Listen To Your Heart ~ COMPLETED

Falling Apart

Harmony’s POV
We ended up not going to the club. We spent the rest of our day trying to contact El. We searched the city but with no luck. Her stuff was gone from the hotel, and it was too late to catch any flights back home. She wouldn’t answer any of our calls, texts. We couldn’t find her anywhere. We looked in parks and coffee shops and in every hotel. It was no use. We finally called it quits when the clock struck midnight. We turned into our beds with phones at the ready incase she should call.

When I crawled into bed, I cried. This is all my fault. If I hadn’t asked to see the ring, he never would have dropped it. Then he wouldn’t have had to kneel down and pick it up then make it look like he was proposing to me at the same time El came up to get us. This is all my fault. We could have been partying at the club. El and Louis could have been happily engaged. Louis could have had the best birthday ever, but I ruined that.

Someone must have heard me crying because I heard the door creak open and close. Whoever it was walked towards me and sat on the edge of my bed. I had my eyes closed as I cried, so I couldn’t tell who it was. They stroked my hair from my face gently.

“Harmony, what’s wrong?” a raspy voice sounded from beside me. I stopped crying a little and began to sob, as I looked up at him. I sat up to look in his eyes clearly. “Is this about El? It’s not your fault. It was just a misunderstanding. Don’t be too hard on yourself.”

“But it is, Harry. If I hadn’t asked to see the ring, Louis never would have dropped it, and-”

“No. It wasn’t your fault. Stop telling yourself that.”

“But-” I tried to protest, but he came in for a hug.

“No. Don’t so anything. They will get back together,” he said.

“What about us?” I sobbed into his chest.

“I- I’m not sure. I feel distant. I’m not sunk into this relationship right now. I told myself to wait and see how things turn out. I could still get my memory back. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

I didn’t say anything back. I just sobbed more into his chest. I guess you could say we’re falling apart, but we are far past that. I knew, the minute I learned he didn’t know who I was, that we were falling apart. I was just too selfish to admit it. I love Harry with all my heart, but we’re crumbling; we are falling off the clouds. We are not perfect, but, then again, who is?

I began to calm down more with Harry here with me. I’ve missed having him hold me in his arms like this, telling me that everything is going to be fine even though it clearly isn’t. I was near falling asleep, and I felt myself being laid back on the bed. He kissed my forehead softly; letting his smooth lips linger a little longer. When I heard footsteps heading towards the door, I was almost asleep, but I stopped him.

“Please stay,” I mumbled tiredly.

I could tell he was contemplating because he wasn’t moving anymore, but he was still here. My eyes were closed; a sigh escaped from his mouth before I felt him crawl into bed next to me. I moved my body closer to his and lay one hand on his chest and one underneath my head for support. His body was tense at first, but he soon loosened up and wrapped his arms around my waist. I smiled a small smile that he couldn’t have seen in the dark before drifting off into the best night of sleep I’ve had in a while.

Harry’s POV
I was reluctant when she had asked me to stay with her. I was still unsure of my feelings towards her, but she needed me. Her brother is getting married tomorrow and she blames herself for ruining Louis and El’s relationship. It’s very stressful for her, and I’m not sure what to do at times because I stand clueless in my situation.

But holding her in my arms made me feel good about myself again. It made me feel stronger about our “relationship.” I could protect her and keep her safe, and it made me happy. I could almost feel a part of myself, lost and confused, coming back to me and filling me with a new joy. Holding her in my arms made me regain a part of me that I never knew was gone. She fulfilled me.

Yet something is still missing. Some sort of remembrance and all-knowingness is still out there. It makes me insecure at times now to be talking to people who know me so well, but I don’t know anything about them. I feel left out, excluded, yet at the same time everyone wants to be around me. I’m not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

As I started to wonder less, sleep finally hit me. It was a good sleep. One that made me feel less alone, almost whole again. It was one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had since I woke up in that dreaded hospital.

Harmony’s POV
When I woke up the next morning, extremely early, I was surprised to see a pair of arms wrapped around me. Then, I remembered how I had sleepily asked him to stay. I smiled up at his sleeping face before I slowly crawled out of bed to leave for Talia’s place. The others would be meeting later. The wedding starts at three, but as a bridesmaid, I have to be helping to get ready at eight.

I quickly scribbled out a note for Harry as well as another note for Dani and Liam before grabbing my stuff and heading out the door. I climbed into our car –Dani and mine- that we finally bought for transportation purposes obviously. We finally got sick of public buses and taxis, so we pulled in our money to get a small used Cadillac. We be riding in style.

I pulled up to the building about a half hour later right as the clock struck eight. I pulled the key out of ignition and walked up to the front door step where I knock politely.

“Ah! You’re finally here! I’ve missed you sooooo much!” Talia greeted me in a hug. Drew isn’t here because of the rule that you can’t see your fiancé before the wedding. Gosh I hate rules! If I ever get married, I’m going to be like fuck it! I need to see my fiancé now, so let it be; halleluiah. Amen!

“It’s so good to see you too! I can’t believe that today is the day!”

“I know! I’m so excited, yet nervous at the same time! It’s already 8o’clock and I haven’t drank a single cup of coffee yet!”

“Really? How are you so awake? I stopped at a Starbucks before I got here, but I don’t even drink coffee, so yeah.”

“Come on! I want you to meet some friends of mine!” She leads me into the living room of my old home to see three other girls standing there. “Girls, this is Harmony, Drew’s sister. Also one of my best friends!”

“Hello! I’m Yasmine, people call me Yazzy.”

“I’m Nicole, they call me Nicky.”

“Catalina, not the island, but you can call me Cat.”

All of them are at least two years older than me. They’re all super tall and have great curves. Talia told me they were her roomies in college, and they were all really nice.

“It’s so nice to meet you all.”

“Great, everyone knows each other! Now, we have a wedding to get to, so let’s move it!” Talia said.

We all spent the next like three hours helping each other slip into our dresses, do our makeup, and styling our hair. Trust me, we took our time, especially with Cat running off the walls. I always knew that people who were named, or nicknamed, after an animal were somewhat insane, but in a good way.

“Come on ladies! We have to get to the beach!” Nicole yelled at the three of us who were sitting in the kitchen eating Oreos with milk. “Tal! You’re getting crumbs all over your dress!”

“Oops.” Talia stood up and shook the crumbs off of her dress. Yasmine and I stood up and did the same.

“See, no harm done. Now let’s go!” Yazzy said.

We piled up into the limo they had rented so we can arrive in style. The wedding is taking place in the same place where Drew proposed, and everyone will be staying in the same beach house. It’s just going to be the small group of us because Drew and Talia didn’t want a huge wedding. Basically the guests consist of: me, One Direction and girlfriends, Nicole, Yasmine, Cat, Drew’s groomsmen and Talia’s parents. Her parents aren’t staying though, because they would rather drive home late than stay in a house with a bunch of crazy “young adults” as the called us.

“Please tell me again why we didn’t just drive here first, then get ready,” I said. It takes just a little over three hours to get to Pismo, and I am freezing in this dress. Why did I ever agree to this?

“Because it’s funner to get ready in the place of your own home,” Talia explained. “Plus, it’s my wedding day, so it’s my choice.”

“Don’t be so conceded,” I snorted back.

“Yeah, and please explain why are dresses are short. It’s like 60 degrees outside!” Cat added.

“I like that style and color.”

“Girls please! Just stop pestering the bride! It’s rude,” Yazzy said.

“Oh, well look who’s talking,” Nicole inputted. This sent us all in a burst of laughter that shook the car. It’s so fun to be able to meet new people. You never know what to expect.
