Chasing Angels - ON HOLD

She Wouldn't Remember It Anyway (Part 1)

I woke up the next morning to the sound of rain splashing on my window. Now this is what home sounds like, I thought, rolling over. My alarm clock said it was just past noon.
"Shit!" I said, throwing back the blanket and running to the closet. I showered quickly, then got dressed in my closet. I threw my hair up in a sloppy ponytail and ran down the stairs in my Tigger slippers.

"Hey, guys!" I shouted to the five people of the male species sitting in my living room.
"Hey, Lina!" they chorused back.
"The irony!" I heard one of the shout. I backed out of the kitchen and into the living room, stopping next to the circle of humans on the carpet. "'Boybands ruin my life.' Genius!"
It was Liam speaking. "What?" I asked. They all jumped up and Liam hid something under his leg.
"Nothing!" Niall said, trying not to laugh. Zayn was biting his lip, Harry was looking up at me with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, Liam was trying desperately to keep something hidden under his leg, and Louis was staring up at me like nothing happened. You know, except he kind of had that too-innocent look in his eye.
"Liam," I said sternly. "Give it up. What do you guys have?"
"Nothing!" Liam said, trying to hide what they were doing.
"Stop lying to me! I know you were doing something!" I insisted.
The door burst open. "I'M HEEEEERE!" a male voice shouted. Dustin walked into the room with his arms spread out. "No need to thank me." Then he noticed my guests. "Oh. You're here." He stared daggers at Harry. I could practically feel the tension in the air.
"Oooookay.....?" I said, breaking the silence. "Dustin, why don't you sit down with my friends here and get to know them, because you obviously don't like them and need to get a new perspective." With that, I walked into the kitchen to get myself some food.
When I walked back into the living room a few minutes later, having eaten a bowl of cereal and a banana in hand, they were all buddy-buddy. A little too friendly, and I could still feel the tension in the air, even if it was slightly less than before.
I don't think any of them noticed me leaning against the wall, because the thing that Liam was hiding was being passed to Dustin.
He looked at the paper he had been passed and said, "Oh, I remember this! She wore that on her first day of school in Texas."
I tried to remember what I wore, but I couldn't. It was like a huge black wall blocking me from going back past when I first woke up in the hospital.
When I came back into reality, the only thing I heard was Dusty saying, "How should I know? She wouldn't remember it anyway."
Okay, I have to admit, that stung.
I chucked my unopened banana at him, and was satisfied when I heard the dull thud of my banana hitting his back. I ran out onto the back porch and out into the yard, the pouring rain instantly soaking through my thin clothes. I stepped in several muddy puddles along the way to the shed, soaking my Tigger slippers.
If this day was going to get any worse, it couldn't. No matter how hard it tried.

Notes
