Rose with thorns
Lilac's POV
Yesterday when Rose accepted, I almost had to make her repeat it. Never would I have thought that she would've accepted the offer by Ashton. Hell, I was shocked when the words of agreement left my lips. I think this will be good for us though. Even though the thought of being in the gang was the last thing that came to mind when we agreed to move to Australia, but nonetheless, the guys seem pretty cool, despite the tough guy facade that they try to pull off.
My phone goes off, pulling me from my thoughts before I look at my phone screen and see that Ashton was calling me. I smile before answering the phone.
"Hey" I say and I'm sure he could tell that I was sporting a wide grin.
"Hey babe. Where's your sister?" he asks
"Um, I think she is in her room. Why?" I ask
"We have important business today, so we need you guys to meet us somewhere" he explains to me
"Alright, where?" I nod
"I'll text you the directions." was the last thing he told me before hanging up. I frown to myself since he only called for that and didn't even give me a proper goodbye. Moments later, I received a text with the directions from Ashton.
"Rose! We have to head out!" I call for her, getting off of the couch myself.
"Where?" I hear her call
"I don't know. Ash just sent me directions to where we need to go" I reply. I could literally hear her sigh right as I said it
"Can you please stop calling him Ash. His name is Ashton" she says
"Excuse me if I actually got my crush to date me and you're being the stubborn girl that you are" I say
"Luke and I agreed to stay friends" she says, finally coming into view.
"And how long do you plan on staying that way? It's obvious you like him, even though you're always being an ass to him." I tell her, only stating what was obvious
"How long do you plan on pestering me?" she shot back
"Whatever, come on" I say, grabbing the keys and walking out of the door, Rose behind me.
Luke's POV
I couldn't seem to get last night out of my head. The way that we were able to talk to each other, as if I was never in a threatening gang, was a great thing that came from last night. I was able to tell that Rose had a great time too, and since she actually agreed, that was proof enough. I'm also glad that we decided to keep our relationship a secret for a while, which is going to be a challenge for me since I like people to know what's mine.
"Hemmings!" I hear Michael hiss from behind me
"Can I help you?" I ask
"What did you do to make her join?" he snaps
"I didn't do anything. Why do you care anyways? You are the one who let us be alone together" I ask him, wondering why he so angry
"I didn't think she would drag herself into this" he says
"What's the big deal? I can protect her" I point out.
"You can barely protect your own family! What makes you think you can protect Rose?!" he roars, making me lose it. I grab him by his shirt collar and pin him to the wall behind us.
"I think it's fit that I remind you who's the one in charge between the two of us! I might not have made her join, but I'll be damned if she felt obliged to. I know she's fragile, you don't need to remind me of that, but don't you dare bring my family into this!" I yell, and he turns his head, refusing to look at me right now. "I should have hurt you for what you said, but you're lucky I'm not about to hurt someone that I see as a brother." I say through gritted teeth, shoving him back as I let him go.
"Look, I just don't want her getting hurt. I'm sure she's had enough of our shit and now that she's in the gang, she will have to deal with more, not to mention possibly seeing us murder someone" he reminds me
"She knows what we do, Michael" I say, not looking him in the eyes, trying to convince myself that she joined for the better.
"I know that, but I don't want her seeing that." he sighs
"Why the fuck do you care?!" I snap, feeling like he is starting to get an interest in my girl.
"I already told you why. She's broken and she doesn't need to be even more so when she witnesses every last thing that this gang is known for! From the freaking hook ups to the brutal murders" he raises his voice, but before I can react, Ashton walks into the room
"Stop arguing like teenage girls and come on. We're heading out and the girls are joining us" he says before leaving us alone again.
"Just think about what I said, Luke, because she is starting to fall for you and if you can't give her what she needs, she can be permanently damaged" Michael tells me before following Ashton's lead, almost as if he was a sheep following the sheep herder.
Rose's POV
When we get to the spot that the guys wanted us at, I see Luke's figure come into view and I instantly smile. He sees me and walks up to me before hugging me tightly.
"Ready?" he whispers in my ear
"Depends on what we're doing" I answer
"Well, that is about to be announced" he says before making his way back to Ashton's side. I walk to Michael and Calum, who have their eyes fixed on the ground.
"Hey" I greet them
"Hi" Michael says, but he doesn't seem too happy
"What's wrong with you two?" I ask, looking from Michael to Calum
"You shouldn't have joined. This isn't safe for you" Calum tells me
"Well, I already made my decision and you guys don't have to keep pestering me okay?" I make myself clear
"Alright, so nothing was ever really planned for today, but since we have two new members, I think they should be treated with something that symbolizes that they are one of us now" Ashton announces, his loud voice catching everyone's attention.
"What do you have in mind?" I ask, my small timid voice barely getting him to turn my way.
"Well, look where we are sweetheart" he smirks. Instead of snapping at him for calling me sweetheart, I simply look up and see that we are behind a tattoo and piercing place.
My stomach churned at the thought of ink being permanently marked on my skin, or a needle being punctured into my skin just for the sake of being involved with the guys. I've been told to get a tattoo or piercing plenty of times when I lived back in California, but I always refused.
"You look pale" Michael said in my ear.
"I don't like this idea" I say quietly, so only he could hear
"Ash! Do they have to do this?" he asks
"Well, if Rose over there thought she would join a few guys who are covered in ink and metal piercings without getting one herself she is sadly mistaken" Ashton chuckles, making me bite my tongue before I said something I would regret.
Luke walks over to me as the others make their way into the place. He places his hand on the small of my back before leading me inside as well
"You alright?" he asks
"Luke, I can't do this" I gulp
"Come on, yes you can" he smiles
"No, I mean I really can't." I say, feeling bile making it's way up my throat from how nervous I was.
"Hey, look at me, alright." he says and I do so. "You can do this because you're my girl an my girl can do anything. I'll be right next to you the whole time" he promises me
"Don't you think that will make the others suspicious?" I ask
"I don't care at the moment. If you're scared I'm gonna be there to help you" he tells me
"Alright" I say with a smile before we walk in together.

Coming out of the place, I only got one thing and that was a rose tattoo on my right shoulder blade, and let me say that it hurt like a bitch since it wasn't the easiest or simplest tattoo in the world. Luke made me bite down on a towel so I wouldn't make a huge scene, but now that I look at it, I like the way it looked.
The reason I chose the rose, though, wasn't because it's my name and I couldn't think of anything else, but because even though something or someone can be so beautiful, we all have our thorns, and it's just apart of us and it's what makes us beautiful. In a way, I thought of this as a symbol of Luke. He is amazing and perfect for me, but he still has his flaws, and I was okay with it because his flaws made him who he is.

Wow this was a bad chapter :'( sorry for not updating in a while!! I have one more week of school and than I'm out for the summer so there will be better updates soon!
