that I did not want to be bothered. They understood. I played with my kids for a little bit until I decided I wanted to sleep. I was still upset and was still mourning the death of Christy.

2 Weeks Later

It was raining out and I was on the sofa watching TV. Carrie was in America on vacation. Miranda was back in LA. Elizabeth and Thomas were driving me crazy with their constant cry and I was in depression mode. Thomas and Elizabeth wouldn’t stop crying. I don’t know why. It was probably the storm.

I missed Justin a lot, but he was always busy to be able to skype. He only sent me short texts. I understood why he was like t hat. I was like that to when I was working. I was searching through the TV, but nothing good was on. My phone was ringing it was Eleanor. They have been trying to contact me for a week already, but I ignored them. I wanted to be alone. This time I picked up.

Hello? I asked although I knew who it was.

Mel are you ok? Why are you ignoring us? She asked.

Nothing just busy I lied to her.

Busy? Busy with what? She asked suspecting something.

Its none of your business I snapped at her. She must have been surprised because she didn’t say anything. I’m sorry El I’m just busy ok.

OK sorry Mel. She apologized to me.

It’s fine Eleanor. Um do you mine coming over for a bit to baby-sit Thomas and Elizabeth? I need to go run some errands I asked her.

Uh yeah sure I’ll be over in 10 minutes.

Great thanks I thanked her and hang up. I ran upstairs and got changed out of my baggy clothes and into some decent ones. I threw my running shoes and sports clothes into my duffel bag and zipped it up.

I ran downstairs and placed it by the door waiting for Eleanor. I wasn’t gonna tell her that I was going to go running and go to the gym. I always did this when I was bored. My neighbor who I was very close with baby-sit my kids. I waited for Eleanor to come. She arrived at my house 5 minutes later.

Hey Melissa! She exclaimed and hugged me. She pulled away and looked at my body.

Melissa why are you all skin and bones? She asked me so confused.

Oh uh its nothing jus been exercising I told her half the truth. The truth was I haven’t been really eating maybe a banana a day. I didn’t feel like eating. I felt lost and empty when Justin isn’t here. I really missed him and Miranda. Most of the reason why I stopped eating was because I missed Christy so badly. I wished I could have been there for her but I wasn’t.

Mel have you been dieting? She asked me.

No I’m not. El I’m fine I have to go can you go check on Thomas for me? I said.

Sure whatever she said and walked upstairs. When I was sure she was gone, I grabbed my bag and got into my car and drove to a park I always go to. It was sprinkling now so it want that bad. When I got there I ran to the bathroom and changed into my exercising clothes. I ran two miles and was exhausted by the time I was finished my daily run. I drank half of my water bottle in one gulp.

You that thirsty? I heard a male voice asked me. I turned around to see no one there. The other way sweetheart he laughed I turned and saw a man around my age.

Uh yeah. I responded packing up my stuff. Um can I help you? Did you wanted an autograph? I asked him. He had a puzzled look on his face.

Uh no why would I get one from you? He laughed.

Oh uh I figured that’s why you talked to me.

Oh no I just came to ask you that question. I saw you drinking that water so fast. You looked like you might choke on it he laughed again.

Oh no! I laughed nervously. Well I got to go.

Oh where? He asked

Um I’m going to The Sports. I said.

Well what a surprised I’m going there too he said.

Oh cool I said well I’ll meet you there I smiled at him.

I got into my car and drove to the gym I always went to.

I went into the gym and put my bag onto the bench and started with the treadmill. I turned it on and started to run. I was at the gym for an hour when I decided I should stop. I showered and changed back to my normal clothes. I got into my car and drove to StarBucks. I left with the man I met at the park. We decided to go together since he decided he needed a drink.

We both ordered our drink and sat down together at a table. Luckily it wasn’t to crowded and their were no paps.

HI Melissa Adam Forge he said taking my hand and shaking it.

Nice to meet you Adam I said smiling at him. He smiled back.

Tell me a bit about you Melissa he said taking a sip of his drink.

Well, I’m 22, I have a boyfriend, I have two kids, and my job is a singer.

Oh that’s cool so do you sing like in bars or stuff? He asked.

No! I said shocked of why he would think that. Does he know who I am? I questioned myself. Um I’m actually a pop singer, do world tours, and have albums. I told him.

What? Wait so you’re those famous people? He asked.

I guess if you put it that way I chuckled at him.

Wow first time meeting a famous person. Wait let me do something first he said and took out his phone. HE was typing something I wasn’t sure what it was. I saw his eye go wide.

You’re George Ross’s daughter?! He exclaimed.

Yup that’s me. I responded.

And you’re Justin Beiber’s girlfriend??? This is so not happening. He said.

So are you up for that autograph now? I laughed.

Well duh he said. I laughed and took out a piece of paper and pen from my purse and signed the paper. I handed it to him. Wow thanks this is so cool.

Well tell me about you I said.

Well I’m 24, I go to school in New York I’m just here for vacation, I have a girlfriend and I’m not famous. I laughed at his last comment.

You’re funny I laughed.

Well I get that a lot. You know for my good look he said and clicked his tongue.

Ok stop I’m gonna die of laughter.

OK gosh lady he said which cause me to laugh more. After I settle down we talked more. We finished our drinks.

I have to get going now I said checking the time on my phone.

Ok well it’s nice meeting you he smiled at me.

I know you too. I smiled back.

Oh um can I have your number? I blushed slightly.

Yeah sure I was gonna ask you that. I smiled at him. We exchanged phones and I punched my numbers into it. We gave each other’s phone back. I hugged him. Well it’s nice meeting you Adam I smiled at him.

You too he said and we walked out of the café and parted ways. I got home and walked inside to see a very mad Eleanor on the sofa. She was fuming. She hear me come in and turned her head towards me and stood up to walk over to me. She didn’t walk she stomped. I felt worried, I didn’t know what happened.

What El? I questioned her with worriness evident in my voice.

You’ve been starving yourself weren’t you? She yelled at me, but not to loud. She was angry and it was very obvious.

No! What are you talking about I lied to her pretending I didn’t know what she was saying.

Don’t lie to me Mel. I’m your friend and I know when something is wrong ok. I knew something was wrong when I came over already. When you left I decided to make food for you, there were barely anything in the fridge or cabinets, only things for the kids. She told me.

I went and sat down on the sofa and buried my face in my hand and let the tears flow down my face. Eleanor came over and knelt down in front of me and hugged me.

I’m so sorry Melissa I didn’t mean to make you cry she cooed and comforted me. I put my head up and stared at her with red puffy eyes and she pulled away from me.

I’m so sorry El, I didn’t know what to do. I was so lonely and I felt so lost. I cried some more.

It’s ok Mel. You should’ve called us, we know Justin is busy. Melissa look at me, don’t you ever scare me again. Ok? I nodded my head yes and hugged her. It felt like forever we were in that position when I heard Thomas’s cries. We pulled away.

I’m going to go grocery shopping Melissa Eleanor informed me.

Ok thank you so much El! said.

That’s what friends are for she said and left to go shopping for food. When she left I ran upstairs to Thomas’s room to take care of him.
