The Cruel Realities Of Love

"Hey klutz!" a girl from the Clique shouted at me. I turned to glare at them, only to be immediately blinded by the sunlight.

"Gah!" I shouted as I slapped both hands on my eyes. When my vision cleared, I realized who had called me a klutz. It was Nicole, the prettiest girl at school. She had a boyfriend, but it didn't really seem like it because she got laid by so many other guys.

A boy standing next to her grinned at me. "I can't believe she fell for it! The klutz fell for the stupid prank!" Frowning, I picked up the books I dropped and mumbled something.

"What was that, freak?" The Clique never called me by real name. Actually, I had no idea if they even knew my name.

I spoke up louder as Veronica, the girl next to Nicole, tossed her shiny black hair. "I...I have a name, you know..."

Veronica, Nicole, and a few other people from the Clique crowded around me, forcing me against the cold stone wall. A guy whispered, "Oh yeah? What's your name, then?"

I would have blushed if it weren't for the fact that this boy seemed like a total douchebag. "My name's Astrid," I said quietly. I pushed my way through the crowd that smelled of cologne and perfume and sweat.

"Not so fast, Astrid," Veronica said. Her voice was sharp as she stepped on my heel, sending me tumbling to the cold blacktop. I wondered in my head, Why does this always happen to me?

"Hey!" A deep voice said to Veronica. "What the hell are you doing?" She stepped back.

"Harry, she was bothering us," she turned on her puppy dog eyes. He ignored and pushed past her. I slowly got up, a sharp pain burning at my calf. I looked down to see that the ground caused a small gash.

He looked at me in the eyes, not in a bad way, but in a curious way. "You okay?"

I nodded. "This is normal. Oh, and here's a tip. If you wanna stay cool, you shouldn't assoiciate with me."
